Tickets to the Boston Museum of Science

Exhibit halls are open from 9 AM to 5 PM. All visitors, except members, must purchase timed-entry tickets either online or by calling 617-723-2500. Museum members enter at no cost, while other guests pay the following Boston Museum of Science admission rates:

If you wish to catch a show or special exhibit, purchase your ticket along with general admission to get a discounted rate. The additional charge varies according to the show, but it’s approximately $6.

Tourists who plan to check out other city attractions should purchase a Boston CityPASS to save up to 50%. For $64, you can visit the MoS, New England Aquarium, and two other popular locations. Boston Museum of Science Parking

The Museum of Science has a four-level garage offering approximately 850 covered parking spaces and Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations. It opens at 5:30 AM and closes at 11 PM Sunday through Thursday or midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Since spots are obtainable on a first-come, first-served basis, we suggest that you arrive before 10:30 AM or after 3 PM to find a convenient stall easily.

How Much Is Parking at the Museum of Science?

Free parking at the MoS is available for the first 30 minutes, and then standard parking rates apply for most visitors. Members get special parking discounts. See the price list below for more info.

Since the garage is also open to the general public, you can use it when visiting the area. In this case, we recommend arriving after 5 PM to get a better deal and a flat rate of $20.

Accessible Parking

The official MoS garage is suitable for visitors with disabilities, too. ADA-paid parking stalls are available on each level near elevators and sometimes in the Museum driveway. The ground level can accommodate wheelchair lift vans, and the height clearance on this floor is 13’ 9”. Each guest occupying an ADA spot must present a disabled parking permit or license plate.

Additional Parking Near the Boston Science Museum

You’ll need approximately three hours to go through the MoS; we looked into hourly parking services nearby and listed rates for up to six hours if you want to spend more time in the area. The CambridgeSide Galleria parking structure is the most popular option, and it’s approximately a 5-minute walk away from the museum. Here are the short-term rates:

Alternatively, it would help to consider using an MBTA parking area and taking the subway to the museum. For instance, you can park at the Wellington Station for only $5 and use the Orange Line to get to the North Station. Learn more about public transit below. 

Street Parking

It might be hard to find convenient on-street parking near the Museum of Science, but you can give it a go. If you do come across an available spot, read the signs carefully to avoid pricey Boston parking tickets. Depending on the location, rates vary from $2.50 to $3.75 per hour.

Taking Public Transportation to the Museum

Public transit is the best alternative to parking, especially during vacation weeks, weekends, or daily peak hours. The Science Park station is located a 5-minute walk from the MoS and served by MBTA shuttles during the Green Line Extension period. The North Station is a 12-minute walk away, and you can use either Green Line or Orange Line to get there. A one-way subway fare is $2.40, while a standard MBTA bus fare is $1.70.
