Very nice airport. Lots of New Mexican artwork, a bi-plane, Native American statue. Decent shops. Seems to not get too crowded here often. I’ve been here maybe 10-15 times and I don’t think it has ever taken longer than 30 minutes to get from departure drop off through security to my gate.

Small easily navigated and well appointed airport. I love the upstairs lounge that faces the mountains. A peaceful place to relax while waiting. More tables have been added with outlets and space to work if needed.

Very convenient airport. If you have your boarding pass and no luggage to check in, you go directly to TSA. There are various food outlets both before and after security. There is even a store right next to the gates! Everyone I encountered were very nice.

For an airport it's five stars. It's small but not crowded. Plenty of comfortable seating, nice interior decor. Easy to get in and out of. Ground transportation easy and quick to get the rental car. Not very much selection on the food items inside the terminal.

The ABQ Sunport is great. It’s small enough for a home time vibe, and it usually isn’t too busy. Like all airports, it has its times it can be busy, but usually the security line is short and it’s easy to navigate through the building. They are currently renovating the place inside, but the outside is nice with LED colors and the nearby parking is good as well.

Very cute airport. Not a whole lot of seating and eating options as this is a small airport needed for a small amount of traffic. Once i stepped out of the plane, i already felt like i was in a different country. The stores have cool things to purchase and outside gate area there is a first place to get the famous Mexican hot chocolate. The car rental area is super easy and close by to get to with shuttle. Very easy to get around and pretty airport.

Amazing! Such a beautiful introduction to Albuquerque. I've been flying in to this airport since I was a little kid to see my grandparents and now my mom. I even saw B.B. King at baggage claim with his guitar case covered in stickers back in the 80's. Many great memories. Thank you for always welcoming me home!

This is a relatively small airport. So it's not as crowded as other major city airports. The security check line is usually shorter and you don't need to arrive at the airport too early to catch the flight. The food choices are very limited inside the airport. So it's better to grab food before coming to the airport.

Very enjoyable airport. Appropriately sized, good signage, palatable service, wish there were more vegan food options, but otherwise great. Clean bathrooms. Interesting air and exhibits to see, plenty of available outlets to charge devices prior to your plane ride. Also has enjoyable architectural features indicative of surrounding cultures. Even had a meditation room! Enjoyed my time here.

easy small airport with friendly staff.

theres an observation lounge thats nice to watch the planes but needs more charging ports. charging ports are needed as well at the gate waiting areas. food options are ok. restrooms are relatively clean and they have a water filling station.

Easy to use - car rental guy from Thrifty even dropped us off to save getting shuttle. Check in at American Airlines was a dream, fast efficient staff and no queues, even security was well staffed to mean virtually no queue. Decent range of shops and eating places. Friendly people and more care than in a hub where numbers and flights are crazy.

Great airport. Easy to navigate. Great restaurant in the center inside the gates as well as just outside security. It is however the airport where I have had the most flights canceled or delayed. Ow well. Order the margarita and relax. Or hit the 377 Brewery if you have to stay overnight. #landofenchantment

Magnificent airport. Stylish and so unique. Yeah, it's not so big but who cares. I love the atmosphere in there. I was walking around as if I was in some kinda museum. The ceiling took my attention for half an hour at least 😂 would love to come back here again

Lots of friendly and helpful people. TSA was courteous and efficient while handling my extra needs with our knee scooter. We ate dinner and we're assisted without having to wait in line. The bathroom facilities were clean and well maintained.

Of all the airports we've traveled through this is probably the most traveler friendly of them all. Kudos to the original designers and the city of Albuq. for their ongoing work in keeping the facility nice and well managed.

Small but nice, I loved that they had power bars (outlet multipliers) running the length of the tables! It really came in handy! I recommend coming early to get a seat at them, as there are only a couple at each gate 😉.

The stores were plentiful but pricey, it is an airport after all🤷🏻‍♂️.

The weather here is pretty consistently sunny and warm so the flights run on time and delays are rare for the most part.

The staff are friendly and helpful so that's always enjoyable!

It was almost empty. Got through security in five minutes. Southwest is doing a good job getting people on while minimizing contact. TSA had their full staff there, even with not much to do.

Great small airport- professional, fast and friendly. Clean and plenty of restaurants if your hungry. Cool exhibitions of balloons and model planes worth checking out. Well done Sunport!!!

