Lovely hotel, the staff is very accommodating. Had dinner at Mr. D's. The Korean wings were a little salty, and the Manager was apologetic and didn't charge us for it. He also offered to replace it if I so desired. My friend ordered the Argentine Burger which he said was delicious. The lobster bisque was also delicious. I love the layout of the hotel.

A lovely place to stay in when in Albany. It has a lovely and classy decor, from the lobby to bedrooms. It also has a nice atrium with well-tended plants and lovely fountain- nice and restful area for winding down. The fairy lights make it even more beautiful at night. Seems like many companies/organizations hold meetings here too. And there is a nice restaurant attached to it. I only had breakfast there, and I enjoyed my food, and so did my parents. The cost of breakfast was very reasonable given the great quality. The receptionist who checked us in was really warm and friendly

Great hotel and staff! I do a decent amount of traveling for work and I really enjoyed my stay here. The room was excellent and the food great! Everything seemed newly renovated. Not too many hotels out there where you can grab a cocktail by a real wood fire.

The staff (Christina) are as wonderful as the actually hotel. I travel throughout the Northeast for work so I have had the opportunity to experience various 2-4 star hotels and the Desmond hits on all cylinders. Clean, updated, convenient, great staff. I am a flight attendant and I got in late last night with my crew after a flight. I had a bit of a room issue, and when I called the front desk I spoke with Tim. He was so considerate and was very apologetic. He quickly and efficiently moved me to another room, and to my surprise I got a kind note apologizing again for the situation. Tim is very professional, quick, and kind. His customer service is amazing, he needs a raise! :) I got a voucher for breakfast and the host and server were delightful as well. Food was sooo good and my stay was 10/10, I hope I have overnights here more often!!!!! Thank you Tim and Crowne Plaza!

Very nice large clean hotel with plenty of space for events and chill time. Love how you feel outside while being inside colonial type feeling. Big gym with cross training type equipment and heavy dumbbells up to 50lbs. Location is good across the street from a few restaurants and local eats.

Great hotel close to the Albany airport. Very clean rooms, and cool property inside and out. They even have a pretty nice restaurant on site that has great food and drinks. They also have a bunch of conference rooms that you can host meetings or even weddings in.

Room bed sheets were new and many other perks to staying here. They also offer membership points, you accumulate good amount of points on your first check in ✅. We came for waterfalls and Druthers ( macaroni and cheese). It’s nice clean renovated room but no refrigerator. Elevator is old but still good. You will get a nice complimentary breakfast if you are platinum IHG member. Best breakfast we ever ate.

I was here for the FOP conference and it was a wonderful experience. I had a problem at this hotel but let me tell you customer service is everything. Renee took care of my issue and I was very satisfied.

The hotel is very nice updated and modern and close to a lot of important things. Mall not to far target, Whole Foods. Really nice.

Always classy but not stuffy. Attended a wedding. Cocktail hour had excellent food and adult beverages. The dinner's tenderloin was perhaps a tad overdone - and it is difficult to generate great taste with tenderloin. The whipped potato puff needed more seasoning also.

This is a nice place, I attended a meeting here and it was a great time. The atmosphere is very inviting and staff are welcoming. The interior design is reminiscent of an old village. The accommodated my dietary needs, serving Vegan dinner options and dairy free desserts. Recommend this place for casual or formal gatherings.

This hotel is beautiful. For those who need a place to stay, you won't be disappointed. The front desk check-in was friendly and fast. Show Evan some love when you go. He was abundantly helpful. He pratically mapped out how to get around the unique layout of the hotel. The first impression was great. Do not let the exterior fool you. The inside is spacious and modern. I want to talk about the staff. I would give the entire staff 10 stars if I could. This hotel accommodated March Madness teams, a wedding, and a 7 State Delegation Council on Friday, March 29th. Go over to the restaurant and enjoy the service of Dave, Tony, Danielle, Ava, and Hayley. Bring your groups here, and have your wedding here. The Crown Plaza has thee best Bartenders and Management I've ever experienced. Thank you all for a memorable evening! Just book the room and enjoy yourself.

