My wife and I departed from BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport. The place was fairly busy since we're in a lull with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic.

From the point of view of a disabled person, things went well. We checked in at curbside and told them that I needed a wheelchair. A wheelchair was provided promptly, and a wheelchair pusher soon after that. Our wheelchair pusher expedited our security experience, and we arrived at our gate in plenty of time.

I recommend BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport.

I'm also adding a review of the Southwest Boeing 737 Max 8. It was comfortable. Service was pleasant and efficient.

I've added some photos and videos of the aircraft. I recommend Southwest Airlines, and I recommend the Boeing 737 Max 8.

Great airport. It had the biggest and cleanest bathroom I've been in. It was like being transported to a 5 star hotel in the airport. The food selection is great and it's easy to find your way around. My second favorite airport!

This is a good quality airport. Going throughout this airport was very smooth for me. The tsa lines can be pretty long but they do their best. The layout is very good. There are a ton of restaurants and shops to visit while waiting for your flight.

Solid airport. It’s timely with security/TSA, multiple food options, and nicely spread out. They have a ton of charging stations which was super convenient. It’s organized for the gates and there wasn’t much traffics in the departures area.

It's not because it's my local airport but it's the best. You never have big lines, clean, easy to find everything. Only 20 minutes from downtown. Parking is not very expensive. You just pick up your suitcase and go out to get your mobility in two steps

Good airport, great options for eating, shopping and even suites next to the gates so you don't have to pay a expensive taxi for it. Overall this airport was cool and short for domestic. I flew with American in Main Cabin Extra with it's extra legroom seats and extra snacks after the crew finishes giving out snacks.

My hometown airport so I fly in and out of here frequently over the years. Have never had any issues. Some nice perks is that it has good restaurant selection, not massive that you need to take trains/shuttles in between terminals. Staff is friendly. Flights are on time for the most part. Could use more outlets for charging throughout the terminals though.

The new Southwest domestic terminal is very nice.  A lot more food options and a few shopping choices from what I recall my last time here over 10 years ago. Customer service for check-in was fast and actually very friendly. We used long-term parking on this trip, as I have a couple times in the past, and it's never been an issue. Very convenient and reliable.

Great airport so far. Few issues. I use it frequently. Usually clean. Usually quick. Layout could have been designed better. Staff could be a little more helpful and friendly.

Busy airport, much nicer trip this time, with a meal than the last time through. 20 minutes before close I was told I couldn't order an entree, they were not making anything. This time different terminal, and different restruant. Way better experience. Plus it's daytime, and I've enjoyed the sights.

Nice airport & its REALLY nice that they do not price gouge for dining! I do wish they had more rocking chairs as it is really nice to sit and rock while having a long layover. However it's like 11 rocking chairs for thousands of passengers each day 🙄.

6-9-22 Came to Maryland for a graduation and I enjoyed my stay. Airport has a small cafeteria before checking in and has restaurants near the gates where you board. There is places where you can get a drink and a nice meal. There are little places you can shop for things you may need for your travel. Everyone has been helpful and nice. Bathroom needed attention though.

Don’t let the dirty floors fool you. This airport has a lot to offer. Easy to navigate to different gates and each gate has a visible sign. The best part the airport has to offer are the bathrooms! ADA accessible, clean and modern!

Very good airport clean and easy layout to get from point A to B. Friendly staff and very knowledgeable of airport areas and policy's. The Baltimore/Washington wall mural is amazing. Definitely an easy stress less airport to navigate trough wen flying. :)

Staff was friendly and understanding. Always there to help. Bathrooms are always clean. Early mornings (6am) are way easier than any other time and I recommend them. You get around so easily and without problems. Southwest is always amazing. American is not great. Not sure if that is true everywhere.

Our bags were there waiting for us when we arrived at baggage claim. Every other time, it's taken upwards of 30 minutes or more. It was so awesome! Great job, BWI!!

Just to name my Courier Southwest Airlines traveling from Logan turn off Norfolk to Logan everything was great are people are very much on top of everything

Keep in mind that this review is of the airport itself. Baltimore-Washington International is a one wonderful airport with plenty of options for dining, shopping, snacking, or drinking. Even if you have to spend several hours in the airport, there are wide expanses to walk, people-watch, or just sit in a rocking chair in the sun. The airport is super convenient and it is very easy to navigate both inside and outside.