Nice airport but they struggle with recent impacts. Travelers should anticipate rental car shuttle bus wait times of up to 20 minutes and then be prepared for 20+ riders on a trip so social distancing is not currently possible. TSA staff were very friendly and the short lines moved quickly.

The Albuquerque Sunport is a mid- / small-sized airport that has the cleanest restrooms you’ve ever been in (Alec Baldwin even posted a video about this). Security is always quick, parking options are numerous and easy, there are always interesting art displays in the lobby as well as STEM activities for children sometimes available in the gate areas, baggage claim is always quick. The single down-side(IMHO) is that you have to buy water inside security because if you fill your bottle at the numerous fill stations, it will taste like chlorine.

Pretty normal airport. I do like how they have art pieces on the wall and a few low rider exhibits. The chairs are spacious and southwestern style. The staff were friendly. The airport was clean.

Only weird thing was how empty the airport was. On a Saturday night it was beyond quiet, almost zombie apocalypse.

Extremely pleasant. Clean, small, decent food and drink options. Southwestern decor. Only minor negative is the floor isn't smooth in large areas, so roller bags don't roll perfectly.

As others have mentioned — this is a great airport. Staff is friendly and very efficient. It is the main airport I fly out of and while there is no lounge to hang out in (as I hope there is one day), it is almost not necessary as checking in and going through security is a breeze, the layout is simple and efficient, and it's a pleasure to fly out of here every time, not a big mess as happens to be the case at many other bigger (and not) airports.

The service, friendliness, and efficiency is some of the best. I want to commend the staff for making this such a great experience every time.

The airport is beautiful I love their color layout. My only complaint is being a disabled person it is so far to walk if you have to walk that you just can't do it. They have been real good about providing a wheelchair for me and assistance.

I love this airport. It's one reason I fell for Albuquerque. Being from a big city has its advantages but flying into this airport takes the cake. It's quiet, not hurried, and you can actually take your time and walk without getting ran over. Checkpoint is easy and it has never taken me more than 20 minutes from checkpoint to gate. This is the luxury of a smaller airport. Social distancing is able to be practiced. Sunport is alright by me.☺️🌇🌻

Small airport that feels like a warm welcome to Albuquerque NM, even with a large portion under renovation/ construction.

Came here on 10/7/23 during the balloon fiesta. It was a smooth experience coming into Albuquerque, they even had live musicians performing inside.

However, during my departure at the TSA security check, there was a sign to declare any undeveloped film; they needed to be manually inspected to avoid being damaged by the scanner's X-rays. Despite this, a friendly TSA agent informed me that one of my film cameras still had to go through the scanner. I had a few 400 ISO rolls that got scanned, which I later developed and found no defects with, thankfully.

All customer service was super friendly. TSA was kind and super nice with kid. At our gate this poor young lady on the flight leaving before us had lost her luggage...the level of kindness and helpfulness shown to her and finding her luggage she was able to get on plane. We all were cheering for her...to all the soccer players getting claps & cheering all throughout the airport. Was a heart filling experience in the airport.

Probably my favorite international airport to fly out of!

Albuquerque International Sunport is a fantastic airport that truly captures the spirit of the Southwest. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with beautiful Southwestern architecture and art that set a warm and inviting tone.

The airport is clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. The staff are friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile. Security lines move efficiently, and there are plenty of amenities to make your travel experience comfortable.

One of the highlights is the variety of local shops and restaurants that offer a taste of New Mexico’s unique culture and cuisine. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or looking for a souvenir, you’ll find plenty of options that reflect the local flavor. They used to have a Gardunio's restaurant which was a great example of New Mexican food.

The Sunport also offers great views of the surrounding Sangre de Cristo mountains. The overall atmosphere is calm and relaxed, which is a nice change from the hustle and bustle of larger airports.

Security lines here are so fast and the easiest in the country. You don't have to show up hours and hours before your flight to get to your gate.

I can honestly say this is one of my favorite smaller airports I’ve been to. Very easy to navigate, clean, and all of the local touches keeps you occupied while waiting for a flight. There are more than enough restaurants and gift shops for the size with many of the dining options offering great meals. (So much so that I typically buy something to bring home from there). The observation deck is also a great feature and really makes for an enjoyable experience pre flight.

