O'Hare charges $15–$77/day on-site depending on the lot. Off-site lots on Mannheim Road start around $6/day. But the real decision at ORD isn't price — it's which terminal you're flying from. Terminals 1-3 connect to the Main Garage. Terminal 5 doesn't. Park wrong and you're riding the ATS train across the entire airport. This guide covers every on-site facility with current rates, the airline-to-terminal-to-lot routing table, break-even math for on-site vs. off-site by trip length, the Blue Line alternative, and what the O'Hare 21 construction means for your drive in.
O'Hare has four terminals, three economy lots, one main garage, and a construction project that's been rerouting traffic since 2024. On-site parking runs $15–$77/day depending on the lot. Off-site lots on Mannheim Road start around $6/day. The gap is big enough that a 7-day trip costs $105 in Economy Lot G versus $42 off-site — a $63 difference before you factor in shuttle time.
The thing most ORD parking guides don't tell you: your terminal determines your best parking move, and Terminal 5 (international) is physically separated from Terminals 1-3. If you park in the Main Garage and need Terminal 5, you're riding the Airport Transit System (ATS) train across the entire airport — add 15-20 minutes. If you park in Economy G or H, you're already at the Multi-Modal Facility that connects directly to all terminals including T5 via the ATS.
Quick decision: Domestic flight from T1/T2/T3 → Main Garage or Daily Lots B/C for walk-in access, Economy G/H for budget. International flight from T5 → Economy Lot F (inside the Multi-Modal Facility) or Economy G/H. Off-site → any flight, biggest savings, shuttle adds 10-20 min.
All rates from the Chicago Department of Aviation. Economy Lots include free ATS train access to all terminals.
| Facility | First Hour | Daily Max | Best For | How You Get to the Gate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Main Garage – Hourly (Level 1) | $3 | $77 | Pickup/dropoff only — brutal for overnight | Walk into T2. Pedestrian tunnels to T1 and T3. ~3 min |
| Main Garage – Daily (Levels 2-6) | $3 | $42 | 1-2 day business trips, zero shuttle hassle | Same walk. Valet available on Level 1 for $64/day |
| Daily Lots B & C | $3 | $42 | Overflow from Main Garage, same walk distance | Adjacent to Main Garage, walk to T1 or T3. ~5 min |
| Reserved Parking (Level 4) | $2.24 + fees | $16-$31 + fees | Pre-booked covered spot, guaranteed availability | Book at ord.clickandpark.com. Walk to T2 |
| Facility | First Hour | Daily Max | Best For | How You Get to the Gate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lot D (Terminal 5) | $3 | $77 | Short-term T5 pickup/dropoff only — very limited spaces | Walk directly into T5. ~2 min |
| Economy Lot F (MMF) | $3 | $22 | Best on-site option for multi-day international trips | ATS train from Multi-Modal Facility to T5. ~8 min |
| Facility | First Hour | Daily Max | Best For | How You Get to the Gate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Economy Lot F | $3 | $22 | Covered parking on Floors 4-5 of the Multi-Modal Facility at 10255 W. Zemke Blvd | ATS train to all terminals. ~8-12 min |
| Economy Lot G | $3 | $15 | Cheapest on-site option. Along Bessie Coleman Drive | ATS shuttle. ~10-15 min |
| Economy Lot H | $3 | $15 | Overflow for Lot G, same pricing | ATS shuttle. ~10-15 min |
O'Hare has four terminals numbered 1, 2, 3, and 5 — there is no Terminal 4. Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are connected after security. Terminal 5 is not.
| Your Airline | Your Terminal | Park Here for Walk-In | Park Here for Budget |
|---|---|---|---|
| United (domestic + some international) | Terminal 1 (Concourses B, C) | Main Garage / Lot B | Economy G or H ($15/day) |
| Delta, Air Canada, JetBlue | Terminal 2 (Concourses E, F) | Main Garage — you're directly attached | Economy G or H ($15/day) |
| American (domestic + some international) | Terminal 3 (Concourses G, H, K, L) | Main Garage / Lot C | Economy G or H ($15/day) |
| International carriers (Lufthansa, BA, JAL, etc.) + Delta international | Terminal 5 (Concourse M) | Lot D ($77/day — short stays only) | Economy Lot F ($22/day, covered, ATS to T5) |
The T5 trap: Terminal 5 is the furthest point on the airport loop. If you park in the Main Garage and need T5, you have to take the ATS train through T1, T2, T3, and then to T5. It works but budget an extra 15-20 minutes. Economy Lots F, G, and H connect to all terminals via the ATS from the Multi-Modal Facility — for T5 travelers, this is actually faster than the Main Garage.
Connecting flight warning: If you're connecting from a Domestic terminal (T1/T2/T3) to Terminal 5 or vice versa, you must exit security, take the ATS, and re-clear security at the destination terminal. Allow 90 minutes minimum for international connections through T5.
Off-site lots along Mannheim Road (Routes Airport Parking, Pride Airport Parking, Blue Sky, WallyPark, etc.) typically run $6-$14/day with free shuttle service.
| Option | 5-Day Cost | 7-Day Cost | Transfer Method | Time to Terminal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Main Garage Daily | $210 | $294 | Walk | ~3 min |
| Economy Lot F (covered) | $110 | $154 | ATS train | ~8-12 min |
| Economy Lot G | $75 | $105 | ATS shuttle | ~10-15 min |
| Off-site (avg $8/day) | $40 | $56 | Shuttle bus | ~10-20 min |
| Off-site (avg $6/day) | $30 | $42 | Shuttle bus | ~10-20 min |
At $6/day off-site, you save $45 over Economy G and $252 over the Main Garage for a week. For a 10-day international trip, the off-site savings vs. Lot F hits $162. The tradeoff is shuttle reliability — off-site shuttles run every 10-30 minutes depending on the operator, and frequency drops between 11 PM and 5 AM.
