I hate to leave a negative review, but in this case I have to. I needed a room for one night for a wedding. It was a UT game weekend so lots of hotels were booked. I found this one close to the venue. It looked decent from the pictures, but I was wrong! Upon arrival at about 2:30pm I had to wait 30 plus minutes to be served. The front desk lady was by herself, had to answer phone calls while checking guests in. The hotel smelled immediately of smoke from people standing right outside the front door smoking. Once I finally got a room key I was depressed walking down the hall on the dirty carpet. Then, I was sent to a dirty room. Went back down where the line to check in was now very long. Other guests had been sent to dirty rooms also. Then they tell me the room will be ready shortly. I do not want to stay in a room that was cleaned in 5 minutes! Not enough time to truly clean it! Not to mention the room smelled musty and was hot!! I went literally next door to Holiday Inn Express and thankfully they had a room that was nice, clean, and cool!! I have no idea what kind of operation they are running at this Mainstays but it is dirty, stinky, and severely understaffed. I will NEVER, and I repeat never stay at one of these properties again. Save yourself the stress and book elsewhere!!

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. the room furnishings were great: comfortable couch, wall mounted adjustable tv, kitchen with small stove top, microwave, some cookware and plates, cutlery, large table top, full sized refrigerator, and a clean, roomy bathroom.

HOWEVER, the building seemed in disrepair, hallways smelled terrible, the floor in the room was damp, and in places completely wet; My clothing stored in the closet became damp as well. the bed frame seemed broken - when sitting on the left corner of the bed the frame tilted with the mattress and myself causing me on fall, and discover in the process, how super wet part of the floor had been. the bed comforter also had a burn hole in it.

Recently stayed for 5 nights. I got a very low price from a travel website and now I understand why. The exterior appearance is simply a facade and any niceties end there. The interior halls and lobby smell of old, musty, cigarette-saturated carpet from what appears to be roughly 1980. The cabinets in the kitchenette and bathroom were missing doors. There was a single plastic colander and some utensils. No real cookware. Microwave and refrigerator were old but functional. The bathroom otherwise clean and functional. The carpet in the room was disgusting. I didn't even want to take my shoes off. The television was an old 32" flat screen but otherwise functional on a less than ideal hinged wall mount with cables pouring out of an unfinished hole in the wall. The bed was reasonably new, the sheets clean, and I didn't see any bugs so that's a plus. It has electricity, running water, and a hot shower. The "breakfast" was a joke.

I should've known better. You don't get a true kitchenette suite at roach motel prices. C'est la vie.

Had to wrestle with room door to get it close completely. The cleanliness of public areas is shameful and makes one wonder if rooms are getting cleaned properly. The staff are not professional in manner or appearance. Front desk left unattended for long periods of time. My room key stopped working and it took nearly an hour to find someone to assist me. And the entire place smells of smoke.

Tracy, Christina, Joy, Tristan, and Dorian are by far the best front desk staff we have ever encountered at any hotel. Wonderful accommodations and within walking distance to restaurants. Not crazy about the area of Alcoa due to construction and bored cops looking for something to do in a dry county but the hotel itself is a great solution to an overwhelming problem here in East Tennessee, which is mass evictions and displacement due to landlords selling property without tenants knowledge, and thankful to mainstay and its staff plus Dorian makes an amazing breakfast. Thank you all for everything. Will definitely stay again when in the area.

Terrible! The floor had not been cleaned. (Six inch long item on the floor!) Liquid on the bedside table. Phone tossed behind the TV. Neither TV worked. We were told the staff may have been playing games on them! Lady at front desk was very nice. Went to a different hotel!

It took three rooms to find one half way clean. There was trash and food in the floor in the dining area. The carpets are stained. It smells. The have car air freshener hanging from the evelvator. There were bugs crawling on the mattress in one of the rooms they tried to give us. This place needs a total renovation. See the pictures below. I will not stay here ever again.

Very affordable , a wonderful solution for when you are in need quickly, and has a home like feel. The front desk manager is awesome, she keeps the convenience store stocked and is always smiling and very pleasant. So glad we have a mainstay here near the airport. Thank you mainstay staff for always being on point.

During a very difficult time my Wife , Our chicken and I stayed at the Mainstays. Not only was ALL of the staff very receiving and attentive to our needs but , Made us feel cared for. The manager Kristina went above and beyond for us finding services in the area that were needed . The housekeeping staff never rushed and took very detailed care of our rooms. .Thank you Mainstays staff and management for making our transition to Tennessee a peaceful one .