I like this airport. It is somewhat smaller and easy to navigate. The security lines are usually very light. The restaurant choices are prolific. Only drawback is the bus shuttle to the rental car area but there are at least 3 of them operating so the wait is never that long!

We really enjoyed our time here! It’s fairly medium sized but more than sufficient and boasts some excellent cuisine and shops, not to mention judicial and aviation history.

My favorite air field to fly into as the pilots always give us a pretty very beautiful scenic trip fly in of the bay and ocean. Always clean and many transportation options in and out. If you use the subway trains you can be at the Orioles ballpark within the hour of getting off your flight. Busses readily available as well.

Now in Deleware. I take the drive to this airport to fly out! It's a bit more relaxed. Most people are pleasant and so far haven't had any issues.

My daughter was flying to Boston. Less people at the terminal. Almost everyone was wearing mask/face over, observing social distancing. Check in processes was efficient and speedy. It felt reassuring.

1 2 3 4 5
There are still a small number of travelers.

But there are constant reminders to stay safe and masked.

The terminal and bathroom felt clean.

Only a half dozen bags at the luggage pickup.

Many people opting to handle their own.

Chick-fil-A! I mean that gives it a 5 stars off the bat! 😂Airport was clean and at the moment wasn't very busy! One think I could recommend if you're listening(Baltimore international), more speed walk escalators. Clearing the airport from C down to B wasn't a problem for me, but if I were late with a family and luggage, this would have been a running through the airport marathon. Being military, I've definitely stepped foot once or twice in this airport and I don't ever find it complicated, dirty or an issue to navigate.

It was fine! Lots of places closed down in section I was in , but understandable right now. Bathrooms were pretty clean. It was Saturday late afternoon. Fairly steady/ busy!

This hub has whatever you might need while getting ready to fly or simply waiting for someone to arrive. Restrooms are conveniently located and cleaned regularly. Food places are plentiful. Lighting in the garage is adequate and shuttle service is frequent between the terminal and most lots

Usually a good experience. The ups and downs of the pandemic have barely impacted the efficiency of this airport. Aside from having the slowest bag return crews on earth, the experience is usually a good one. Their food options are amazing, and for an airport this size, it's very easy to get to different gates for connecting flights.

I do wish they would open concourse A security checkpoint to squeeze traffic through a little faster, but travelers can't always be choosers.

The check in process was a little slow because there were so many people there. The agents were pretty quick and friendly though. Getting through security was quicker than I'd expected. One of the security officials told everyone to just leave everything in our bags--don't worry about pulling out electronics or liquids. I don't know if that is typical or if they were just trying to get us through faster. It was nice though. The layout of the airport is good, and the signage is helpful. The hotel shuttle dropped us off at the correct terminal and we didn't have to walk very far at all to get to our gate. On our way to the gate, I noticed a couple of places with large windows and rocking chairs. It looked like a nice place to sit and hang out, and I kind of wish we'd stopped there instead of going directly to our gate and then sitting there.

Easy airport to find your way around. Getting from one gate to another for a transfer was a quick easy walk. Good variety of eateries and other shops. Bathrooms were clean and well kept.

Family bathrooms, charging stations, quick security. Decent airport. The international area is pretty small with only one restaurant in the E- section, but its easy enough to walk to D if you're ahead of schedule. Didn't have to park, but was able to access my airline from the front door.

Huge airport. As big as it is it’s easy to find where to go and what you need. Everything is marked for your convince. There are many places to eat once you go past security. Not much on the front side. There are shops with snacks and other items. It’s a busy airport but with patients and giving yourself time it’s easy. There are smoking area outside of the baggage claim and at departures.

