Fenway Park

Fenway Park is Boston’s large baseball park located a short drive away from the city center. It’s the oldest active MLB ballpark that’s been home to the Boston Red Sox since 1912. For more than 100 years, Fenway Park has hosted countless events and games — visitors have been coming to watch baseball, football, boxing, soccer, hockey, etc. The ballpark can accommodate over 37,000 guests.

The Fenway Park address is 4 Jersey Street, which is only minutes away from the downtown area and quickly accessible by car. People who plan on driving to the park should find out more about event parking services near Fenway Park before starting the journey. That’s where we come in! Keep reading for information on the main parking facilities, off-site parking lots, street parking spots, and the rates.

What Are the COVID Restrictions for Fenway Park?

Since state officials dropped most COVID-related restrictions, the venue has been operating at full capacity without any constraints. As of March 2022, Fenway Park doesn’t require face masks or vaccination certificates upon entry.

Fenway Park Parking Options

If you’re going to check out a weekend or evening game, you can park in the official Fenway Park parking garages. The garage parking option is very convenient and close to the park, but it’s the most expensive choice. >>Reserve on Vivid Seats. Fenway Garage is located at 189 Ipswich Street and provides secure indoor parking for all fans. It’s open from 4 AM and 10 PM, and the daily parking price on game days is $50.

The official parking areas of the Boston Red Sox include:

  • Ipswich Garage, the closest option, is located a 2-minute walk away from the entrance. It’s not suitable for oversized vehicles like large SUVs or pick-up trucks. The regular parking rate on game nights is $50.
  • Prudential Center, which is accessible from several streets: 81 Huntington Ave, 111 Huntington Ave, 85 Exeter St, 48 Dalton St, 116 Belvidere St, and Ring Rd. The cost is $16 with a valid ticket.
  • 100 Clarendon Garage, which offers 2000 covered parking spaces. It’s a great economy parking option, but the walk to the facility takes over 25 minutes. The daily rate is only $10.

The venue suggests an array of other options, and most of them have rates ranging between $40 and $55. The most affordable facility is the Somerset Garage at 425 Newbury St—the event rate is $35.

Accessible Parking

Handicapped parking is scarce but available at several locations near Fenway Park. A limited amount is available on Jersey Street near Gate D* (between Van Ness St and Boylston St) and on Ipswich Street near Gate B. Disabled parking stalls are also available in several lots off Brookline Avenue and Lansdowne St. Standard parking rates apply.*Note that only Gate B and D have an elevator for visitors who require it.

Tailgating at Fenway Park

Tailgating is prohibited in the main parking facilities, and we suggest visiting a sports bar or tavern in the area before the game. It’s a great substitute for tailgating, and many places in the area offer excellent craft beers and tasty food. We looked into all the establishments near Fenway Park and listed the top 5 bars in the area:

Red Sox Parking Near Fenway Park

Even though parking around the baseball park is limited, we discovered many city parking areas that offer discounted parking rates. Downtown parking is ideal for cost-conscious guests, and you can lower your expenses by making a reservation in advance in one of those lots. The only downside to this option is the distance — you would have to take a longer walk to the park.

See the list below for all the lots and garages in the area, as well as their rates and locations.

Parking Garage/Lot Rate Address Walking Time
Haviland Street Garage $45 7 Haviland St. 9 minutes
Warren Towers Garage $33 700 Commonwealth Ave. 9 minutes
Hynes Auditorium Garage $19 50 Dalton St. 13 minutes
Christian Science Plaza Garage $19 235 Huntington Ave. 16 minutes
Tasty Burger Lot $11 52 Jersey St. 2 minutes

One more thing; finding a cheap or even free spot on the street is not out of the question, but you have to arrive early enough. Free parking is available along Bay State Road after 5 PM on weekdays and Saturdays and all day on Sundays. Alternatively, metered parking on Beacon Street is a suitable option but for a cost of up to $22. Don’t forget to look at the street signage and make sure you won’t get a ticket or be towed.

Transportation to the Park

To avoid the search for a suitable public parking area, visitors can use several transportation alternatives. Public transit is certainly the cheapest option, and the MBTA offers both public buses and trains that can take you to the park. The Kenmore station is a 5-minute walk from Fenway Park, while the Fenway station is a couple of minutes farther. Both are served by the Green Line. If coming from Worcester, hop on MBTA’s commuter rail train and get off at the Lansdowne station, which is 3 minutes from the park. Ridesharing is another option; Uber picks up on Boylston and Beacon Streets and is an ideal choice for small groups.