Easy to navigate, clean. If you have a red eye be aware that TSA doesn’t open the checkpoint until 3:45 am and there’s no sign until you get to the top almost to the machines. There’s a sign at the bottom of the escalator that says ticketed passengers only beyond this point, that would be a great location for a sign stating the opening time. Passengers wouldn’t have to navigate the escalator twice to get back to the seating area.

Flying in and Flying out of the Albuquerque International Airport was a breeze.

Low key, older airport, very clean. The folks working the counters are very helpful. Our Skycap for Southwest Airlines, was super awesome and attentive.

The smoothie place is delicious, you have to try. I tried the Keva Delight with some pep!!

Would not mind passing through here anytime.

This is a great airport! The design and layout make it easy to board a flight. On this trip we had lots of bags. Dropping my wife at the curb and then parking the car, I returned to find all the bags checked and my wife with boarding passes in hand. The test of the boarding process was quite user friendly.

Clean, Big and spacious. Easy airport to navigate because it's small. A few good restaurants and they serve alcohol if your waiting. Security line moves quick. baggage pick up is fairly quick, 10min or so. Cover parking is $10, garage parking is $12 for the day.

10-16-23: Like many airports, there's construction going on, but good signage will get you where you want to go. There are plenty of seats, restrooms and eateries to keep you comfortable. Because of Balloon Fest, it was busier than usual (according to my sister who lives there). Appropriately sized airport for Albuquerque. Had a good time in Albuquerque.

The balloon festival is truly an amazing and unique experience. I don't care how old you are it will make you feel like kid in awe seeing all the balloons going up. I have traveled much of the world and seen many amazing sites, and truly the festival ranks with the best of them.

What a great little airport. Breezed through the dedicated TSA pre-check in minutes as it was well staffed and efficient. As you exit security, head straight upstairs to the public sky lounge for great seating and a wonderful view.

Easy in and easy out. Great airport with rustic old town charm. Full service amenities offered throughout the facilities to include a place for Rover to go pee. If you rent a car through Thrifty, they will drop you off at the terminal when you return your ride.

One of the best airports I've ever been to. its small and can get crowded at times, but it has a nice, cozy, southwestern theme to it. TSA is very fast and out of my past 8 years flying there, the longest you'll have to wait is 20 min. landing approaches are always breath taking, especially when you face the sandia mountains!

This is a small airport but has a really solid layout. It is easy to navigate throughout, and staff are friendly.

The flooring being bumpy is a little annoying when you are rolling suitcases throughout the airport. I would prefer a flat tile surface to dramatically lessen the noise.

The shops have a variety of drinks and snacks which is perfect.

There is decent food selection for full meals.

The baggage claim and ride pickup areas are very easy to navigate and understand.

Seating is plentiful but pretty outdated in style. I think the airport could use a big renovation which would put this at a 5/5.

I've been to quite a few airports throughout the world, and honestly Albuquerque Sunport takes the cake. It's clean, modern, adobe buildings and the staff is always lovely. Picking up family is easy because there is barely any traffic to get to the terminal. They are also quick on unloading the luggage which is helpful. The TSA agents are always kind and efficient. Just overall, a great travel experience. For a small airport, it provides the best service of any I've been to.

One of the best experience this small airport was. Immaculately clean, stylish comfortable leather chairs around for the passengers. Great dining options, gift shops, clean restrooms, easy fast access everywhere. I loved the beautifully organized and displayed aircrafts models that showed every single planes from the past until now.

I love going up to the observation deck. You can eat and drink, take off the masks, and watch the planes land and take off while leisurely relaxing and waiting for your flight. One of the better things about the Sunport Airport. If you're here, or just passing through, give it a try.

The security checks are good, only one store open before the checkpoint. Also, the parking garage, all is well until you try to leave. They are set for self service. We were paying cash, fee was $5 and only had a $20, didn't see change back. They did take card, but I'd already put my bill in. A bit of a let down there.

Given that ABQ and NM are not as populated as other states like TX, this airport has a lot of personality. The moment you walk off the plane and step into the airport, you feel something different. The red tile is certainly very common to find in a lot of NM households. I instantly feel like I’m back in the Land of Enchantment when I see the red tile covered all over the airport anytime I go out of state and come back. There’s also a nice food court and a lot of New Mexican food worth trying if you have the time. Overall, I would say this is a great airport!

