Long Term never costs more than Short Term, and from 1 hour on it is $2 to $3 cheaper, then $15 cheaper once a stay passes 5 hours. The spread is deliberate. Lubbock Lights reported on August 23, 2024 that the airport proposed raising the Short Term maximum from $18 to $22 and the garage from $12 to $13, starting October 1, while keeping Long Term at $7 and Airport Shelter Park at $8; the City's page now lists the higher rates. Airport executive director Kelly Campbell told the City Council, "We actually have ample parking. It's just not where people want it."
How do you get from LBB's Long Term lot and Airport Shelter Park to the terminal?
LBB has one terminal building, opened in 1976 and expanded in 1986, and the City lists American, Southwest and United as its airlines. Short Term sits closest, near the terminal entrances. The garage is also near the terminal, though Lubbock Lights reported covered parking as more than 100 yards from the building.
Coming back on a shuttle, look to lane one at the green curb, where the City says ground transportation, including parking lot shuttles, is found. The City does not publish Airport Shelter Park's shuttle hours or frequency, so call 806-744-1004 before a late flight. The private lot at 1606 East Regis Street says its complimentary shuttles run every few minutes.
Picking someone up? The City's two free Cell Phone Waiting Areas sit along N Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., one just north of the Regis Street intersection and one before the road curves toward the terminal. Drivers must stay with their cars, and rideshare vehicles may not wait there.