The rooms are not too bad if you dont mind leaky sinks, roaches, and mildew. Also don't be surprised if you walk in and nobody is at the front desk. But no worries because the girls working will be outside smoking so just wait a few more minutes and they will be right with you once the daily gossip is finished. Its common as well to walk in and one of them will be nodding off behind the counter. If you are working out of town and expect to stay there for your entire job. dont. They will let you stay for a week, then refund your money a weeks later. then just begin to randomly charge your card at odd intervals. Then when they get overbooked they will just charge your card a few days and tell you that you have to leave. Yeah... great place and good service. This could be a decent place just needs new management. Where are the owners?

Absolutely disgusting! The room was dirty with stains on the carpet & the couch, there was sticky gunk on the tables, some kind of liquid that had dried on the painting in the room. The A/C barely worked (would not cool the room), there was no stove as “it was being replaced”, the vent in the bathroom was covered with 2in of dust & the manager would not accommodate a room change as they were “booked”. 10/10 will NEVER stay here again.

Our group of golfers (12-16 people) have stayed here for the past 16 years on our annual trip. This place has changed dramatically. The facility is dirty, unkempt, and lacking in basic supplies. Our room had stained and filthy carpeting, the dresser was missing, and the cooktop had collapsed into the kitchenette cabinet still hooked to live wires. Checkout was a chaotic nightmare as my roommate and I shared the room cost on our own individual credit cards. My $278 share now shows pending charges of nearly $1300! Lord knows how long it will take to remedy this. Good luck!

We went over to the hotel to look at a couple of rooms before booking an extended stay. Honestly, I'm glad we did that. The girl at the front desk kept us waiting for several minutes while she counted change, she was pretty negative overall, stating that they had a lot of reservations before even asking us when the reservation was for or even looking at availability. Three reception and breakfast area were less than welcoming. We asked to see 2 rooms, the corridors were somewhat smelly and the rooms weren't great. We'd stayed here before (admittedly 10 years ago) for several weeks and it was lovely then. Needless to say, we didn't follow through with a reservation and booked somewhere else.

Our room had many dead roaches laying throughout the room. Several in the upper and lower kitchen cabinets, one on the floor and one that someone smashed on the wall above the couch.

I also found a few smaller bugs that I couldn't identify. Three were dead, found on the bed, and one was still moving on the nightstand.

Management told us that they had bombed the room recently when they brought us new sheets, but we decided to check out and go elsewhere.

The lady at the front desk was very nice, apologetic and asked the assistant manager to come talk to us, but she refused and sat in her office.

Very pleasant staff. Construction workers everywhere due to local construction.. they've soiled the carpeting everywhere in lobby lobby, elevator, and room.. clean room though..

Tracy at the front desk went way beyond to help me find a more suitable room not so far away due to my health issues. She was by far the best asset of this hotel. Special mention to Charlene and Nakia.

There were not suitable dishes for those expecting to use the kitchen. The breakfast is only a muffin and breakfast bar, there is not fruit or milk, just coffee and juice.

Overall, as I stated before, the staff is the best part of this property.

This is the most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed in. There are stains all over the carpet, I didn't even want to take my shoes off, I had to work whole here and the chairs were all ripped up, there was a huge gap in the door to the hallway, the deadbolt was broken and to top it all off, there were ants all over the inside of the window. I would never recommend anyone to stay here...oh and this was all in a "suite"

Where do I start!

#1 Had this reservation booked for 2 yrs then covid hit. Trip was cancelled twice but not hotel reservations.

Time for trip... checked reservations all was good until April 2021 one month before trip I needed to add a night to my reservations. Asked the front desk lady to repeat the dates of check in and check out. May 6th- may 9th. Thought all was good checked my email and 1 week before trip and my reservations were wrong. So I called spoke with front desk lady who told me to call back in the AM to talk to Kristina Hearde(GM) so I did.

The only questions I had for GM was WHY? HOW? WHY NOT? All she could tell me was that there was nothing she could do. Due to the question I had she threaten to cancel my reservations and hung up on me which I immediately called back and said please don't and that I'll have to get a room for Saturday night somewhere else. And if by any chance the hotel had a cancelation that they call me and let me know.

The day before travels to Mainstay Suites:

The GM Kristina Heard calls my husband to ask if we wanted a smaller room for $10 less to accommodate our whole stay? My husband then calls me to ask me and we told her no that we were okay with the reservations we had. So after getting off the phone w/ my husband i called the hotel to make sure of the dates. After agreeing with the reservations I simple told Kristina the GM in an exciting and kind voice that I couldn't wait to meet her and ended the call.