This is a decent sized airport served by national airlines. It is easy to travel from gates to luggage and transportation.  Ride share area is clearly identified.

There is a good variety of restaurants inside, as well as shopping.

This isn't a massive airport with multiple terminals, but you'd never know it from the large spaces and video screens present.

I love Sunport. I've flown into and out of many airports and it's always a relief to be in a mid sized, regional airport. No trams, terminal buses, subways, or thirty minute walks to your gate or baggage claim. It's one of the simple pleasures that make commuting in and out of Albuquerque a snap. Oh, and it's well maintained and always clean.

First of all, our shuttle driver was very nice. Second, we got through security really fast. THANK YOU! Third, the lady at baggage check gave no- nonsense instructions and kept us all moving. I applaud her. Good job, ABQ!

Great small southwestern airport. Comfy, quaint, and kind helpful customer service. Ample restrooms and easy to navigate.

The restrooms are nice and large! Easy to accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, and luggage. They are super clean and nice. The floor was shining bright - looked freshly waxed.

Update- baggage claim was LIGHTNING fast. I sat at baggage claim for 10 min before realizing the bags were already done. Customer service had the bags in the office and checked our tags and kept our bags safe.

Update: 05/2023. The airport is undergoing renovation. The TSA pre lane and other check-in lanes may look quite confusing. I saw quite a few people getting into the TSA pre lane and then had to go back to the other lanes. There are many plane models on display on the level of airline luggage check in level. It's a fun thing to check out for families with kids.

Update: 2023/02. Travel has come back. The airport is much more crowded now than half a year ago.

This is a relatively small airport. So it's not as crowded as other major city airports. The security check line is usually shorter and you don't need to arrive at the airport too early to catch the flight. The food choices are very limited inside the airport. So it's better to grab food before coming to the airport.

Comfortable, secure, easy to navigate airport with automatic doors when exiting the main concourse. Signage is easy to find, easy to read and easy to follow. The baggage claim area is spacious, with simplicity making luggage retrieval quick and painless. Access to and from the airport was simple. Tap 👍 if this was helpful.

TSA was friendly! Unheard of in airports today. Of course, I was traveling in the early stages of the Covid-19 period so the place being empty must've put a lot less stress on them. The whole process was smooth and easy.

1 2 3 4 5
Not a big airport, so the likelihood of getting lost is slim to none. Drop off is usually smooth sailing, same for pick and it shouldn't take long from the cellphone waiting area. All in all, not a bad place to travel through. If you are traveling late pick up food before you go, everything in the airport will be closed. I definitely suggest being at least an hour early, but depending on when you're traveling security shouldn't take that long. Safe travels everyone!

Appropriately southwestern decor and vibe. Small, so it's easy to get between gates. But, rental car facility and bus add 15 minutes, and they're pretty scarce on food variety beyond security. Improvements coming in 2024, though. This is the place to go on the way to the Balloon Fiesta!

Easy to navigate through, thanks in part to its small size. It has all the standard amenities of an airport. Kept clean. The security was painless, as was checking in. My one complaint is that the location doesn’t offer too many direct flights, but there isn’t much they can do about that.

as airports go Sunport is one of the best. its spotless, clean as a whistle and most of the time the people that work there are very pleasant. the gift shops offer locally made items which is uniqie for an airport. the pricing is fair, too. I have purchased earrings, soap, spice blends, little bags for my purse, even a nightlight. the food offerings are decent, too. not the best but satisfying. I like the green chile stew at Tia Juanita's the most.

Well designed. Fast and efficient.

Ticketing flows into the security check area. Security check is more than sufficient for the size of the airport.

Baggage claim is easy to access, when coming off of a flight.

The rental car center is in a separate location, but it's easy to get a shuttle to your pickup location.

I want to visit the observation deck! I'd also like to visit the original terminal, mentioned below. I'd love to do more photography in this airport. The architecture is classic Southwest! What a great way to start a New Mexico vacation!

All in all, not a bad place to travel through. If you are traveling late pick up food before you go, everything in the airport will be closed. Safe travels everyone!

I really like ABQ's airport. It is one of the most unique airports in the U.S. It is smaller and not as busy has some of the larger airports. The security is not bad and I've always gotten through it when I arrive and hour before my flight. Lot of New Mexico cultural art in it. Service has been good, given it is airlines and they can be very difficult.

