Capital One Arena Parking Guide

Last verified: September 14, 2026. We checked the Capital One Arena, Monumental Sports & Entertainment, Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards, NHL schedule feed, WMATA, DDOT, SpotHero, ParkWhiz and Vivid Seats pages listed under Sources. The arena was Verizon Center until 2017; this page keeps its old web address. Prices are what those sources published that day and can change by event.

What the arena, the Capitals and the Wizards publish

Capital One Arena is at 601 F Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20004, and its plan-your-visit page lists (202) 628-3200. Monumental Sports & Entertainment lists it in its venue portfolio. The directions and parking page says prepaid parking is sold through SpotHero and that "parking passes are emailed instantly and can be printed at home."

• Arena-owned garage: the directions page takes inquiries through a contact form only. "A representative from the Parking Team will respond to you." No address, hours or rates are published.
• Vehicle search: the arena policies page says vehicles entering the garage are "subject to search prior to entry."
• Wizards: the team's parking page says "Entry to your selected location is 100% guaranteed" for prepaid spots, and names no garage.
• Capitals: the team's parking and Metro page says fans can "purchase guaranteed parking at lots and garages within easy walking distance," and names no garage.
• Not published on any official page: garage names and addresses, rates, accessible parking, oversized-vehicle rules, in-and-out policy and rideshare zones. The arena's /plan-your-visit/parking URL returns a 404.

2026-27 Capitals and Wizards home games

Capitals: the team schedule rendered only September, showing the preseason game against the Boston Bruins on Friday, September 25 at 7:00 p.m. EDT. The October dates come from the NHL club-schedule feed, which lists each game's venue as Capital One Arena and its start time in UTC. We converted those times to Eastern by subtracting four hours.

Wizards: the team schedule data for 2026-27 lists two preseason games and these first eight regular-season home dates, all at Capital One Arena and all at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Garages on ParkWhiz and SpotHero for the Bruins game

Both apps priced the Bruins game on Friday, September 25. ParkWhiz's cleanly rendered listings ran $10 to $50. SpotHero's header said "Event Parking $15 - $30" for a 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. window, though its listings started at $11.74. Distances and walk times are the apps' own.

Two names overlap. Both apps list a Gallery Place Garage, $10 at ParkWhiz's alley entrance and from $14.49 at SpotHero's 732 6th St NW entry, and both list a DC140 garage in Penn Quarter, at 0.2 miles and $25 on ParkWhiz and 0.3 miles from $14.99 on SpotHero. We could not confirm that each pair is the same facility. SpotHero's arena destination page, showing only concerts on September 14, ran $16 to $30 and included the garage listed as 610 9th St NW (901 F St NW) at $12.99, a five-minute walk. ParkWhiz's arena landing page is an event index without prices.

Metro to Gallery Place

WMATA's Gallery Place station page lists the Red, Green and Yellow lines. The arena's FAQ calls it the "Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro Stop on the Red, Yellow, and Green Metro Lines," and the Capitals note it is "only one stop from Metro Center on the Red Line." The arena's directions page adds Judiciary Square, Metro Center and Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter as stations "within walking distance."

• Fares: WMATA's fare page lists $2.25 to $6.75 at peak (weekdays 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.), $2.25 to $2.50 off-peak (weekdays after 9:30 p.m. and weekends) and $1.10 to $3.35 reduced. Its new-rider guide puts it simply: "At night and on weekends, all trips are $2.50 or less." No effective date is published on the fare page.
• System hours: Monday to Thursday 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., Friday 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m., Saturday 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m., Sunday 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., per the new-rider guide.
• Last trains from Gallery Place, Monday to Thursday: Red Line to Glenmont 12:12 a.m., Green Line to Branch Ave 11:56 p.m., Yellow Line to Greenbelt 11:59 p.m. The station opens 10 minutes before the first train. We captured only the Monday to Thursday times.
• Conflict: the arena's directions page lists Metro hours of Monday to Thursday 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Friday 5 a.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Those are older than WMATA's current hours above. Go by WMATA.
• Event-night extensions: not published on the WMATA pages we checked.

The renovation and arrival in 2026

The arena's transformation FAQ says construction began in December 2024 and "will occur in six phases over three years," finishing "in time for the 2027-28 NBA and NHL seasons." The building stays open during the NBA and NHL seasons, with major work in the summer months when it is temporarily closed. The 2026 phase is exterior: "Major exterior updates will begin, including the new façade."

For arrival, the FAQ makes two statements. "We do not anticipate road closures to stop the full flow of traffic," and "Travel restrictions may occur in the curb lanes while the facade is under construction." It also describes a new 6th Street entrance with "direct street access for accessible drop-offs and pick-ups." We found no dated 2026 parking or closure notice on the arena homepage, the directions page or Monumental's site.

DDOT's event page says it "will present the Traffic Operations and Parking Plan for the Capital One Arena" and gives no restriction details. The final plan PDF returned a 404, and the TOPP site rendered only a heading, so event-day street restrictions are unverified.

Rideshare drop-off and pickup

No rideshare zones are published. None of the arena's directions, FAQ, policies or accessibility pages names a pickup or drop-off point. The only related statement is the transformation FAQ's planned 6th Street entrance for accessible drop-offs and pick-ups, and the same FAQ warns that curb lanes may be restricted during the façade work.

Accessible parking and the 6th Street entrance

Accessible parking is not published. The arena's directions page, accessibility page and FAQ say nothing about ADA spaces, placards or rates, and neither do the Capitals or Wizards pages. The transformation FAQ says the renovation adds "a new entrance on 6th Street with direct street access for accessible drop-offs and pick-ups." The arena's plan-your-visit page lists (202) 628-3200.

What this guide doesn't recommend

• Counting on the arena's own garage. No address, hours, rates or public-access rules are published, and inquiries go through a contact form.
• Using the Metro hours on the arena's directions page. They are older than WMATA's current hours.
• Reading SpotHero's "$15 - $30" header as the floor. Its own listings for the same game started at $11.74.
• Assuming street parking is fine on event nights. DDOT has a parking plan for the arena, but the PDF is dead and we could not verify the rules.
• Treating Vivid's 7:01 p.m. as the start time. The official start is 7:00 p.m. for both preseason games.
