I had the pleasure of visiting the San Diego airport recently, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. The airport staff and facilities were top-notch. The weather in San Diego is, as always, simply awesome, which added to the overall positive experience.

One particular highlight of my visit was the lady on bus number 112 who took us to the rental car area. She was extraordinary in every sense. Her infectious enthusiasm brightened up the short 10-minute ride, and her singing added a unique and memorable touch to the journey. It made the time fly by, and I couldn't help but smile throughout the ride. Her outstanding customer service and cheerful demeanor truly stood out.

The airport itself was clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. Signage was clear, and the facilities were well-maintained. Security procedures were efficient and hassle-free, ensuring a smooth start to the trip. The variety of dining and shopping options in the terminal made it enjoyable to spend time there, and the views of the surrounding area were breathtaking.

Overall, my experience at the San Diego airport was exceptional, thanks in no small part to the wonderful lady on bus 112 and the consistently beautiful weather in San Diego. This airport sets a high standard for traveler satisfaction, and I would highly recommend it to anyone passing through the area.

Fast and smooth check-in and security verification. One of the easiest processes I ever had in airports. Not very big and clearly not crowded.

Definitely better than LAX and on par with Ontario. The only real drawback about this airport is that it basically shuts down from 11:30pm until 4:00am with barely any flights allowed in or out. For the few like me who's flights were delayed, nothing is open and there is little staff on hand to help with any issues. Still a solid choice overall and a good alternative.

People say that the airport is small (in the reviews that I read). I think it’s more of a medium size. (In my eyes Durango is a small airport). There are few places to eat and to shop. For us passing through security line was fast. Getting breakfast was easy, let’s say 7-8 people ahead in line. I enjoyed the art on the walls. I was flying at 8am, so not sure if time makes a difference. Airport has two terminals and 48 gates. It was clean. I normally like to wait at the Admirals Club, but I didn’t see one. The gate agents were polite (I fly American).

Love this airport 🙌🙌🙌 quaint and convenient. Wonderful choices for meals, snacks, drinks, cafes, and shops. Love the massage stops (Be Relax) and local vendors. Always feels clean and kept in the restrooms, seating areas, and cafeterias. Love this is my home port!

Been to the airport couple of times very small yet very clean and organized and staff members very friendly and every time I was able to catch my flight on time and they had couple of lounge options and few restaurants and coffee shops available for you. Also was able to see flight status as they had multiple screens all over to check flight status for any delays.

Overall nice airport

As airports go, the San Diego International Airport is as good as most. It was well laid out and comfortable. You felt safe, and there were different places to get a bite. No one really wants to hang around an airport, but if you have to, this is a nice one.

Although I wanted to give this airport 5 stars I couldn’t due to the lack of space for gates 5-10. This area is always congested. Not place to sit and few places to eat due to the lack of space. Nonetheless great views landing and taking off.

Check-in was a little messy. I was getting dropped off but failed to notice any signage in parking garage for my airline. Hence, we short termed in wrong end. Made U-turn. Checking bags went fast and smooth. Then came the jam for security. We once again failed to notice the other side of the line for security. We waited in the long line, with everyone else. I will know next time. BTW, I made my flight on-time.

Always a terrific experience. Everything is so great and easy. With the opening of Terminal 2, checking in through security is even more seamless. It took 17 min to go from the car in the parking lot to the gate. I always recommend this airport. One of the best.

SAN is a relatively small yet fully capable international airport that serves the charming city of San Diego and Southern California as a whole.

Over the year, international airlines have been serving it. However, much work needs to be done to allow such airlines to realize the potential of SAN and San Diego as a destination and gateway to southern California and Northern Mexico and potentially alleviating some of the congestion of LAX.

The airport is located near to downtown allowing for some awesome landing views of the city and has the advantage of not being to far and difficult to get, the down side of this perhaps, is the limitation in expansion and adding a second runway.

There are two main terminals with T2 being more active and housing most of the international traffic. It is equipped with a good amount of check-in kiosks and all the fixtures and services expected of an international airport with well-intentioned helpful staff.

