Airport parking maximum stay at 33 U.S. airports
How long you can leave a car at the airport, taken from each airport's own parking page, FAQ or rules.
Short answer. Most large U.S. airports cap parking at 30 days: 18 of the 33 below. DFW allows the longest stay, 90 days, and so do Orlando's economy lots. Boston Logan allows 70 days, and Dallas Love Field, Houston Bush, Orlando Sanford, Phoenix and Southwest Florida allow 60. Austin and BWI set no hard limit.
Past the limit, airports treat the car as abandoned. Most tow or impound it at the owner's expense, Salt Lake City may relocate it, and Phoenix can sell it at public auction. Most let you stay longer if you arrange it before the limit. Oakland and Long Beach say they don't offer longer stays.

Booking ahead can mean a different limit
Online reservations carry their own cap, which can be shorter than the drive-up limit.
- DFW caps prebooked parking at 45 days, against 90 days for drive-up. (dfwairport.com)
- SFO lets a prebooked stay run 60 days. Its drive-up limit isn't on that page. (flysfo.com)
- Newark caps prebookings at 30 days, the same as drive-up. (parking.newarkairport.com)
- MSP caps bookings at 45 days. (mspairport.com)
- San Diego takes reservations from 1 to 60 days and publishes no drive-up limit. (san.org)
- Orlando caps Garage C reservations at 45 days. (flymco.com)
Airports that don't publish a limit
Atlanta (ATL), Nashville (BNA), Detroit (DTW), New Orleans (MSY), Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Albuquerque (ABQ) state no maximum stay on their parking pages. That doesn't mean there is no limit. Call the parking office before a trip of more than a few weeks.
What happens to a car left too long
- Towed or impounded: the usual outcome, at LAX, JFK, Newark, LaGuardia, Denver, Oakland and Long Beach among others, mostly at the owner's expense.
- Moved: Salt Lake City may relocate cars parked over 30 days.
- Sent to salvage: Pittsburgh tows abandoned cars to the Airport Authority's salvage lot for PennDOT's Abandoned Vehicle Unit.
- Sold: Phoenix says cars parked over 60 days can be sold at public auction.
Before a long trip
- Check which lots the limit covers. Orlando allows 90 days in its economy lots but 45 in its garages, and Miami allows 45 days in its garages but 20 at valet.
- If your trip runs past the limit, arrange it before you go, using the contact in the table.
- If you prebook, check the booking's own cap. At DFW it is 45 days, half the drive-up limit.
- Private lots near the airport set their own rules. Ask the lot before you book a long stay.
Frequently asked questions
How long can you leave your car at the airport?
At most large U.S. airports, 30 days. Of the 33 airports in this table, 18 set 30 days, 5 allow 45, 5 allow 60, Boston Logan allows 70 and DFW allows 90. Orlando allows 90 days in its economy lots, and Austin and BWI set no hard limit.
What happens if you leave your car at the airport too long?
The airport can treat it as abandoned. Most tow or impound it at the owner's expense. Salt Lake City may relocate it, Pittsburgh tows it to a salvage lot, and Phoenix can sell it at public auction after 60 days.
Can I leave my car at the airport for a month?
Yes, at every airport in the table, but 30 days is the limit at 18 of them. If your trip runs longer at one of those, arrange it first: JFK, Newark and LaGuardia ask you to register with ABM Parking, and Reagan National asks you to call 703-417-4300.
Do I need to tell the airport if I park for a long time?
Only past the limit. Charlotte allows 30 days and Houston Bush 60 days without notifying parking staff. Beyond the limit, use the contact in the table, or the car can be towed.
Is the limit different if I prebook?
Sometimes. DFW caps prebooked parking at 45 days, against 90 for drive-up, and MSP caps bookings at 45 days. SFO lets a prebooked stay run 60 days.
How we checked
We read each airport's parking page, FAQ, terms or rules on October 2, 2026 and recorded a limit only where the airport states one, with its exact wording. A row shows "Not published" where the airport is silent. Limits change, so check the airport's page before a long trip.
Disclosure: ParkingAccess sells off-airport parking at many of these airports. The limits here are the airports' own.