First time to BWI airport and I was impressed with the magnitude of this airport . It was big and very clean and neat . Lots of restrooms . It was colddddddddd though … we reached about 12 am and waited for an hour to catch the next train . Being summer , we didn’t have our fleece and it was toughhhhhhhhh to sit in the airport .. was very cold . Had to go and stay sometime in the restrooms ;). Loved the shuttle service from airport to BWI airport railway station. Best service .. loved it overall :)

Well, unfortunately for us, we had a four hour layover. But I never let an opportunity like that go to waste. LOL, so I did some shopping. Yes, they have a lot of really nice shops for souvenirs to pick up for this person and person and of course I had to try the local food. 😋

This was my first time in Baltimore and flying in through BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport. The airport is very spacious and passing through TSA was very fast. The day I was leaving. The bathrooms are very clean and great fast food choices at affordiable prices.

I love flying southwest, and hence, this is usually the preferred airport. There are lots of updates and renovation over the years.

Parking: Long-term parking lots are conveniently located nearby with shuttle bus servicing every 15 min or so.

Security check is pretty simple and quick.

Cleanliness: bathrooms are chic and clean

BWI is a well located airport that’s large enough to get you where you need to go, but small enough to still feel like home. Security is efficient and friendly and there is a good variety of food offerings for an airport of this size. The only negative is the off site rental car facility which makes it necessary to take a shuttle bus. When working in DC or Baltimore, this is generally the airport I prefer.
Dave Harlan
1 2 3 4 5
Better than I remembered. Hadn’t been here in several years and they have done some good work updating the place. The renovated bathrooms were quite nice.

It did take longer to reach the rental cars than any airport I’ve been to recently. I didn’t expect the delay and it threw off my timeline.

Airport well laid out. Plenty of dining options to help pass the time between flights. Tip!!!- If flying Southwest and have a long layover avoid the crowded concourse by taking a quick ten minute walk to the nearly deserted "C" gates. Plenty of room to spread out and charge your devices between flights.
Gavin
1 2 3 4 5
BWI has a wide selection of restaurants, from national chains to local favorites with no airport markups on food and drinks as far as I could tell.

There's a post-security gym with showers, perfect for a quick workout. I haven't tried it but good to know it's an option.

Check out the Observation Gallery for plane watching or explore the airport's art exhibits.

This is the airport I choose when I can. Clean, well set up and easy to get on or out. The flights to the DC area generally set up where you go into or out of, but I found BWI to be the best. The people who work there are extremely nice and helpful, including those working for another airline. Baggage claim is quick and easy. Parking was a breeze - I was able to park very close to the terminal entrance/exit.

The drive to and from the airport can be a bit of an issue with DC traffic, but you have to choose your poison when visiting the area.

Newer terminal remodeling. Plenty of food choices. Nice signage for terminals/concourses.

Clean. People movers which we needed to get from gate b to gate a in twenty minutes.

Drop off (departure) went smoothly. Pick up, not so much... tons of cars everywhere no security to keep everyone following the guidelines.

Other than that, BWI is an awesome experience people are always professional and things go smoothly. I prefer this airport to others.

1 2 3 4 5
A nice airport which did not seem to be too busy (maybe because of the weekday travel), the security line was moving fast. Ride-share pick up is a bit confusing, it’s on departures (upper level) from door 6-11. There’re food courts next to the concourses and lots of food places (chipotle, pizza, mcds, Chick-fil-A, and etc.,) to choose from. Food courts have common seating tables and chairs, helps to sit and chillax.

Love this Airport. So easy and so close to downtown Baltimore. Be sure to plan for the bus ride to the Rental cars Center. It's off the airport.

1 2 3 4 5
For concourse B, had a decent amount of places to charge devices (including on the floor receptacles.) Check-in counter person was very stern in announcements about masks (as a few passengers did not follow the rules.) Arrival and departure (boarding) process seemed to be fairly smooth.

It was amazing it was my first time on a plane we got through the airport just fine I loved everyone wore mask and people were staying correctly spaced the flight everyone kept their masks on it was just a perfect experience

BWI is big and it spread out. When you enter you don't really come to know about the layout. A lot to walk if your gates are D and beyond.

Lots of Restaurants and Refreshment Outlets.

It needs an upgrade with respect to interiors, the AC ducts and wiring are visible at certain places.

All in all a good airport for affordable flying.

Nice airport with a bunch of restaurant options. Our layover was a couple of hours so we walked around and we’re surprised to see so many food options. Their central area was filled with restaurants and shops so we eat there and hung out for a while. The perfect airport to have a layover at!

