Beautiful hotel, beautiful rooms.

There is no bathroom exhaust fan in our bathroom..not good. Breakfast was mostly cold, i.e. eggs, pancakes, French toast, and sausage. Next time, we use the hot breakfast chef at the omelet bar. No wonder everyone was using it.

Had to pay for parking... not good either.

Since we paid, we should have gotten covered parking, or at least it should be included in the $200 night cost!

Overall.. might be time to switch from Holiday Inn Express.

Great place to stay while in Charleston. The comp breakfast is the best I've had in a Hilton anywhere. They have a dinner menu that is very good as well. Common area is really nice to just relax alone or with a group.

My only Gripe is that you have to pay for parking.

Because I was attending a convention at this property, I felt I had to stay here, but having read the reviews, I had grave misgivings. While I'm not saying that anyone misrepresented their experience, I will say that I had an entirely pleasant experience. Is the hotel old and is the furniture somewhat dated? Well, yes, it is, but it was all as clean as could be and in good repair. I had daily housekeeping service, and everything I could need was supplied. The convention food was excellent (and for convention food, that's saying something!), the bar (both paid and free) had good drinks and good food. The service and the attitude of all the staff was cheerful and helpful. Like other Embassy Suites, there was an evening reception with snacks and free drinks, and the breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. Because it was a convention, I spent a lot of time walking back and forth to the convention center, both by going outside and by walking over the enclosed walkway--very convenient. Does this hotel need a refresh? Of course, and I understand that they will get it soon. But for me and for this particular 4-night stay, I was entirely pleased and I'm glad I didn't let reviews scare me off.