The car rental center is vast and as expected with free shuttle service from the airport but it takes a good 15-20minutes to get there, perhaps due to road works around the import during the time of my visit, so factor that in your plans.

I'm hoping to see SAN expand and become more active on the international airline seen.

Cool Airport, from my experience was able to get through TSA fairly fast. Does seem a little bit of a small airport tho so gets very very crowded quickly. Nice assortment of shops and San Diego themed nicknacks (for wild prices of course, like all airports but what can ya do 🤷‍♂️) safe travels everyone!

Checked a bag with American Airlines. Front desk line moved fast. The employee was really nice and took good care of us. Security line was short and moved very fast. It was around 5:15AM on a Wednesday: We had bags checked and to our gate in 20 minutes. Very impressive. The airport was clean and offered several different food options.

San Francisco Airport offers global connections, diverse amenities, and artistic ambiance. The airport offers efficiency, dining, shopping, and scenic views that makes it a practical gateway for both local and international travel. It is also known as the Lindberg Airfield and you can see the Spirit of Saint-Louis in there!

I love flying out of the San Diego airport. It is so easy. It is clean and friendly and efficient. Why can't all airports be like this one? And if you're luggage 🧳 for some reason doesn't arrive with you at your final destination (Thank you American Airlines) they will deliver it to you for free whenever you are 😊

HUGE airport. If you are traveling to/from this airport be prepared to wait as lines can be extremely long. The good news is that the airport staff clearly know what they are doing and the lines move fairly quickly. Still allow times for check in, security, etc. and when you land allow times for baggage, lines to rental cars/transportation, etc

There are quite a food options. Airport is kept very clean and organized. Currently a lot of construction so that too can cause extra waits/traffic. Airlines are designated to specific sections of airport.

Considering that they're doing a MAJOR renovation at terminal 1, it's not terrible. Terminal 1 has looked the same since i was a little kid, back in the 70s. So I'll gladly accept the work congestion, as they make it into a state-of-the-art terminal, like they did to Terminal 2. Can't wait to see what it'll look like after the completion. T2 is just beautiful.

Terminal 2 is great. Ride share is labeled clearly and easy to find. TSA was quick and efficient and the baggage claim doesn't feel cramped.

Only negative is the Aspire Lounge was full and required you to wait in line because it is shared by every airline.

It was pretty busy when I had to drop off my husband on a very early Monday morning earlier this month, & a quicker in & out in the early afternoon just recently. The layout that they have made for departure & arrivals is so much smoother & faster than jamming them both together. Easier to get in & get out to leave. As long as everyone is paying attention, reading the signs, it moves by dry smooth. Very happy with how the airport is now & the expansion of terminal 1 will be incredible. Cannot wait to see.

For those connecting on swa flight be aware that southwest uses two terminals gates 1-10 and 11-18 that requires you to go thru TSA to go between each terminal. Food selection at gates 1-10 was ok, no sit down dinning at one, other is a sports bar setup. Two locations have basic same food. There is a coffee shop and quick pickup stand. Seating at gates is ok. There are plugs and USB plugs in some seats and there are plug/charge stations on both sides entrance/exit of terminal. Terminal with gates 1-10 does date itself as it's one of those round type. Overall experience was good.

This airport was a quiet and pleasant experience for my first time arrival. By the time we deplaned, used the restroom and headed to baggage claim #5, the remaining bags were being gathered already! What? We were the last ones to get our bag, which the airport guy had already put on his cart. I was not expecting the bags at all to be on the carousel!! Getting to the rental car center across the street for the shuttle bus was easy-breezy. Leaving the airport around noon, well my picture says it all.

Very easy pick up and drop off location. The airport felt nice and clean. Convenient stores are not open late at night. The signs are easy to follow and elevators, escalators are available everywhere for convenience. Wheelchair accessible as well. Pick up locations are marked with letters and numbers.