Had a wonderful stay in one of the newly renovated rooms. I love the fresh new look. The staff was wonderful and great with my son. The young lady at the front desk let him choose what floor he wanted to stay on (he definitely chose well), everytime we were in the lobby area both her and the doorman were sure to greet us and offer friendly conversation. The Desmond is a beautiful hotel and my son loved taking it all in especially the Koi pond and fountain. We ordered room service for dinner and the food was delicious, timely, reasonable, and the service was great. My only disappointment was the pool and pool area but given the hotel is under renovation I don't want to hold it against them because everything else about our stay was wonderful.

From start to finish, Amanda went above and beyond with her personal attention to the planning and organization of our wedding. We could not have asked for a better experience. First meeting with jack to decide the Desmond was perfect for our wedding to dealing with Joanne and samantha this crew doesn't miss a beat! They were amazing with all of our vendors, and having a wedding of 251 that puts a lot of pressure on the staff. Our guests are still talking about how well everything flowed, the food was amazing their rooms were great and our brunch the next morning was perfect after a fun party! Had a great experience overall with the hotel. The manager gave my kids some food to feed the coy fish. Wife and daughter loved the French toast! Couldn't hear any air planes even though the airport was close by. Indoor pool was very refreshing. Ample parking for our camper we were pulling.

I have never had a more pleasant experience. I was there this past Sunday and the staff made me feel beyond welcome, but the bartender Anthony went above and beyond what I would expect. He was fast, made amazing drinks and was extremely charismatic. I have never had more fun and felt more comfortable at any other bar! I would absolutely recommend going to Mr. D’s you will not be disappointed.

Been here before. Will go back again. Very nice clean place. Eat in bar grill restaurant on site. Always with a good crowd and great staff. Unique style with a large courtyard on the interior of the hotel. Always well kept and always hosting some sort of event. Close to everything right next to the highway and Wolf Road.

The hotel was beautiful and had a beautiful little villa in the middle of the hotel. The food at Mr.d's was incredible and the staff was very friendly. My only concern and critique for this hotel was that it's a mecca for weddings and events. We had a pretty nice room but we were up till 5am because people were screaming, running, slamming doors all night long. I would suggest asking if there is any big parties or events going on when you stay so you can ask to be moved away from the guest and events. We were told we weren't the only ones that had this complaint.

To say this was a great experience with being understatement and not valuing the staff and the property for all it deserves. I was first timer here on business. And I gotta say, this was an amazing place. The beauty of the courtyards, the Serenity of the Ponds, the absolute fantastically packed Gymnasium, was absolutely amazing. The staff at the front desk was beyond professional, kind, any generous the restaurant staff of Mr. D'S food was fantastic, including our fantastic waitress Tracy. This was a fabulous experience, and I suggested it. You come back and stay as long as you can LOL please tip. That is my professional opinion, of course. The people deserve a little extra because they are doing extreme amounts of extra work for us.

The hotel was beautiful. Easy parking and very close to lots of shopping and eating options. Pool was small but still nice. We had an inside room facing the courtyard where we witnessed lots of weddings and other events. Unfortunately because of this we could often hear music and laughing/screaming of guests. This was fine in the daytime, but I believe the hotel should discourage wedding guests from being loud after a certain time. It was hard to sleep when all we heard was yelling and laughing at 1 AM. Beds were comfy and room was clean. The balcony over the courtyard was nice too. Overall would stay again

Pretended a business meeting here in one of the conference rooms. The room was very clean and brightly lit with new lighting. The facility used to be called The Desmond Americana. The architecture is reminiscent of colonial America unfortunately when they updated the facility the lobby is Ultra Modern, well done but does not fit the overall architecture. It is disappointing that they have not seen fit to keep the original intent of the facility. I always loved the decor which was cozy and comfortable with many Colonial type accoutrements all gone now

Best hotel and convention center in the Capital District. Rooms are clean, peaceful, and spacious. Myriad options for large events and banquets. Mr. D's has great food, and great staff. If you have food allergies, the Chef or Restaurant manager will make sure your meal is free of any cross-contamination and ensure a safe dining experience for every single customer. Dave and Chef Dale made sure my food was perfect, and service from Shannon was great!

