Carter Finley Stadium Parking Guide

Updated for current event-night routing and booking paths.

Carter-Finley Stadium sits west of Raleigh on Trinity Road, sharing a parking footprint with the Lenovo Center, the NC State Fairgrounds and the university's veterinary campus. That shared footprint is the whole story: which lot your pass names decides your price, your entrance, your walk, and how long it takes you to get out afterwards. The stadium's own address will not get you there. Here is what each official lot actually costs across the 2026 home slate, where the money is genuinely wasted, and the rules that catch people out on weeknights.

What official Carter-Finley parking costs in 2026

There is no flat rate. NC State prices each lot separately and then prices each lot differently by opponent, so the same parking spot swings by $60 depending on who NC State is playing. Richmond is the cheap week in every lot; Louisville and Duke are the expensive ones.

Official lotAddressRichmondApp State, Wake Forest, Cal, SyracuseLouisville, Duke
Highway 54 Lot5766 Chapel Hill Road$20$30$30
Westchase accessible lot4011 Westchase Blvd.$20$30$30
CVM Deck / Cardinal GibbonsVeterinary campus area$30$50$60
Frank Weedon Lot4700 Trinity Road$60$80$90

Day-of lots are cashless, credit and debit only. Passes can be bought online with game tickets or by calling the Athletics Ticket Office at 919-865-1510, and advance passes are physically mailed, so they must be purchased at least 10 days before the event to arrive in time.

One warning about NC State's own pages: the athletics department publishes parking prices in two places, and as of this writing they disagree. The Carter-Finley Stadium Guide still shows an older grid built around a different opponent list. The August tailgating and parking page carries the current one. If the two conflict, the tailgating page is the newer document.

What we found pricing the full 2026 home slate

Almost every guide to this stadium lists the per-game prices and stops. Nobody runs the season total, which is where the real number lives. Using NC State's published 2026 grid across all seven home games, here is what each lot costs a fan who attends every one:

LotSeason total, 7 home gamesCost vs cheapestWhat the premium buys
Highway 54 Lot$200Baseline. Off-site on Chapel Hill Road.
Westchase accessible lot$200$0Same price, plus the Gate 11 shuttle. Requires a valid ADA placard.
CVM Deck / Cardinal Gibbons$350+$150Closer in, deck structure. Shut until 5 p.m. on weeknights.
Frank Weedon Lot$560+$360Trinity Road frontage, closest of the paid options.

The gap is $360 a season between the cheapest and the priciest official option at the same stadium, for the same seven games. On a single Duke ticket the spread is $30 against $90. That is the decision worth making deliberately, and it is worth making before you are on Trinity Road with traffic control waving you somewhere you did not choose.

The stadium address is not your address

The Ammons Family Ticket Center is at 4600 Trinity Road, Raleigh, NC 27607. Do not type it into your phone as a parking destination. Your pass routes you to Chapel Hill Road, Westchase Boulevard, Trinity Road, Edwards Mill Road or another entrance entirely, and the difference is not academic when traffic control is running one-way patterns.

2026 makes this worse than usual. NC State warns that major construction along Blue Ridge, Hillsborough, I-440 and Wade is changing traffic patterns throughout the season, and that leaving after the game will take longer than in past years.

  1. Open the pass and confirm the lot name and its assigned entrance.
  2. Enter the lot address in your navigation app, not “Carter-Finley Stadium”.
  3. Check the official parking and traffic map for your specific event.
  4. Follow police and parking staff even when they contradict your phone.
  5. Decide your postgame route before kickoff. Outbound traffic gets directed away from the road you came in on.

When the gates open, and the weeknight exception

All parking gates open five hours before kickoff, and vehicles are not permitted to line up on public roads before the gates open. Unattended vehicles left in a roadway or public right-of-way are subject to tow at the owner's expense.