Although I only changed planes at this airport, I had to write a review because these were the best bathrooms! They were so clean, recently renovated and according to a banner on the wall they were award winning. I really loved them because there were multiple hooks to hand bags while in the bathroom stalls and the door locks actually worked. There are lots of food choices and retail available. There was also plenty of seating while you wait for your flight.

Definitely one of the better airports in the US. Truly international - unlike many "international" airports that only fly one flight to like Canada per month! - the airport is well maintained and well managed. It is very approachable - being near several highways. Best thing is, even Maryland's public train lines run past it. Makes for easy travel to Washington DC or to Baltimore - esp. if you're an international traveler on a budget.
Robert Bennett
1 2 3 4 5
A beautiful, very modern and very clean airport that has numerous airlines to choose from to go anywhere in the US and all over the world. They also have numerous food courts, gift stores, and specialty traveler stores!

Frontier was low budget and scant services. You have to do almost all the functions of check in through the self-service kiosks.
Nathan Witmer
1 2 3 4 5
My favorite airport to use. Everything always runs smooth. Like all airports TSA agents can be cranky and the lines to check baggage aren't the quickest but my flight always leaves on time, if not early and there's never an issue of no gate when landing. The walk to customs upon landing internationally is quite a distance but the customs agents move quickly.

1 2 3 4 5
This airport is HUGE! It’s the second largest base for Southwest (following Chicago Midway). The personnel were VERY friendly. It’s relatively easy to maneuver through, considering the fact that as soon as I deplaned, I had to walk from Concourse A to Concourse B to reach my connecting gate. There is a food court right in between the concourses, which has McDonald’s, Chipotle, just to name a few things. There’s also plenty of shops.

I just adore airports this one being no exception at all. If this airport was a bowl of cereal I'd drink it all day. And the staff is superb. Getting through security was one of the nicest experiences of my life. But in all seriousness, you have to visit sometime. I cannot express my love for this place in this short, short review. This airport is something you have to experience for yourself.

I have always adored going to air ports. This magnificent building tops them all. The bright colorful architectural design with the mix of culture and music makes this place seem as a cloud nine on the ground. The beautiful planes keep the place exciting. I love all of the restaurants and and the gift shops, there's truly always something new to discover in the wonderland. There is a great variety of places to go. There is even a PLAY PLACE! The atmosphere is truly breathtaking. I love the workers, they are beautiful and kind and very much friendly. I love to hear the soothing sound of the beautiful employees, it softens my lonely heart. Come and and become one of us!

I often have layovers here and always enjoy it. Especially walking around c terminal (which is currently VERY quiet... And has hilarious signage). Good food options that are spread out. Solid variety of seating. Plenty of outlets. Major Southwest hub. 👍👍

Great experience indeed! Charger outlets everywhere and plenty of great places to shop and eat. Even rode an updated Southwest plane! Thanks for the hospitality and love BWI.

The airport is very easy to navigate and clean. There are many places to eat and relax in between flights. Be aware that if you are renting a car you will need to take a shuttle bus to the rental car facility.

One of the best US Airports in the East Coast.

It has a very convenient parking lot.

You can opt to get by bus or driving your own vehicle.

It is located in Baltimore and is close to everywhere.

You can get there by 295 or by interstate 95.

If you'd like to have your location visited and reviewed contact me

I found this airport to be very large. Great walking distance for the average traveler with luggage. I found the airport to be very clean. I thinking I didn't come through the areas where you'd find shops and eateries prior to security but once you came through there were a host of shops and food places. This area was well organized for the amount of traffic moving through. The signage was not clear and directional enough for a new traveler. I had to ask several times. Or maybe it was just those I was asking weren't familiar. Then you begin the long walk again to your area of boarding. Everything is so far apart.

It is an international, modern, and beautiful airport with a variety of stores and restaurants, clean restrooms, comfortable seating areas, fast WiFi and other great services. Baltimore areas also have a beautiful view from the air.

They added a Miss Shirley’s Cafe that’s open for breakfast 🤩 As my home airport, it’s always clean in here. The variety of food options is great. I have never encountered a disgruntled employee here and as a pretty frequent traveler I come through here a lot. Plenty of charging ports all throughout and super spacious. No complaints here at all.