My son and I stayed here for the American Legion Mid-Winter Conference January 18 - 21, 2024 with a mixed experience. Upon arrival and during our first day and night the staff and facilities were awesome. Our mixed experience started our second day. Another guest directly above us decided to Indulge in the enjoyment of Marijuana usage to the point of it impacting others. The management staff on January 19 did very little to take care of the problem and the problem continued the next day. Not until 11pm our last night did the night manager move us to a new room and try to make things right. Well checking out we had the pleasure of the help from Renee the on duty supervisor who made things right and really showed Concern for our complaints. Thank you Renee. The overall staff are awesome here like anywhere there is always some who need extra training and for the management during our second day here they definitely would benefit from such training. Overall it was a good experiences here. Again thank you Renee.

The Desmond has always been good to us over the years. They are our first choice when having to travel to the Albany airport. We find the atmosphere and amenities can't be beat. You aren't stuck in your room. You can wander the enormous property, sit by the fire and get a meal on site. They have been generous to us when our flights have had delays, allowing us a few extra hours in our room. I can't recommend enough! P.S. While I appreciate the improvements to the lobby, I feel the decor and finishes aren't complimentary to the rest of the history of the hotel. I was sad to see the cozy lobby vibes gone. At least the fireplace remains!

Great room M15. Front desk was excellent. She was very busy and still took care of me. There is a exit door in my room and I am able to walk to my car and remove my luggage.The bedroom is up stair. Great bed. There are two bathrooms. There is a small refrigerator and a microwave. Excellent place to stay when going to the airport.

The property is lovely, and well maintained, including pool and workout room with updated equipment. Front desk staff are professional, attentive and dedicated. You will enjoy your stay here.

Beautiful hotel with great customer service. The rooms are clean and bright. The courtyard is really fun and unique. You can see the airport from the parking lot, and they have a shuttle that will drive you within a certain radius. Unfortunately, the beds are ridiculously uncomfortable. I barely slept due to individual springs stabbing me. The ac unit never got to temperature, and the room was muggy and hot. We even had a room with the updated ac system. Definitely not as nice as other IHG hotels, but still good.

Spent one night here for an event, fantastic dinner and breakfast, very good service, comfortable bed, quiet room that faced an interior mall and very interesting! Came here while visiting family over the holiday and it was a very decent place to stay. The hotel has really beautiful decorations on the inside and it had a really quite large open space.

Location was very convenient to the highway and airport which is a plus. My IHG status was recognized but no suite upgrade. Not a big deal, but would have been nice.

A nice hotel. It has a great gym as far as hotels go. They had a rowing machine, and they had a skierg, which I had never heard of, but it was cool! They also held a beer festival here, and that was a great experience, and it was so nice just being able to go up to the room when it was done, and they have a restaurant in the hotel.

Great hotel near the airport, but could barely hear the planes. Four poster bed. Clean, with a microwave and refrigerator (mini). Wished I could have used more of the amenities, but was only there one night. Desk service and Room service were both outstanding. I will be back and highly recommend.

The room is nothing overly special it is suitable for a night or two and has a bit of extra space. The hotel does have a nice restaurant with good service. The hotel also has a small gift shop. The interior courtyard has a pond with fish and a attractive large sitting area. They run conferences from here so it can be busy. Plenty of parking.

