Honolulu Zoo Parking Rates & Top Tips

The Honolulu Zoo is situated in Queen Kapiolani Park in Hawaii’s capital city. It’s the only U.S. zoo built on royal land, and Kapiolani Park is the largest public park in the state. The zoo features more than 1,200 animals, a snack bar, an event room, a gift shop, and short-term parking for visitors. Where To Find Parking at the Honolulu Zoo

The Honolulu Zoo parking lot is accessible from Kapahulu Avenue and offers convenient daily parking to zoo visitors. Operated by ProPark, the nearby zoo lot has several pay stations where you can pay for parking using cash or credit cards. 

The hourly parking fee is $1.50, and there’s a four-hour limit. Check the signs for additional details, or call ProPark at 808-971-7755 to learn about the Honolulu Zoo parking extension.

ADA Parking Availability

A limited number of accessible parking stalls are placed near the zoo parking lot entrance. These are obtainable on a first-come, first-served basis by those who own a disabled parking permit. The standard Honolulu Zoo parking fee applies.

On-Street Parking Around the Zoo

Metered parking is available on many streets around Kapiolani Park. Meters on Kapahulu Avenue are in effect from 6 AM to 10 PM daily, and there’s a two-hour limit. Monsarrat Avenue offers free parking, while beautiful Paki Avenue has no on-street spots. Wherever you park, check the closest sign and meter for additional info.

Get Free Parking at the Nearby Waikiki Shell

The Waikiki Shell parking lot is a go-to choice for those who search for a parking spot that is safe and free of charge. It’s also the best option for visitors who need Honolulu Zoo overnight parking since the lot imposes no time limit.

Special rates may apply during specific events, so be sure to check before you leave your vehicle or park overnight. However, the Waikiki Shell lot is a cost-effective option even then since the event parking prices start at $6.

Nearby Waikiki hotels provide their guests with free parking, so these are also excellent options if you want to stick around for a few days.

How To Hop on a Bus to the Zoo

If you’re staying in a city hotel, you don’t have to drive to the zoo. In addition to the bus stop right in front of the zoo, there are several others on the surrounding streets. A one-way bus fare is $2.75. Click here to learn more and find bus schedules.

Visitors flying into Daniel K. Inouye International Airport have multiple transportation options. We suggest that you arrange a Honolulu Airport Shuttle or request an Uber at Honolulu Airport. NHL is approximately 9.5 miles away from the zoo.
