Very clean and organized airport. It is small with limited options for food but the Ruby Tuesday's prices were reasonable. The salad bar was a nice surprise.

Literally the first time I’ve ever had a pleasant, stress free airport experience.
Allegiant crew is amazing. They are very good at what they do and go above and beyond to help.
I had a couple questions about bags and she answered them before I even began to ask.
It’s a small airport with less destinations but that’s how I like it.

Small regional airport. Easy to access. Immaculately maintained. Seems to have the state of the art security equipment. All the personnel I interacted with were friendly. Love the Smoky Mountain artist display just outside security. Also love the art work on display.

I travel quite a bit out of this airport. Very seldom have I ever had any issues. TSA check point is always quick, much quicker now since you don't have to pull out laptops or tablets. Easy to navigate. One of my favorite airports to fly out of.

Small but Easy To Fly Into. This is a modern airport located near downtown Knoxville. The operation is small but very good. Security, concessions and the gates are very well operated. I would fly through Knoxville again. You really don't need to show up too early because parking is close and there is a limited number of gates. Visited 5/2023.

McGhee/Tyson airport is aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate. One enters the airport to an ascending, glassed walkway with the sound of falling water over mountain rocks. It reflects the beautiful Smokey Mountains in the background. There is comfortable seating facing the fountain while waiting on passengers to arrive and depart. Security was friendly yet serious. While waiting at the gates rocking chairs are available to view the mountains. An added bonus is an art gallery featuring local artist.
The rental car lot is directly in the bottom floor of the garage. Easy covered pickup and drop off with efficient and friendly service. I will definitely choose this route again in the future!

It looked small to me but very organized and clean. The baggage claim area is across the counter for the car rentalz, very convenient.

Very nice airport. Not so huge you can get lost in. Easy to get checked in, and to the gates. Enough food venues, shops and seats in the waiting areas. Rental car agencies are conveniently located across the street in the parking garage.

What a nice little airport, I love it.
Not that busy, and not that packed during operations. Went through TSA in about 2 minutes. I think the only thing this airport lacks are two things, one is food options and the second are flights.
Food is scarce. You either have Ruby Tuesday's, Cinnabon or Starbucks. Sadly no Wendy's, Chick Fil A, etc.
Flights are also scarce. You only get 1 or 2 weekly flights to Fort Lauderdale or West Palm Beach and that about it. Everything else needs a connection flight and those are forced through Delta from Knox, to Atlanta then to PBI and that price gouge is about $300 - 400 a ticket. Sometimes in the $500 - 1,000 range. Why not partner with Spirit to offer another flight option?
If you love aircraft, the Cirrus Vision Jet operates out of here, so they do a lot of training and test flights out of here.
Airport needs some more love in both the food and flight department.

I spent more time in this airport than I expected, and can say it is not a bad airport to be stuck in.
The staff was kind and helpful. Getting through security was fast and easy.
Perhaps my favorite thing was the large screen showing a looped video about things to do and places to stay in Tennessee. Such a beautiful state that I would love to explore more.
They also had fun decorations up, I am sure the Christmas tree is not there all the time, but I hope the bear statues and pretend stream are!

Small airport and easy to get around. One of our girls flew American Airlines and we flew United. I recommend flying United because the line for American Airlines was extremely long. UNITED had multiple lines so we were in and out. We arrived at 6am and at 730am our friend was still in line. They said it was because they only had 2 employees doing baggage check in.

McGhee Tyson Airport in Alcoa, Tennessee, offers a smooth and hassle-free travel experience. It’s a smaller airport, which means shorter lines, quicker security checks, and easy navigation through the terminals. The airport is clean, well-maintained, and has a friendly atmosphere. There are a few dining and shopping options that cater to basic needs, and the seating areas are comfortable with plenty of charging stations. I also appreciated the efficient baggage claim and easy access to rental cars and transportation. Overall, McGhee Tyson Airport provides a convenient and pleasant travel experience, making it a great gateway to the Smoky Mountains and surrounding areas.

The staff at the airport was nice and friendly. The airport it self is tired and looks old. It really needs an update. Parking garage to pick up your rental car is pretty close to the terminal which is nice.

Flew in and out of TYS on business travel. Thankful to have this airport within driving distance of our client. It’s a small airport with one long “gate” that spans to the left and to the right after you clear security. Other travelers mentioned that the TSA area once your bags are clear, is very short. The conveyor isn’t very long and causes a backup on people waiting for their bags. Recommend that TSA expands this area so that more than two people can grab their items at a time. The 5 stars is for convenience, friendly staff, seamless process to get in and out of the airport. Can’t imagine having to go to an airport that is a couple hours away from Knoxville.

This airport is fully resumed and offering full service to regional commuters. It was a scary day in March of 2020 as I returned to Syracuse, New York in an empty flight with only three of us as passengers at the peak of the pandemic onset! It's a new say now, and you've got quite some new personalities at this location. You'll go through that security check in a streamlined fashion - and may even be greeted by a Senior Homeland Security staff in an effort to get you "feel at home". It really felt like home here!

Clean, clean, clean. Good security experience. Quick queues. I was trying to print out my boarding passes and a customer service employee at Delta told me she would help me. On time takeoff. Fast luggage delivery. Easy pickup for arrivals.

Nice small airport, no issues with getting in and getting out. Places to eat, sad that Cinnabon was closed when we were there. The escalator going down wasn’t working, had to use the stairs when we first arrived. Vending machine for drinks near terminal 10. Tennessee market for souvenirs, snack and drinks. Self checkout available. You have to go down the escalator/elevator for the rental car counters

The employees at the airport are amazing- especially the ones pushing wheelchairs! Very helpful. All of the employees should get 5 stars. But the airport overall is 4 stars because it's a small airport and airlines charge premium/very high rates. (I wish Southwest flew into this airport.)

Love this airport! Rachelle at the American airline desk was so friendly and helpful that it was a wonderful reminder of the friendliness of being home. She was amazing and I wish more were like her at the other airports! This is the first of 3 flights for the day and really wish she could go with me lol. Friendly people all over the airport so far and as always it's super clean. Thank you McGhee Tyson for being wonderful... please set up a class and teach others.

Nice airport. Clean, relaxing, and comfortable. Getting through TSA was quicker than expected given there are just a few stations. Several places to eat as well as a few Hudson Marketplaces for snacks, drinks, books, or other items.
Renting a vehicle was easy and quicker than expected. Getting in and out of the airport was easy.
