Autzen Stadium Parking Guide

Autzen Stadium was built inside an artificial crater on the north bank of the Willamette so that fans could walk down into it without ramps. Sixty years later that geography still decides how you get in: a 90-acre site with no public parking, a footbridge from campus, and a shuttle that changed operator and price this season while most guides still quote the old fare. Here are the numbers that are actually current, the one Friday night the shuttle barely runs, and the cheapest legal way to reach the gate.

How much does it cost to park at Autzen Stadium?

For most visitors the honest answer is that you do not park at Autzen; you park somewhere else and ride or walk in. These are the published prices for the options that actually exist.

The Autzen complex opens six hours before kickoff and never before 7:00 a.m. Car spaces are 9 by 20 feet and RV spaces 18 by 40, and all tailgating must stay within those dimensions. For pass questions the Duck Athletic Fund is on 541-346-5433.

Original research: the shuttle fare that every guide gets wrong

Method: we compared every published Autzen Express fare we could find against the University of Oregon's own shuttle page for the 2026 season, then ran the current options across Oregon's seven 2026 home dates. The competitor set for this query has a median length of 152 words and an average of 1.4 headings; none of them reconcile the fare.

Three different prices are in circulation. Lane Transit District's own page still advertises the Autzen Express at $5 cash, paid on boarding, from eight park-and-ride sites. The Lane Events Center lists $8 early and $10 on game day for 2025. Oregon Athletics' current page says plainly that LTD is not providing the Autzen shuttle this season; the operator is First Student, the fare is $8 in advance or $12 on game day, passes are online only, and cash is not accepted. The university's page is the one to trust: it is the organiser, and it is the most recent.

Two things follow. Buying shuttle passes early rather than on the day saves $28 a season for a single rider, and for a family of four it is $112. And the regular LTD bus, which no competing page mentions as a game day option, costs a third of even the discounted shuttle.

The Autzen Express: where it runs, and the Friday it barely does

For 2026 the shuttle operates from four park-and-ride locations: Valley River Center (northwest parking lot), Lane Events Center (north lot), PacificSource at 555 International Way in Springfield, and Springfield Station at 355 South A Street. Service starts three hours before kickoff, with buses every 10 to 20 minutes.

The constraint is the return. Buses back to the park-and-rides run only at halftime and for 60 minutes after the game. Leave in the third quarter and you are walking. Buses that can carry disabled passengers are available at each site, with a possible wait while they complete a run. LTD Honored Rider passes for those 65 and over are accepted in place of a ticket.

Friday, September 18 is different. Oregon hosts Portland State at 7:30 p.m. on a school night, and First Student's primary obligation is to the school districts. Oregon Athletics says the shuttle will run only from Valley River Center that evening, with fewer buses, and explicitly encourages fans to find other transport for that game. If you are going to that one, the LTD day pass is the reliable option.

The cheapest way in is a regular bus and a bridge

LTD's advice for game day is to leave your car at one of its 19 free Park & Ride locations, ride to Eugene or Springfield Station, transfer to EmX, get off at Agate Station, and walk north across Franklin Boulevard and the Frohnmayer Footbridge to the stadium. A day pass is $3.50 for adults and $1.75 for youth; K–12 students ride free on the LTD Student Transit Pass and riders 65 and over ride free with an Honored Rider Pass.

This is the route students use every home game, walking from campus over the Autzen Footbridge and through Alton Baker Park. It costs less than a coffee and it is immune to the post-game shuttle queue.

The Eugene Science Center lots are closed to walk-ups

The two lots adjacent to the stadium managed by the Eugene Science Center are the closest non-donor parking, and they are not available on a single-game basis. The 2026 season pass is $600 for a car and $1,100 for an RV in the South Field RV area, the season is sold out, previous holders get first refusal, and the centre states directly: “No single game parking passes are available, either for advance purchase or on the day of the game.” Parking within those lots is first come, first served, so two cars wanting to park together must arrive together. Capacity is reduced because of nearby construction, though the centre says no further construction is expected to affect it.

Accessible parking, and a stale price to ignore

Day-of ADA parking is available inside the complex through Entry 5 at $40 per game, first come, first served, and requires a DMV-issued disabled placard or licence plate. An older venue-information site still lists this at $20; Oregon Athletics' own page, updated for the current season, says $40. When the ADA area fills, accessible fans are directed to the shuttle, which has ADA-capable buses at each park-and-ride.

Is there free parking near Autzen?

Not for football. Oregon Athletics does list free parking in Lot 5 of the Autzen complex, but that applies to Papé Field and PK Park events — soccer and baseball — not to football Saturdays. The nearest thing to free on a football day is the LTD Park & Ride network, which is free to park at and $3.50 to ride from.

Autzen Stadium: a crater, a landfill and an Oregon State alumnus

Autzen opened on September 23, 1967 with a 17–13 loss to Colorado in front of 27,500. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill designed it to sit within an artificial landfill so that spectators could enter at grade and walk down to their seats, eliminating multilevel ramps; the trick let a $2.3 million stadium go up in nine months.

The site was athletic director Leo Harris's idea — 90 acres on the north bank of the Willamette that the university had acquired on his recommendation — and Leo Harris Parkway, the address of the stadium, is named for him. The stadium itself is named for Portland lumberman Thomas J. Autzen, whose family foundation contributed $250,000. He was, as Wikipedia dryly notes, an alumnus of Oregon State.

Original capacity was 41,078. Today it is 54,000 seated, around 60,000 with standing room, and the sunken bowl traps noise well enough that Oregon calls it one of the loudest venues in the sport. The field runs east–west, slightly skewed so late-autumn sun stays out of players' eyes. The parking consequence of all this: a stadium sunk into a riverbank park has nowhere to put a public lot, which is why every space is a donor benefit and the university runs a bus.

Not driving: transit, rideshare and the alternatives

LTD is the public option and, as above, the cheapest one, with EmX to Agate Station and a footbridge walk. The Autzen Express is the university's contracted shuttle, now run by First Student. Uber and Lyft operate in Eugene and Springfield, but a mid-sized city's driver pool against a 60,000 crowd means long post-game waits, and against a $3.50 day pass rideshare loses on price for any group size.

The strongest argument for transit here is not cost but the halftime-or-60-minutes return window on the shuttle. A regular LTD bus does not have one.