The exception that ruins weeknight plans: for weekday games, Westchase and Cardinal Gibbons do not open until 5 p.m. If you hold a pass for either and you were planning a long weeknight tailgate, the five-hour rule does not apply to you. Check your lot, not the general rule.

Concerts, commencement and Fairgrounds events run their own timelines. The five-hour figure is a football rule, not a stadium rule.

Accessible parking and the Gate 11 shuttle

Accessible season parking is sold on a priority basis through the Wolfpack Club. A limited number of game-day accessible spaces sit in the Westchase Handicap Lot, with a shuttle running to and from Gate 11 that begins when the lots open. Vehicles must display a valid ADA placard at all times on game day alongside the parking pass.

Westchase accessible parking is priced identically to the Highway 54 Lot: $20 for Richmond, $30 for every other 2026 home game. Availability is limited, so confirm before you travel rather than on arrival.

Do not carry these instructions across to other events. For University Commencement, NC State charges nothing for parking, routes accessible vehicles through Gate C off Trinity Road, and assigns them to the Stadium West Lot, where parts of the surface are gravel and golf carts shuttle guests in. Same stadium, completely different plan.

Tailgating rules that actually get enforced

Tailgating is permitted, but your setup has to stay inside your assigned space and travel lanes have to stay clear. NC State's policy regulates grills and fire devices by type and distance, prohibits amplified sound, and bans drones or unmanned aerial vehicles on or over university property. Written permission from NC State Athletics Facilities at 919-515-7369 is required before making any physical change to an assigned parking space.

Read the full policy before you load a generator, a large tent or anything with an open flame. A setup that spills into the neighbouring space or a travel lane can be ordered to move mid-tailgate.

Rideshare, RV and bus parking

Rideshare and drop-off. This is the rule most visitors get wrong: NC State's football parking policy states that no drop-off is allowed on the grounds of Carter-Finley Stadium. Plan a meeting point off the stadium footprint rather than assuming your driver can reach a gate. Special events set their own zones; commencement, for example, permits drop-offs only at Bunn Field on the corner of Youth Center Drive and Trinity Road.

RV parking. For non-reserved RV parking, NC State directs fans to the NC State Fairgrounds at 919-612-6767. That lot also opens five hours before kickoff.

Bus parking. Passes must be bought in advance through the Athletics Ticket Office at 919-865-1510 or [email protected]. Permitted buses enter through Gate E and park around the Lenovo Center. Availability is limited and buses without a pass will not be accommodated.

Frequently asked questions

Is parking free at Carter-Finley Stadium?
Not for football. NC State football uses permit parking plus paid day-of options ranging from $20 to $90. University Commencement is the notable exception: NC State charges nothing for parking at that ceremony. Other special events set their own rules.

Can I pay for NC State football parking when I arrive?
Sometimes, but it is not guaranteed. Day-of passes are limited, cashless, and first come first served. Everything on the stadium grounds itself requires a valid permit.

What is the cheapest official NC State football parking?
The Highway 54 Lot at 5766 Chapel Hill Road, at $20 for Richmond and $30 for every remaining 2026 home game. The Westchase accessible lot matches that price for placard holders.

How much more is Frank Weedon than Highway 54?
Between $40 and $60 per game. Across the full seven-game 2026 home slate, Frank Weedon runs $560 against $200 for Highway 54, a difference of $360.

What time do the parking lots open?
Five hours before kickoff for football, and vehicles may not line up on public roads before then. For weekday games, Westchase and Cardinal Gibbons do not open until 5 p.m.

Can I be dropped off at Carter-Finley Stadium?
Not on the stadium grounds on football game days. NC State's parking policy prohibits it. Arrange a meeting point off the footprint instead.

Can I tailgate in my parking space?
Yes for football, within the rules. Keep tents and equipment inside your assigned space, leave travel lanes clear, and note that amplified sound and drones are prohibited.

Where is the official parking map?
NC State publishes football parking and ingress/egress maps through its Stadium Maps & Parking hub. Check it again close to your event, because 2026 construction is changing routes during the season.