Gorgeous old world feel. I love the huge indoor courtyard, with access to 1st floor rooms, brick layout, koi ponds, terraces, and a sense of calm. Sure some of the rooms are basic, without a safe, microwave, or fridge, and the wall paper and antique looking furniture and bedposts gives this hotel characteristics of early New England. Staff is very friendly. As a Hilton Diamond Member staying in a non-Hilton hotel for work, I would take my family and kids here for pleasure stay, as they do have suites with more amenities.

I have been here for several conferences and the space is great, and the service and food was decent. I am sure some of the options were driven by conference budgets.

Mr. D’s and the Crown Plaza at the Desmond are a Capitol Region staple that has been around for close to 50 years. With the many upgrades made during COVID it is an ideal space for any event. The restaurant Mr. D’s is a best kept secret with great food even if you are not staying at the hotel. Their weekend brunch specials are amazing and the staff treat you like family Mike and Jack run a tight ship and should be commended for their commitment to the Desmond and Crowne Plaza brands!

Easy to get to and had a great little market by the front desk. The employees I encountered were very kind and accommodating but what most impressed me was getting compostable 'plasticware' for my salad and the plant-based refillable toiletries rather than the tiny ones. I'm not vegan but I really appreciate the cruelty-free offerings!

One thing I'd warn people of is being prepared to walk. A lot. If you need to make multiple trips or carry heavy luggage, Thankfully it's a beautiful hotel because you'll be doing some serious walking to the elevator or going up steps. It was EXHAUSTING and I took two showers an hour apart.

On the other hand, it was quite clean and had everything I needed, I suggest asking for a first floor room for convenience.

Got married here 20 years ago and everything was fantastic! First marriage didn't last, but I took my new Fiance there for a night and the place is still as wonderful as it was back then. Highly recommended!

The Crowne Plaza Albany is an absolute outstanding hotel that provides great quality rooms, superbly made meals and first class service.

In March of 2022, I brought and treated my wife and myself for a weekend stay at the Crowne Plaza Albany and we enjoyed every moment of our time at the hotel!!!

We were warmly welcomed and graciously treated by the hotel’s staff and our hotel room was quite spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean!!!

The highlight of the Crowne Plaza Albany and our favorite part of the hotel was its immaculate indoor courtyard.

The courtyard is filled with multiple dining areas, a gorgeous fountain and guests are able to view it from the comfort of their own room.

My wife and I also enjoyed our breakfast at Mr. D’s Restaurant & Lounge and found both our meal and the service of the restaurant’s staff to be superb!!!

Both my wife and I enjoyed our time and experience at the Crowne Plaza and definitely recommend for all travelers to stay at this wonderful hotel!!!

I have been going to The Desmond for over five years for various meetings and conferences. They never disappoint. The hotel is huge with only two floors. It is close to the airport, but you can barely hear the planes. The staff is always friendly and willing to help.

I stayed here years ago when it was still The Desmond in Colonie. It was such a unique hotel and I loved the romantic feel of it. The restaurant, courtyard, rooms... everything felt like a march back in time.

I'm a little sad to see how soulless this place looks now. All of the unique romantic touches have been replaced by cold modernism. I realize this was likely a necessary change, but I can't help but feel cheated by it. I've told so many people about this hotel over the years and looked forward to eventually going back.

We stayed in the presidential suite back then. Looking at it now.. I'm just kind of sad.

Great as ever. Attentive staff, beautiful decor, wonderful ‘colonial’ feel, and close to Albany Airport and two major Malls.

This time I was lucky enough to snag a duplex in the ‘Mansion’ part of the hotel. Downstairs features a lounge with sofa, tv and desk, as well as a bathroom; and upstairs a spacious bedroom and full bathroom.

Amenities include an exercise room, swimming pool, bar and dining room.

Needed a quick sleep after a late night arriving flight. Room was large, nice beds. But..... we could not get the temperature to fall below 70° all night long- too hot to sleep comfortably. Also, make sure to ask for a room away from the elevator- it is old and noisy. No breakfast, but the Starbucks is just down the road a minute.

