This is no suburban parking ocean with a stadium in the middle. The Superdome is a downtown building at 1500 Sugar Bowl Drive with seven garages and two surface lots wrapped tight around it, about 7,000 spaces, sharing every one with the Smoothie King Center. Here the real question isn't which lot. It's whether to drive at all.
Fewer than most guides admit. The Saints sell a limited block in all five main garages to season-ticket holders before gameday; what's left on a Saints Sunday is Garage 1A, Lot 3 and Lot 3A, first come, first served. The official prebuy is JustPark EventPass. Across the whole 2026 Saints slate it lists exactly one facility: Champions Garage, 1401 Dave Dixon Dr, flat $61.00 all-in, 4-minute walk (0.2 mi). Passes are 100% mobile; garages take cards only.
Roughly $28 to $65 prepaid, and the closest garage isn't the priciest. Champions at $61 undercuts the Dave & Buster's deck at 1200 Poydras, $65 for a longer walk.

You can't tailgate in the official lots. The venue's A-to-Z guide is blunt: unauthorized tailgating is strictly prohibited across the parking facilities, and "tailgating is not allowed on Champions Square property or parking facilities." Re-entry and overnight parking are banned too. The sanctioned pregame is the Champions Square Tailgate, a 90,000 sq ft plaza off the Grand Staircase at Gate C: opens 3 hours before kickoff, entertainment ends 45 minutes before, ticketed guests only, screened at LaSalle St. or Sugar Bowl Dr., no re-entry. Gates open 2 hours out. Grills go in private CBD lots on Loyola Avenue and South Rampart Street. Garage access windows are set per event and run about four hours: 11:00 am–7:30 pm for the 3:15 pm Raiders game, 2:45 pm–11:30 pm for Monday night against the Falcons.
The Quarter is about 1.5 miles east, a straight 15 to 20 minute walk down Poydras, and for anyone on Bourbon or Royal that's the best option. If you'd rather ride, a correction: the 49 Loyola–Riverfront line was discontinued at the end of May 2025, and route 49 now belongs to the Riverfront streetcar, which doesn't go near the stadium. The Loyola Avenue line with a Poydras Street stop serving Champions Square, the Superdome and the Smoothie King Center is the 46 Rampart–Loyola; board at Canal and S. Rampart. Fares are $1.25 a ride, $3.00 for a 1-Day Jazzy Pass.
The pickup zone is geo-fenced, so you can't request a car until you're standing in it. Worse, the two official sites publish different addresses: the Saints gameday guide says Poydras between Loyola Avenue and Carondelet Street, the Superdome's directions page says Poydras between Clara Street and Loyola. Those are opposite sides of Loyola, so follow the "Rideshare Pickup" signage east, river-bound. The curbside drop-off on Poydras under the ramp is for immediate drop-off and pickup only; waiting is prohibited. Regulars walk four to six blocks toward the Warehouse District and request from a normal corner.
Exit times swing wildly. Fans who park in the Dome garages report 10 minutes to over an hour depending on how close the game was and where the space sits; one long-time Garage 6 parker says a ground-level row A–D spot puts him on the I-10 West ramp in 5 to 10 minutes, while a mid-level spot in a full house can take an hour. Their workaround: park across the Claiborne overpass or in the Warehouse District, on Julia Street or by the LSU Health Sciences Center on Poydras, and walk 5 to 10 minutes. Those regulars report clearing onto I-10 West in 10 to 15 minutes even after staying through the whistle, because Poydras becomes a pedestrian river and the garage queue can't move until it thins.
Accessible parking is in the ADA East and West lots on Sugar Bowl Drive, pre-purchased passes only, plus Level 1 of Garage 1A. RVs, buses and limos go in Lot 3, first come, first served, because every garage clears 6 feet 6 inches and lifted trucks won't fit. Free protected bike parking sits in the corner of Lot 3 across from the Girod entrance. Budget time for security: in 2026 every vehicle in the A, B or C lanes of Garages 1, 2, 5 and 6 plus both ADA lots is screened at every home game, while D, E and F passes use a second entrance that bypasses the search.
Only eight regular-season home games are actually played in the Dome: Raiders Sep 27, Falcons Oct 5 (Monday night), Vikings Oct 11, Browns Nov 8, Panthers Nov 15, Packers Dec 6, Cardinals Dec 27, plus a Week 18 Buccaneers date still TBD. The ninth, Steelers on Oct 25, is the NFL's first regular-season game in Paris. Around it: Ye Aug 28, Bruno Mars Sep 16, Hayley Williams Oct 10 in Champions Square rather than the Dome, Usher and Chris Brown Nov 20–21, Battle of the Bands Nov 27, the 53rd Bayou Classic Nov 28 at 1:00 pm, New Orleans Bowl Dec 23. Resale sites list a second Ye night on Aug 29 that appears on neither the venue calendar nor the official parking vendor; treat it as unconfirmed.
Two claims that still circulate and are wrong. Tulane hasn't played home games here since 2013; the Green Wave moved to Yulman Stadium Uptown in 2014 after 39 seasons in the Dome. And the Sugar Bowl is not on New Year's Day this cycle: it's Friday, Jan 15, 2027 at 6:30 pm CT as a CFP semifinal, the latest date in its 93-year history. The CFP National Championship returns Jan 24, 2028, and no Final Four is scheduled here through 2031.
