This is the friendliest little airport I’ve ever experienced- and I travel A LOT. From rental car return, the AA Ticket agents to the security checkpoint personnel (gasp!), the lunch counter spot… heck- even the airport announcements are a friendly tone. Theres just something about being treated with respect and friendliness (and as a human being instead of a nuisance)!! There’s not a lot to this little airport, but what they have a multitude of is hospitality! Go Amarillo!

Tiny airport. Not many choices of airlines to choose from. No rental cars available but that is what is going on these days. Up side is not many lines in security. If you have a chance order a breakfast sandwich from the kitchen next to the departure gates. They make them fresh to order. They are outstanding!!

Staff pretty friendly & helpful & appears to be pretty clean. Not really happy with Southwest at the moment but everyone with Southwest I've dealt with here in the Amarillo airport has been exceptional! Going beyond to make my experience better/easier.

This airport isn't hard to navigate. I love that it isn't a high volume airport. Arriving and departing was very easy. There are access to ride shares on the lower level. There were food and drink options at the gates.

There's a lovely, big statue commemorating the airport's namesake, astronaut Rick Husband. Access it by entering the terminal via the main entrance. Keep walking past the ticketing area toward the security checkpoint and you will see it. In April 2024 it cost only $2 to park for 30 minutes in the parking garage. P.S. I wish the airport terminals I travel through were as quiet as this one!! :)

Great airport. Small and easy to deal with. Great service at the bar. Patty melt and french fries are the most amazing I've ever had in my life.

Easy gate. TSA is intense and can take 30 min even if you're "pre" and there are 10 people in line.
WHY ARE THERE NO RECYCLE TRASH BINS in the whole airport? Every other US airport has them.

Gotta love small airports, especially when they're practically empty. Also love that there are a couple of food spots before security.
Also, the outdoor parking lot is free for the first 30 minutes, but garage is $2 for first 30.

Rick husband Amarillo international airport is a small airport. But, it is a very nice, clean, well maintained, upkept, and comfortable airport. I was able to use the free speedy WiFi, and enjoy the comfortable environment there. I also see them serving food here. I won't say it is super fancy here. But, it got all I need as a traveller.

As far as small airports go, this one has to be my favorite. The security came over to find us at the eating area to let us know our flight was boarding. The employees at said area were incredibly friendly. The gate agent for Southwest even helped us look to change to an earlier flight and called us over the intercom to give us updates on the number of seats available on said earlier flight. Never have I had a more pleasant airport experience, and I fly often.

Enjoyed this airport. It was just the perfect size. I was able to get checked in, and to the gates with great ease.
They could have had maybe more options to eat and get snacks, however what they did have was wel stocked.
Particularly enjoyed a few mins of break before boarding to get an adult drink.

06/15/22 - First time going to Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport, and I was pleasantly surprised. The overall layout was easy to navigate, the facility was clean, and the personnel were friendly and helpful. The presence of free WiFi was a plus (just be sure to use a VPN!), and the lounge seats were comfortable. The only downsides were the seats in the waiting area are not comfortable for any longterm delays (no backs!), and the restaurants close early leaving only a couple of VERY OVERPRICED vending machines as options. (If you will be here after 4 pm, bring your own food & drink...) And, be aware, open parking lot costs top out at $8 per day; garage tops at $11.
VERDICT: WELL RECOMMENDED, BUT WITH A COUPLE CAVEATS.

Nice small regional airport. Shop and cafe outside of security close early. No one mans counters until checking in for a flight. So it is difficult to speak with anyone if you have an issue. If there is a flight cancellation you are pretty much screwed due to lack of airlines and flight options.

This airport may not be a huge as others but it is definitely the cleanest, brightest and modern that I have been to. Great customer service and cozy!

Says International Airport but its mostly for regional flights. Airport is very easy to get to and navigate through. Getting through security was fast and efficient. Check in agents were professional and kind. Airport has minimal options for food but they are efficient and provide a variety of options.

Fairly small airport with a feeding staff. There is just one souvenir shop before security and a restaurant after clearing security. Usually not too busy and it just takes a couple minutes to clear security.

The airport is small and the wait for security has never been long for me. I would say waiting at the airline counters may be your longest period of waiting here. When I arrived in Amarillo, I was made aware of the fact that my bag was mistagged at my home airport. It took a while, to no fault from AMA staff, for the bag to be returned to me. The American Airlines team there in baggage claim were super helpful. Specifically one employee, who I sadly didn't get the spelling of her name down. It started with an M and was not something I heard before. The closest I have been able to remember was Mara, Maira, Maire but none of those feel correct. She was a superstar and did everything she could to return my bag to me. I am so grateful for the work she put into figuring this situation out.
