Short answer. DTX has one parking lot, directly in front of the terminal. The airport's rates are free for the first 30 minutes, $5 up to 1 hour, $10 up to 2 hours and $15 for 2 to 24 hours (airport Parking and Directions page).
You cannot reserve a space. The airport says parking is first come, first served and that "Advance reservations aren't needed or available." Cameras read your license plate, so there is no ticket: you register the plate and a payment method by scanning a QR code, then drive out and the payment processes automatically.
Commercial service begins November 11, 2026, so nobody has parked here for a real trip yet. Treat this page as the airport's published plan, and check the airport page before you go.
Rates at the McKinney lot
These are the rates on the airport's Parking and Directions page, read November 8, 2026.
| Time parked | Rate |
|---|---|
| 0 to 30 minutes | Free |
| 30 minutes to 1 hour | $5.00 |
| 1 hour to 2 hours | $10.00 |
| 2 hours to 24 hours | $15.00 |
What about a trip of several days? The airport's table stops at 24 hours and does not say what happens after that. McKinney Airport Director Ken Carley told Community Impact that the airport "will charge $15 a day for parking." If each 24-hour period costs $15, a car parked for 72 hours would cost $45, and one parked for 4 days would cost $60. That is our arithmetic on a quote, not a tariff the airport has published, so call (972) 477-0910 before you budget a long trip.
Disabled veterans: the airport says vehicles with a qualifying Disabled Veteran or eligible Meritorious Military Honor license plate park free when driven by or for the veteran the vehicle is registered to, with eligibility set under Texas law.
How pay-by-plate works
The airport lists six steps on its parking page:
- Park your vehicle.
- Take a photo of your license plate or write the number down.
- Scan the QR code on the parking lot or terminal signs.
- Register your license plate.
- Set up your payment method. You can create an account for next time.
- Drive through the exit. The airport says payment processes automatically.
The airport also offers SwiftPass by Inflow for frequent flyers. You register your plates and cards once, and it says the gate then opens for your plate on every visit at the normal rates. Local Profile, summarizing the airport's travel tips, reports that intercoms at the entry and exit kiosks reach live customer service around the clock. We could not find that line on the airport's own parking page, so confirm it on site.
The lot: size, distance and EV charging
- Size: the airport's fact sheet lists a "980-space public parking lot." Community Impact reports the lot can expand to 1,450 spaces later.
- Distance: the airport describes "a single, accessible parking lot located directly in front of the terminal" and says there are no shuttles and no long walks. It does not publish a walking distance in feet or minutes.
- EV charging: Local Profile reports that electric-vehicle charging stations are available. The airport's parking page does not mention them, so the number of chargers, the plug types and the price are not published.
Who flies from DTX
The airport's Airlines and Destinations page lists one airline, Avelo Airlines. The airport's fact sheet says Avelo's nonstop flights launch on November 11, 2026, with flights to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Las Vegas, Orlando and Tampa in November, and Atlanta, Denver, Nashville, New Orleans, Sarasota/Bradenton and West Palm Beach in December. Community Impact reports that the first flight, on November 11, goes to Fort Myers, Florida.
We have no passenger counts or demand figures for this airport, and we are not guessing at them. Because the schedule is brand new, expect the lot to be quiet or busy in ways nobody can yet predict.
The airport's advisory reads: "Please plan to arrive at DTX 90 minutes before flight departure time."
Driving from Dallas, Plano and Frisco
The airport's address is 1910 FM 546, McKinney, TX 75069. Its fact sheet says DTX is "about 30 miles north of downtown Dallas." The airport does not publish drive times or distances from Plano or Frisco, so we do not give any. Its directions page gives these routes:
- Heading north on US 75 (from Dallas, Plano or Allen): take Exit 38C toward SH 5. In about 2.3 miles turn right (east) onto Harry McKillop Blvd, then drive about 2.9 miles to the airport entrance.
- From the southwest on SH 121 / Sam Rayburn Tollway: continue east of US 75. About 2.3 miles past US 75, turn right (east) onto Harry McKillop Blvd, then drive about 2.9 miles to the entrance.
- Heading south on US 75 (from the north): take Exit 41 toward US 380 (University Pkwy), turn left (east), then right onto Airport Dr. after about 2.3 miles, then right onto Harry McKillop Blvd after about 2.7 miles and drive about 1.5 miles.
Check live traffic before you leave. The airport suggests entering the street address in your navigation app.
How the price compares with DFW remote lots
DFW Airport's remote parking page lists daily rates "Effective October 1, 2026." For 6 to 24 hours it shows $14.00 with a TollTag and $16.00 by credit card at exit. Shorter stays are cheaper at DFW: $3 up to 2 hours, $4 for 2 to 4 hours and $6 for 4 to 6 hours.
| Stay | McKinney lot (DTX) | DFW remote lots |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 2 hours | Free to 30 minutes, $5 to 1 hour, $10 to 2 hours | $3 (TollTag or card) |
| A full day (up to 24 hours) | $15 | $14 TollTag, $16 card at exit (6 to 24 hours) |
So for a full day the two are within a dollar or two of each other. DTX is not clearly cheaper than DFW remote. DTX's draw is the short walk and no shuttle, which is the airport's own claim. See our verified airport parking rate index (snapshot parking-index-2026-11-05) for DFW and other airports, and our DFW parking page if you are choosing between the two.
Questions travelers ask
Can I reserve parking at DTX?
No. The airport says advance reservations are not needed or available, and spaces are first come, first served.
How do I pay?
Scan the QR code on the lot or terminal signs, register your plate and a payment method, and drive out. The airport says payment processes automatically.
Is there a long-term or economy lot?
The airport describes a single lot. It does not list a separate economy or long-term lot.
How much is a week?
The airport has not published a rate past 24 hours. If the $15 a day quote from the airport director holds for each day, seven days would be $105, but confirm with the airport first.