This was a good experience for my first stay at a hotel! It was very comfortable and honestly didn't really feel like I had left home. I enjoyed the inner courtyards and the overall look and feel of it. Also, it is really close to places to eat.

Interesting hotel layout; it was built by American Airlines in 1974 when they tried to get into that business. Their theme was an old time America thing, which resulted in a unique hotel. The hotel has two atriums that are like old town squares. The hotel was clean and the staff was good. The meeting rooms were great, especially the theater. They have a shuttle to the airport, but not to the train station. Many people with my group arrived by rail, so that would have been nice. The place is obviously popular for weddings because I saw three while I was there. I was impressed with their catering. I went to a banquet there and the food was great.

Attended a conference here and stayed the night before. It was a great experience. Room comfortable, clean and quiet. Staff were friendly and professional. I had dinner in the restaurant; server was attentive and friendly. Food was very good; I had salad with salmon, nicely cooked and presented. The fireplace added to the ambience. The conference setting along with the staff and food was delightful. Thank you.

Told we could get food & service in courtyard, but found we couldn't. We had our little dog so my husband ate in the room with her while my dghtr, granddaughter & I went to restaurant. Otherwise things were great. Bathroom was immaculate.

The Desmond got some long overdue updates since my last stay a few years ago. The rooms, previously a 1970s time capsule, have joined the 21st century with new furniture, a fresh coat of paint, some nice new bathroom fixtures, and an air conditioner that pretends it can get the room all the way down to 50°F (didn't feel a click below 62).

The catering staff never disappoint, putting together delicious meals every time. If you've never had it before and get the chance to, definitely try the bread pudding. It is LIFE CHANGING.

Conveniently located next to the Albany Airport, the Northway, and a pretty cool karaoke bar (Maxie's), you really can't go wrong when you stay here.

Stayed here while in town for a Lacrosse Tournament. Location to highway access was perfect, literally right next to the on-ramp for easy commute (and I think the airport was right there too). Hotel was VERY CLEAN. Pool was a great option to keep the kids entertained during down times. Huge work out room. Staff was excellent and even cut us some slack on pool closing times so the kids still had an option to keep them occupied instead of being restless roaming the halls! The gentleman who checked us in was very kind, professional, courteous and informing. He gave great recommendations for dining out and also info on commute times since we chose this hotel which was 30 minutes from our tournament but more than half the price of hotels local to the tournament! The outside of the hotel is a bit deceiving but when we walked in to the lobby it was quite grand, bright, clean and very welcoming. There are areas of the hotel that look like outside is inside with fountain ponds that have Koi fish in them. Plenty of parking and a HUGE hotel. There were TWO WEDDINGS going on at the same time during our stay and it was quite impressive how little impact TWO weddings had on the hotel; they managed everything very smoothly and without the weddings taking away from our stay or vice versa. Very happy and will definitely refer friends and family and if we have the chance, we will choose this hotel again for another stay!

Nice, clean hotel with awesome staff and an enjoyable restaraunt and bar on site. Minutes away from the airport and local venues. The only minor deficiency is that there are no microwaves in the room but the staff can supply one if requested. Also the hotel elevators are in need of maintenance. Highly recommended for a short or long term stay.

My stay at The Desmond was comfortable, with their service being quick and helpful. The hotel itself is very beautiful with a courtyard filled with trees and decorations. It is very close to the airport and also to restaurants and a few cafes. Overall, I would recommend The Desmond Hotel.

My daughter and I were in the area for an overnight. In our initial check-in, we experienced a little mix-up with our assigned room. Luckily, Renee and Dave at the front desk were beyond accommodating to ensure we quickly had a room, even coming to the new room and assisting us. The room itself was nicely updated. We enjoyed dessert at Mr. D's, where the staff was very nice. The chef even came out to make sure she was enjoying it. Excellent customer service is hard to come by these days, and they were top-notch.