Airport was pretty clean. No issues. Southwest Airlines is THE BEST! The pilot was funny, the attendants were very helpful. Enjoyed my flight. 2 FREE bags under 50lbs. KEEP IT UP!

Sadly... Supershuttle doesn't drop off nor pick up here any longer.

Honestly this airport is just like many out there but they have a special person on their team I’d like to thank for making my stay here so special. Lavern, one of the ladies that helps make this airport as spotless as it is is an amazing asset to their team. I spoke with her today for about 10 minutes and she was a breath of fresh air to talk to. BWI should count their lucky stars to have had such an amazing worker and all star woman on their team for the past ten years. Shout out to Lavern for being who she is and giving everyone smiles!

Probably the best airport in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area. It's walkable and not too crowded. CLEAR is at the security checkpoints. You don't need to use a bus or people mover. Shopping and food options are standard airport fare. I wish more international flights used this airport.

Pretty nice international airport conveniently located near Baltimore. Traffic can build up pretty easily on 295 and 195 and create a longer trip to the airport than estimated so leave early if traveling during rush hour or holidays. Southwest's hub so that's a big plus in my book 👍🏼

I love the large selection of food places they had at Baltimore’s airport! So much to choose from. May not seem important to some but when you travel from one side of the country to another it’s something you look for.

People were great and friendly and everything seemed to flow with no long lines.

Passed through here at a strange time with the pandemic going on. I find it extremely difficult to review airport because they are usually so similar and nothing really stands out usually. So I review experiences I have here. I had a wonderful interaction with the lady behind the food counter so this is basically her review. 😂

I love this airport. You can walk between all the terminals without exiting and going back through TSA which is appreciated if you’re nervous about missing flights. They have an excellent choice of food and it’s clean. Next time I come through and have a long lay over, I am going to try the gym they have in the terminal.

The airport and plane was very safe and clean. We had a pleasant flight.

Yes, masks, wipes, social distancing is practiced and we all felt safe.

People do not have to worry about the coronavirus and can start flying

The absolute GO TO airport for any travel plans. Even better if you fly southwest. It is really clear to everyone who goes there that Southwest is the favored airline. The staff are all so friendly and the food there just blew my expectations for an airport!!! Will ALWAYS go there for traveling.

I fly in and out of this airport many times a year. Always a great airport. Everything is perfect. Short term parking has been closed and they are allowing same rates at daily garage which is a HUGE plus. Shuttles to the garage are frequent so your not waiting long periods of time. They are truly doing a GREAT JOB! Shuttle drivers, daily garage attendants are very pleasant as well. Keep up the great work and positive outlooks. Masks are required in the airport.

Great airport. Nice employees & staff. They genuinely seem to like their jobs, well at least the people I came into contact with.

This airport is super busy, but to me, seems smaller in size than some of the other international airports. Just amazing how an airport of this size handles the traffic.

Love the moving sidewalks, I guess they’re actually indoor sidewalk, but they move & this is always exciting to me. Helps to give your legs a break.

Not many eateries, but those that are in place are intermittently spaced with great placement.

Love this airport because I connect it to visiting my loving & super great Mom & my connection the beautiful East-coast.

Solid airport. The place was clearly kept clean and not dingy, and the staff were decently friendly. TSA was quick as well. Lots of food options past security as well. As far as airports go, this one was definitely decent, and one I would happily fly through again should I need to. Easy recommend.

It was deserted and so easy during COVID. I always like BWI cuz it is small!

Great Airport to fly out of which we have used as well as Dulles. Easy parking and plenty of shops and restaurants.

Entered with low expectations, left very satisfied!

The food was great! Eggs, delicious. Tamales pretty spot-on. The refried beans were really good, and it's not often that I wish the serving was a bit bigger. Service was prompt and polite.

The arrival process was much better than the departure of course, but I really appreciated the car rental shuttle and the general area for car pick up and drop off. That to me was a major time saver. But like always advised give yourself ample time to get through security. There was eight of us and boy oh boy it was rough. But security was helpful with directions because some of my group were flying for the first time and with disabilities. Thanks for that.

