Acrisure Stadium, Heinz Field until the 2022 renaming, sits at 100 Art Rooney Avenue on a North Shore strip barely three blocks deep, wedged between the Ohio River, PNC Park and Rivers Casino. No sea of asphalt: 68,400 people funnel into small numbered lots that sold out months ago, then leave over four bridges. Geography, not price, decides your Sunday.
Because there is nothing left to sell. The A-Z guest guide states plainly that "Parking on the North Shore is reserved and pre-sold." The 2026 Traffic and Parking guide narrows drive-up parking to two places: "Fans seeking pay parking on the North Shore (Blue 7 Lots or Blue 10 Garage) must pay via credit / debit card."
ALCO Parking, which runs the North Shore, adds "Cash is not accepted at any of Alco's locations." Its lots open "5 hours prior to kick off except for the Kamin Science Center Lots which will open approximately 4 hours before kick off." Third-party guides still print "lots open exactly 4 hours prior to kickoff" and point to "the Steelers app or Ticketmaster." Both wrong; the channel is JustPark.
Pre-sold passes sit in a $20–$60 band by lot and opponent. Season permits are separate: ALCO takes applications for the West General Robinson Street Garage and North Shore Garage.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit runs a light-rail Free Fare Zone covering six stations: First Avenue, Steel Plaza, Wood Street, Gateway, North Side and Allegheny. The last two are North Shore stops, so downtown to the stadium costs nothing. The stadium guide shouts it: "Park Downtown and Ride the Light Rail for FREE." An elevated walkway runs from the stadium to Allegheny Station.
Downtown rates from that guide: Oliver $5–$10; Third Avenue, Wood Street & Boulevard of the Allies and Grant Street Transportation Center $6–$10; Mellon Square and Smithfield & Liberty $8–$15; First Avenue $10–$15; Fort Duquesne & Sixth $20–$30. Park near First Avenue or Steel Plaza and you are under $15 all-in.
One correction: guides written in late 2025 warned PRT's 35% service cut and Silver Line elimination would land in February 2026. It never happened. The state let PRT shift about $107 million from capital to operating, and the board passed a 2026-27 budget with no fare hikes and no service cuts.
The Gateway Clipper still runs. Park at Station Square, board at 350 West Station Square Drive, get dropped at the stadium dock. The operator lists $7.50 one way, $15 round trip, kids 6 and under free. The stadium's 2026 guide prints $8 each way, puts Station Square parking at $20–$30, and has boats boarding two hours before kickoff every 5 to 30 minutes; returns start in the third quarter and run an hour past the game.
The trap: football tickets are "available ONLY at the Dock Ticket Office." No online sales. Park in Station Square's East Lot for the T, the Garage or West Lot for the boat.
From the Cultural District, the Roberto Clemente (Sixth Street), Andy Warhol (Seventh) and Rachel Carson (Ninth) bridges all land within a 10–15 minute walk of the gates. SpotHero clocks downtown garages at 21–27 minutes and 1.0–1.2 miles door to gate, so budget more. The Clemente reopened December 31, 2023 after a $35.6 million rehab; guides still calling it closed are years stale.
Now the myth. The Clemente closes to cars for Pirates games, and guides copy that onto Steelers pages. It doesn't hold: the 2026 driving directions route Steelers traffic straight over it, listing "Fort Duquesne Boulevard and Clemente Bridge" as the approach from I-279 Exit 1A and I-376 Exit 70B. Treat it as an open road you can also walk.
ALCO's line is short: "No tailgating is permitted in garages," and "Moderate and responsible tailgating will be accepted in surface lots." That rules out Blue 10, West General Robinson, Gold 1 and Champions Garage, and the pre-sold North Lincoln Lot carries a flat "TAILGATING IS NOT PERMITTED IN THIS PARKING LOT." The Kamin Science Center lots are strictest: "No Tents," "No Grilling," "No Beer Pong," and a "$1,000 Littering Fine."
On RVs, aggregators still advertise motorhome parking in Lot 6. ALCO's actual policy: "Limos, RVs, Box Trucks, Rental Vehicles, motorhomes and any other oversized vehicles are prohibited." Charter buses go through the Sports & Exhibition Authority.
The stadium guide opens its exit advice with "Avoid I-279 NB & SB Exit 1B," and tells you to pick your lot by your direction home, not your seat. For anyone bound for I-376 East, Route 51 South or Route 19 South, the official routing sends you the wrong way on purpose: east on General Robinson or East Ohio Street, north on Route 28 to the 31st Street Bridge, a U-turn to the left at the signal, then back south on Route 28 to I-579 and the Veterans Bridge. Heading north or west, take Route 65 (Ohio River Boulevard) to I-79 or the I-279 North HOV lane. Live conditions: 412-697-7599.
Rideshare and ADA drop-off share two corners: Art Rooney Avenue at Reedsdale Street, "the Northeast corner by Gate B," and "North Shore Drive at the Southwest Corner, directly across from the Kamin Science Center." Accessible parking can't be reserved: "We do not pre-sell accessible parking." Call ALCO at 412-323-4455. Gates open two hours before kickoff, and there is no re-entry.

Two resale listings to ignore. Vivid Seats sells "Acrisure Stadium Parking" for the Nov 21 Duke vs Washington State Acrisure Series game; that is men's basketball at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California. It also sells parking for Pitt women's soccer vs Dayton on Sep 6; that team plays at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
