Lucas Oil Stadium Parking Guide

Updated for current event-night routing and booking paths.

Lucas Oil Stadium is the rare NFL venue where the stadium isn't the parking authority – the neighborhood is. It sits at 500 S. Capitol Ave. in a downtown grid of 70,000-plus spaces, physically attached to the Indiana Convention Center by a pedestrian connector on the Event Level. Your decision isn't which stadium lot. It's how far you'll walk, and which streets you can still drive in 2026.

Who actually controls the lots on a Colts Sunday?

Denison Parking. The stadium guide says Denison "owns and operates nearly 2,000 spaces in multiple parking lots surrounding the stadium" (317.916.1760), and the Colts send single-game buyers to ParkWhiz, warning they "cannot offer on-site support on gamedays." The color-coded lots on passes are season inventory: Blue South Lot (601 S. Capitol), Purple IFA (650 S. West St.), Orange Horseshoe (345 W. McCarty), Silver Rolls-Royce Garage (25 W. Henry), Yellow Government Center Garage (42 S. Missouri), Maroon Lot A (303 S. Missouri), Teal Plaza Garage (109 S. Capitol) and Pink LaRosa South (401 S. Pennsylvania).

Three claims other guides repeat that are wrong

There is no "West Lot." Several guides sell a premium "West Lot off West Street." It isn't on the Colts' own gameday lot list – the west-side option is the Purple IFA Lot at 650 S. West St., which resale listings label simply "IFA."

Pan Am Plaza Garage is gone. The closest garage to the Convention Center was demolished, sub-grade levels included, for the 803-room Signia by Hilton and the Convention Center expansion due Q4 2026. And IndyGo isn't $1.75. The base fare changed Jan. 1, 2026: one trip is $2.75, with a $6.00 daily cap.

What Colts game parking really costs in 2026

The official South Lot is the cheap close-in option, not the expensive one: $20–$40 on event days against a $10 non-event rate, entered at Gate 6 across Capitol Ave. from Merrill Street, with no parking after midnight. Private lots charge more for less proximity.

The Sunday meter move, and why it works here

Meters run Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., at $2.00 an hour, and every meter is programmed to refuse payment on Sundays and on the city's free-parking holidays. All six 2026 Colts home games with a confirmed kickoff are Sunday at 1 p.m.; the Bengals and Jaguars dates are still TBD. Curbside is genuinely free here, not theoretical, which is why blocks north and east of the stadium fill by late morning. Read the signs: spots on the 100 block of W. Merrill St. and the 600–800 blocks of Russell Ave. are placard-only.

Tailgating rules come from the lot, not the team

Lucas Oil has no single tailgate policy. The Colts say only that "tailgating is allowed in parking lots surrounding the stadium" and that fans shouldn't hold spots. The enforceable rules belong to each operator: at 402 Kentucky Ave. and 850 S. Meridian St. the published rules match – gas and propane allowed, charcoal grills and firepits banned, five tailgaters per vehicle, tents capped at 10 by 10 feet.

Timing splits too. The Colts' A-Z guide says "parking areas open five hours before kickoff"; the private lots publish four hours before and a close three hours after. Gates open two hours before kickoff and there is no re-entry. RVs, buses and oversize vehicles go through Denison at (317) 916-1760 only.

Construction rewrote the drive in, and the I-70 ramps close on the way out

Don't route from memory. Gameday closures: Capitol between Maryland and South, Capitol between Ohio and Washington, Illinois between South and Georgia, Georgia between Capitol and Illinois, and the northwest quad of Monument Circle. Separately, Capitol Avenue is shut to through traffic from Ohio to South into September 2026, and Georgia Street – the walking spine from the Convention Center to the stadium – is closed to cars and pedestrians between Capitol and Illinois for a rebuild finishing Fall 2026.

Getting out decides your evening. When big events let out, IMPD closes I-70 access at the West Street, Illinois Street and Meridian Street exits, the same pattern used after Colts games; in the published 2024 plan, southbound West Street was forced onto I-70 westbound only and diverted to Kentucky Avenue at South Street. Pick your lot by your exit, not your walk.

Rideshare, drop-off and the geofence

Rideshare is one corridor: northbound Illinois Street, a block east of the stadium, for pickup and drop-off. The detail that kills seat-side bookings is that "guests will be unable to request a ride until they are outside of the geofenced perimeter." Private drop-off is separate, using the southwest corner off northbound Missouri Street and the northeast corner off southbound Capitol by the Colts Pro Shop, both restricted for roughly an hour before and after. ADA parking may be available in the South Lot off northbound Missouri, first-come, and needs a Colts parking pass on top of a placard for NFL games.

When the Convention Center is busy, your parking gets worse

The stadium and the Convention Center share lots, so a big show next door takes your inventory before you arrive. The clearest 2026 collision is late September: the Do it Best Corp. Fall Market runs Sept. 25–28 while the stadium hosts the 42nd Circle City Classic Sept. 26 and Colts–Texans Sept. 27. Mid-November stacks too, with Percussive Arts Society Nov. 11–14 against Bands of America Grand Nationals Nov. 12–14 and Colts–Dolphins the next day. Worth correcting: Gen Con is the convention people warn you about, but in 2026 it ran July 30–Aug. 2, before the season, so it never touched a game.

Also on the stadium's calendar: Bruno Mars Sept. 9, Ed Sheeran Oct. 10, BOA Super Regionals Oct. 16–17, Usher and Chris Brown Oct. 31, ISSMA finals Nov. 7. National FFA returns Oct. 30–Nov. 2, and the Discover Big Ten Championship is Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. ET. Colts home dates: Ravens Sept. 13, Texans Sept. 27, Titans Oct. 18, Cowboys Nov. 8, Dolphins Nov. 15, Giants Nov. 29, plus Bengals and Jaguars still TBD.