I always find BWI airport to be clean, efficient and easy to park for. In my opinion it's one of the better airports in the United states. The Southwest terminal is fantastic and the rest of the airport seems to be catching up. While there are very few international flights. When used the international terminal is also excellent. The food selection throughout the airport is all so now above average.

The airport is fairly clean and easy to navigate. There is a decent amount of places to eat but the one thing that I did really like was that there are several breastfeeding stations throughout for convenience. During Covid-19 they are keeping it sanitized and safe v

Pretty nice airport. Not too big not too small. Overall pretty clean. Better than Philadelphia Airport.

Everyone is friendly and courteous. Pretty simple airport but the rental car facility has to be one of the furthest from the terminal in the US. It's definitely off-site and you have to take the shuttle to and from the facility. They have free wifi on the shuttle bus and because of the time you're on the bus you will actually have time to use it.

Nice airport. Restrooms were clean. Not alot of restaurants were open for lunch but understand probably cause of covid. If they had more charging stations that would have been nice.

Really nice airport. Extremely clean and organized for as busy as it is. Plenty of places to eat, shop and charge your electronics. I don't fly very often but this airport made it easy. The staff where friendly and happy to answer any questions i had. Thank you!

Very clean airport, and traffic wasn’t too bad. The arrival/departure/drop off was easy and the staff was very helpful. The prices were overpriced but that’s just airports in general. Will definitely fly through BWI again 👍

I was pleasantly surprised at the great selection of restaurants and food choices. My wife liked the vegan restaurant my 1st time and coming back we eat mostly at a crab restaurant. The look and feel of this Southwest hub here is fresh new and the inspiring.

Had a great time. No issues. I know this is pretty much dependent on the weather and I got lucky. My gates were close together and they had lots of places to eat, drink and relax other than the gate. Thanks for a great visit, see you again soon!

Smart planning and attention to details make a visit to this restroom convenient for the modern traveler. Each private stall is roomy and contains a nook for roll on luggage and hooks and shelf for a backpack or purse. Lights outside and above each stall indicate if it is available (green) or occupied (red). The soft lighting and beautiful colors are refreshing.

TSA checking was pretty quick and easy. Shuttle service was prompt. The entire area was clean except a family restroom which I complained on the suggested number and they addressed it in few minutes. Nice arts display on different areas.

Plenty of amenities and shops.

This is a very clean and efficient airport. The check in lines are rarely crowded during normal season. During the holidays it can become quite busy and because it is a smaller airport the wait times can be long. They have a great variety of restaurants and bars to choose from. The shuttles run consistently and on time, with all the different modes of transportation you can get anywhere in the DC/Baltimore area fairly quick and inexpensive.

If you are traveling either on DC or Baltimore , this airport is ideal , it’s close of both places.

Personally I get more deals on this airport when traveling around than the other one(DCA).

This airport is very clean and has all the stores you need to make your trip easier.

It’s not very crowded which is a plus for me.

Easy to get dropped off and picked up. It's a little run down in certain places but most gates have ample space for sitting while waiting for your flight. There are not many exciting restaurant choices though. Much better than going to Reagan or Dulles depending on airline, of course.

I left my cell phone on the plane, and it took off before the staff were able to call and retrieve it. Went to baggage claim to report. They tracked it down and delivered it to the gate before my next flight. It was above and beyond service - so grateful for their time and quick thinking! I could have waited for weeks to get it back. They rocked it!!!

This is a decent airport, but it still has a good amount of issues to it. This airport consists of five terminals that branch out from the center; which has ticketing and parking. You can go into TSA right after you arrive, and there’s a good amount of restaurants post security. The airport is also in the process of remodeling between concourses A and B, and it’s clean throughout.

One major issue of this airport is security. Baltimore is one of the sketchiest cities in the world, and this area is no exception. The pickup area smelled really bad, and there’s reminders upon entry about locking your car when parking. Overall, safety is a big concern, but other than that, this is still a good airport that isn’t a hassle to go through.

Pretty big airport yet apparently still not considered a hub. Has a good selection of services places to eat. The USO is located downstairs near baggage claim 14 so not in the security area. The rental car companies also are not located in the airport and have their own building that you take a shuttle to. Overall a pretty nice airport.