All the staff is very kind and courteous!!!

The airport overall is also very organized. My family has been in and out of the airport over the past several years. Even in these trying times, it is still a very good place.

Hopefully, the airport managers appreciate the well-done job of its hard-working employees!!!

A great airport for a medium sized city. The main hall is like no other airport's. It truly showcases New Mexican architecture. With only two small concourses, it is very easy to navigate through the airport. Typical food and shopping options as in any airport. Seating areas could use more power outlets.

I love the Sunport whenever I go on vacation! The staff is always amazing and check in is a breeze! It’s always clean and has amazing architecture in the building. I love the Adobe style! The parking is never crowded, and it’s so easy to get to the gates and to get on your flight. Can’t wait to set off to Fresno in July, maybe the best airports I’ve been too, way better than big city airports, I guess the small ones tucked away are the best!

I've been to four other airports in the last week and can say that this airport is the most unique. It's not a huge 24 hour Airport , such as Houston Intercontinental, but it gets the job done with New Mexican flair. My favorite aspects were the numerous indoor plants, the history of hot air balloons display, and the gift store with interesting items.

The room is big, sleeps up to 4 people; 1 king and a pull out sofa…we did not use the pull out sofa but it looks nice. Super easy to get to the hotel from the Highway ( takes so much stress off being able to come and go without getting turned around) room is very clean and reminds me of an old Victorian house with all the wood I’m the bathroom. The living area is more modern but I think it’s one of the cutest places I’ve stayed… top 3 for sure! Friendly staff… we did not eat breakfast; that is an extra charge for those who would like to try it. We only paid 145$ for the room which I think is very cheap.

Despite the pandemic this quaint airport has a ton of polite employees. Most restaurants are closed and water fountains are covered but you can get coffee, snacks and decent food at a few eateries in the main hub after security. Traffic moves smoothly throughout the airport. It's a bit strange that a state as large as New Mexico only has 1 large airport but it works.

Easy airport flying in and out. No lounges.

This airport is really close to the city, so it's pretty easy accessing the airport. The car rental is about 0.7 miles away, and there are free shuttles to get there. The signs make it easy to find. When I landed, it took me less than ten minutes to get on the car rental shuttle bus. It was that easy, and it was my first time there!

The gates were actually really clean. Carpet, seats, restrooms were all clean. I found water refill stations by the bathrooms easily.

I did run into an issue where the TSA x-ray machine wasn't working. I may have waited 5-10 minutes, so it wasn't bad. However, I felt they should have explained the situation instead of having everyone hold their hands on their heads wondering why their bags are stuck on the other side.

A nice little airport. Offsite car rental with bus service from the terminal. Security can be hit or miss, give yourself some time! Lots of local hotels and last not least there is an observation deck right in the center of gates A and B.

It's been a many years since I last came to this airport and I must say they have updated things. It looks like it is a bit bigger with more food options. It is still super fast as far as security which is a plus. I think overall since the last time I have been here the city as a whole has grown and I am grateful they have a direct flight back to Houston!

Convenient and small international airport. It is super easy to navigate and never really super busy. I fly southwest or delta out of this airport and have never had any kind of issues. Great places to eat and awesome souvenirs if you have a layover. Great airport that I never dread going to!

This is my hometown airport. The airport itself is not large. Very easy to get around and going through security is typically quick and easy. I also got to say that they have the most comfortable seats to sit on. They have large tables to sit at with docking station to charge your devices. Everyone is very friendly And always very polite.

The Sunport is a relatively small airport that operates pretty smoothly. It is clean and maintained well. The parking garage is located conveniently ($12 per day) but there is invoices parking too. The food selection is pretty good and the prices are those you can expect in an airport.

Let’s say it’s an okay size airport for what it is… one main terminal for all airlines checkin desks… Make sure to get there on time as security lines get packed… they do move at a descent pace but they can get long… just don’t get surprised and gates are at a short walk or long depending if you are going to the 10s

A chill airport, not crowded, with some nice exhibits on the history of planes in New Mexico?

Clean and empty. The meditation room is awesome. A great place to breathe and get rid of stress. It's in the baggage. Enjoy

One of the smaller international airports, but clean and efficient with plenty of food and drink options while you wait. The GA side has good FBOs for any if your GA needs including rentals, Instruction, and charters