The Multi-Modal Facility (MMF) is the key to ORD parking. Located at 10255 W. Zemke Blvd, it's where Economy Lot F (Floors 4-5) sits, where the Rental Car Center is, and where the ATS train connects to all terminals. If you're using any Economy lot, this is your transit hub. The ATS runs every 3-5 minutes during peak hours, longer late at night.
Reserved Parking actually exists and most people don't know about it. You can pre-book a guaranteed covered spot on Level 4 of the Main Garage through ord.clickandpark.com. Rates are $16-$31/day plus fees — cheaper than the $42/day walk-up Daily rate and you're guaranteed a spot. This is the best-kept deal for domestic travelers who want garage proximity without the full $42.
Valet is McNamara-expensive but it exists. $64/day max. Drop off at the Departures Level kiosk in the Main Garage. Payment via cash, credit card, Google Pay, Apple Pay. Only available at the Main Garage (Terminals 1-3), not at Terminal 5.
Construction is ongoing. O'Hare's $8.5B expansion (O'Hare 21) is building a new Concourse D (19 gates, broke ground August 2025, completion ~2028) and eventually a new Global Terminal replacing Terminal 2. Expect lane closures on the terminal loop road, especially near the I-190/Balmoral Ave exit. If your flight is before 7 AM, use the Economy lots to avoid the terminal loop congestion entirely.
EV charging is free with standard parking rates at the Main Garage (Level 1) and the Multi-Modal Facility (Level 4, Economy Lot F). Limited number of chargers — don't count on availability during peak periods.
The Blue Line runs 24/7 directly to ORD from downtown Chicago. The station is in the basement of Terminal 2 (between Terminals 1 and 3). Fare: $5 from the airport, $2.50 to the airport.
When the Blue Line wins:
When the Blue Line doesn't work:
The rideshare break-even: An Uber/Lyft from downtown Chicago to ORD runs roughly $30-$50 each way depending on surge. Round-trip: $60-$100. That's equivalent to 1-2 days of Economy Lot G parking. For trips under 3 days, rideshare from the city often wins on both cost and convenience.
Nearly every off-site ORD lot sits along Mannheim Road (Route 12), running north-south just east of the airport. The major operators:
Routes Airport Parking (3901 Mannheim Rd, Schiller Park) — Valet service, shuttle to all terminals. 24-hour operation. One of the most reviewed ORD off-site lots. Known for proximity — "5 blocks from O'Hare." Rates from ~$12/day.
Pride Airport Parking (3950 N Mannheim Rd, Franklin Park) — Valet with car delivery service on return. Baggage assistance included. Shuttle to all terminals. Rates from ~$14/day.
WallyPark (9950 Lawrence Ave, Rosemont) — Covered and uncovered options. Car wash and oil change add-ons. Shuttle every 5-10 min. One of the larger facilities. Rates from ~$12/day.
O'Hare Blue Sky Parking (10415 United Parkway) — Indoor valet with car delivery. One of the few enclosed options. Popular for winter parking. Rates from ~$14/day.
River Street Parking / O'Hare Fast Spot (9500 River St) — Indoor 90,000 sq ft facility. Valet. Car wash available. Rates from ~$15/day.
Hotel park-and-ride lots (Best Western, Hyatt Regency, Loews, O'Hare Inn, Westin, Marriott, La Quinta, etc.) — Cheapest options, often $6-$10/day. Shuttle quality and frequency vary. Some run hourly, some on-demand. Some stop at 10-11 PM. Always confirm shuttle hours before booking.
If you live along the Blue Line, take the train. $5 from ORD, $2.50 to ORD, 45 min to the Loop. For solo travelers on trips under 4 days, this beats every parking option on both cost and time.
If you're doing a same-day pickup or dropoff, use the Cell Phone Waiting Lot (free, on Bessie Coleman Drive) and have your passenger call when they're at baggage claim. Do not park in the Hourly lot at $77/day max just to walk inside.
If your international flight from T5 departs before 5 AM, most off-site shuttles are running on reduced schedules. Economy Lot F gives you ATS access 24/7 without depending on a shuttle. Or take a rideshare — a 2 AM Uber to ORD is usually cheap and fast.
Holiday weekends (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break): Economy Lots G and H fill up by mid-morning. Lot F (covered, $22/day) lasts longer because of the higher price. If you're not at the airport by 9 AM during peak periods, book off-site and don't gamble.
O'Hare is in the middle of its largest-ever capital improvement program:
Expect construction-related traffic disruptions on the terminal loop road through at least 2028. The Balmoral Ave exit off I-190 is particularly affected. If your flight is early morning, approach via Economy lots to bypass the terminal loop entirely.
The Cumberland/Rosemont Blue Line hack: Park at the Cumberland or Rosemont CTA station lot (free or cheap), ride the Blue Line one or two stops to ORD. Total cost: $5 round-trip train fare + $0 parking. Works well for travelers coming from the northwest suburbs who don't want to deal with airport traffic.
Mannheim Road timing: If you're heading to an off-site lot on Mannheim, avoid the 7-8 AM and 4-6 PM windows — Mannheim gets backed up from local traffic independent of the airport. Coming from I-294, exit at Irving Park or Touhy to approach from the north.
The I-190 construction detour: With ongoing lane shifts near Balmoral Ave, experienced ORD travelers are using Zemke Blvd to access Economy lots directly, bypassing the terminal loop entirely. This approach works for Economy G, H, and the MMF (Lot F).