The day of check:

My husband calls me to make ME aware that we have no reservations and that they had been canceled do to me threaten the GM. I'm thinking to myself when did I ever threaten this lady. And why was I in the wrong? I'm not the one who messed up our reservations. All I wanted was to be accommodate for the screw up thats all. It's a crying shame that you "Mainstay" had people staying there saying that the GM is Meth'd out, unruly, she talked over you like you were NOT A CUSTOMER and had no professionalism and that Mainstay should invest in a GM that has WAY BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. I will never stay here and I hope your experience is or was better then mine. #blackberrysmoke2021

At check-in, Kathie was quick to help. She was very helpful and had a positive attitude. That is where the pros end. Hotel was musty and smelled like wet dog. Floors did not appear to have been cleaned in quite some time. It took being placed in three different rooms before Ms. Kathie could get me in a suitable room. The room was Okay at best. Floors were not all that clean. Couch was stained. Electrical outlet by the fridge not working. Oh and to top it off, the freaking fire exit door at the stairwell would not open from the inside effectively trapping people in the stairwell if there were a fire. Outside grounds not cleaned properly

Expensive stay. It is understandable if the prices were high because of peak time and weekends. However, the service did not justify the money you spend. (100$/night)

Me and my 2 year old are staying here for a few days to avoid a toxic situation, and the staff has been so welcoming and sweet and genuine without even knowing my situation. My daughter loves the little koi pond out front and the staff noticed so they bought extra fish food so my daughter could feed the fish.its clean and I really do feel like it's a nice temporary home away from home. I wouldn't go anywhere else in the future.

I went there for a baby shower. I didn't know they had a room you could rent. Thats pretty cool. They were very nice at the desk when i asked about it. The front lobby was neat and tidy. Even had an area with tables and chairs for the breakfast bar. If all the others are like this one and in an area i might travel to and in my budget I just might stay at it. A lot sais about a place when you are greated nicely, its neat and tidy on the out side AND especially on the inside. Thank You....

I moved rooms because my refrigerator was broken and lost all my food I had just purchased. My new room was dirty and disgusting with no heat. Then I found bugs in the refrigerator and under the sink where the electrical and plumbing was falling apart. Terrible hotel they only clean once per week, if then. A couple of the ladies at the front desk are very nice a couple others would rather curse and smoke cigarettes than help guests. Needless to say I do not recommend this place.

Nice and clean facility with professional and courteous staff members. Room that we had the commode was very low to the floor making it hard to remove yourself once you finish your sitting business.

Are there any near future plans to correct the commodebissue?

Very dirty, run down, battered hotel. The rooms looked as if they had started remodeling them months earlier, then just stopped. Almost everything in the roo. Was broken. From doorknobs to blinds to chairs. There was garbage overflow g from the outside cans when we got there... 3 days later, it had still not been emptied. Outside our room window looked like an ashtray. The staff was very friendly, but come on... take pride in your job.

This hotel is NOT worth $100+ a night! First off, the parking situation is so bad trying to find any parking at all, they tell you to park next door either at the other hotel, or at the restaurant across the street. Second, you'll sign a paper which when I asked should have been the full amount that I was suppose to pay, but they don't tell you that they're going to add taxes on top of that which should have been on the paper for me to sign when I moved in. Third.. Not even 30 mins into staying in the room, things are falling off of the wall because they're cheap, and fixed with tape to hold on molding around the door. Also, there's nothing covering around the door latch, so you can see the hall light coming through into the room. Without anything covering it up, you can hear every guest in the hall way because nothing can muffle the sound. So, the next morning I called and told them I needed to check out. I went down to the front and asked if I needed to sign that I was out of the hotel room because you only drop your key off in a box.. Well low and behold, I was charged an extra night because someone didn't do their job, I was also charged an additional price on top of the hidden charges. The hallways are hot, they smell, and there is NO way that this place should even be more than $50 a night, TOPS! Do not stay here, not even worth mentioning it to others.

Room was discusting. There was food left in the sink and it had to have been there awhile because it was all dried up. When we walked down the hall to get to our room there was a box of beer in the way of opening my door to the room. The bathroom door didn’t close at all we couldn’t get it to move and since it was a sliding door that was a problem. There was some sort of liquid on the floor.... there was also something in the toilet. It was the most disgusting hotel room I have ever seen. The front desk lady did give me a new room and I was thankful for that but then she tried to give someone else that other room with out cleaning any of it up. Also she couldn’t be bothered to put her phone down long enough for anything. I asked if they had any forks, she told me to go into another room to get it witch would have been fine but it was an employee only room and it was locked. She acted like it was the end of the world to do anything. I am extremely upset over all of this. I hope you all find this helpful.