First time at this airport. Very spacious and airy. Very modern architecturally. I always have to mention the bathrooms. Women bathroom spacious and each stall had two hooks with ample space for your luggage. The doors are pretty close to the floor. You have to bend down to see any feet. Not a big deal if you're flexible. I didn't check any luggage but it was easy to find baggage claim. We did get a rental so had to take the shuttle. There is a queue to the rental center which is about 7 minutes away. I want to shout out to Linda. She made our quick trip go faster. She led us in some sing a longs and tongue twisters. One passenger teased her with "Irish wrist watch". That one is hard! It was a good end to our trip.

The rental car center is a longer ways away from the airport than I expected. All in all, it was fine, though. Our SW flight was on-time, flight crew was attentive and kind! Our car rental pick up bus driver was awesome with a packed bus of passengers and luggage (didn't catch her name). Our Alamo car rental agents (at the desk (Ali), at the booth to choose our car rental (Arielle), and at the booth to check out (Renee) were efficient with pleasant, upbeat, and gracious vibes (we did arrive around at a late hour, around 1130pm/12 midnight to pick up our car rental). It was really good to see and feel that because we had a long day of travel....with a 2 year-old toddler in tow.

It's better than the Austin, TX airport for food. The gate section I went to for American Airlines in San Diego had a Jack in the Box so I could get breakfast for under $8 that would fill me up for several hours versus a $19 burrito meal in Austin with a burrito the size of a large egg roll, small drink, and small side that would leave me hungry.

Security was efficient and I was almost instantly given a pat down without having to wait 5-10 minutes like other airports.

Streamlined. The terminals & gates are very close in proximity to the check in. There are several shops before airport security, so you and who ever you're with can meander about for a bit if you arrive early. I have TSAPre, but was still required to remove my laptop & 3oz liquids 🤔

Staff at this airport really go out of their way to make for a comforting experience for travelers. The facility is modern and clean, there are many amenities including fast internet, charging stations, and nice waiting areas. From security to corridor drivers, everyone is friendly and professional. Below is a therapy dog, many of them walk around, you can pet them while you wait for your flight. San Diego has been my portal to international flights, thank you for making it consistently pleasant!

Terminal 1 sucks, it's quite unfortunate that Southwest exclusively uses terminal 1. The entire terminal is cramped and crowded, including the seating area. The ceilings are low, and the circular hallway is a bit disorienting. They also got rid of the sky bridge for some reason.

Their security still requires you take out your laptop for some of the scanning machines

Can't wait for the new terminal 1, but I probably won't be in San Diego when it opens

Not enough restaurants. Folks everywhere in line, and very densely packed gates. There's just a crush of people by the gates. And, there is a lot of construction right now, so it's not safe to walk to the cruise terminal. They have a helpful information desk by baggage claim.

Airport is much larger than I thought. Signage is good. I arrived early evening and several places were closed. Traffic was moving fairly well. Off-site parking is the best for picking up. Waited less than 10 minutes for the shuttle. It's also very convenient to take the bus (which is free in the city until Labor Day, I believe) to the train station, then take the Coaster north for just a few dollars. Parking is free at the train station.

Medium sized airport. Very neat and we'll maintain. Convenience stores are also available. Coffee shops are there. The staff is very polite and friendly. Easy to locate pick and drop facility. Free bus service is also available till the main market. Presently some renovations are on. It's mostly a crowded and busy airport, so it is advisable to reach 1 hour before to avoid unnecessary delay .

Airport is clean and easy to manoeuvre around. Shops and food are spread out well and things well labelled. March 2023 there is construction on the go to increase the airport size current has two different terminals, however there was no negative impact with this construction.

Medium size airport. On weekday evening, it takes me maybe 5 + 10 min for tsa and security check at terminal 2. Traffic is not too bad. I don't know why guests can access luggage carousel.

I like the San Diego Airport. It is spacious; feels airy. Seats are spaced apart and has outlets for phone charging. I like the alternate seating of three. It even has a room labeled pet relief. For the transportation, there is a separate area for the Ubers and Lyfts. There is even the space for Uber XL. The security check officer who checked our IDs had even a sense of humor. I like the lighthearted exchange with him, though how brief it was.
