Service was really good. Also the ground floor and facilities were nice. The rooms have seen their best days long ago though. And during our stay, they had massive elevator issues, basically leaving only 1 out of 4 elevators operating for the entire hotel.
The staff is very friendly. There was a new front desk person when we checked in. He took forever to get us checked in. The room he assigned us was 2 full beds and we reserved a king. So we had to go back downstairs to get the right room. It was okay. He was new. I understand.
The hotel is very dated and dirty. It needs a major overhaul. Wall paper is peeling off the walls. The carpet was filthy with stains, wear and trash. The room was filthy. There's stickers in the bathroom and room saying "Cleaned and disinfected for your protection". Don't believe them! We wiped down the bathroom vanity and what was left on our towel was DISGUSTING. Check out the pictures. The entire room was dirty. They were curly hairs in the bath tub. The bathroom sink drained very slowly. The mattress wrecked both our backs. It was like sleeping directly on the bed coils. The desktop was wiped down and the towel was noticeably brown after we wiped it. The air vents that supply the air to the room were disgusting. This is what we're breathing? Gross!
2 of the 4 elevators were broken. There were missing covers on several electrical panels for the working elevators.
This is NOT what we expect from a Hilton property. This is room 934.
This review isn’t about the service. The front desk personnel was very nice and professional. But the rooms/halls/elevators were dilapidated. I just couldn’t believe the conditions of this hotel. The lobby was beautiful and I was so excited to get into my room. As soon as I entered the elevator I realized this place was a farce. There was so much wrong with this place and I will never stay in here again. In fact, if this is what double tree is offering I will no longer stay with them. Do not stay here the lobby is a illusion to lure you in. Can’t believe this is Hilton backed.
They say they have pickup shuttle service at the airport. Wrong. You have to take the air train somewhere to get the shuttle. We gave up and took a cab.
Our room was old and dated with stains all over the carpet. The bathroom looked horrible and the caulking in the bathtub looked like it was done by a three year old. Bed was very comfortable and television worked fine.
Two of the four elevators were out of service which was a major wait time in the morning.
Restaurant has NO chairs at the bar or high top tables and only four booths. All your food comes in plastic to go containers with plastic forks, knives, spoons and bar drinks in plastic cups. If you think you are going to have a nice dining experience at this hotel, forget about it.
Hotel Lobby is very Nice and staff are very friendly and welcoming. I had a great experience and my only reason for giving a 4 star ⭐️ is that the hotel rooms are a bit dated and there was only 1 elevator working at the time of my stay. And I also noticed a defect in the window wall in my room and since it wasn’t a nice sight to look at I closed the blinds even though it was beautiful outside.
From the moment I stepped in the front desk personnel was rude as hell. Came in with a friend and rented 2 rooms for 10 days, they could at least try to be friendly a little but not so. The dinner was subpar at best. For 20 bucks you figure they could at least make it taste a little decent. Sad part is we have 9 more days of this greasy food. This place ought to be top notch for the price that's paid. Only two people that worked here were decent enough to say welcome. I've stayed in less expensive hotels before and they more friendly. The bartender was about as friendly as a pit viper. They have a balcony but you can't use it. Only hope they have a washer other I'll be wearing the same clothes for 9 days. 😒
Unfortunately, this has to be one of the worst Hilton affiliated hotels I’ve ever stayed at! From check in to departure, there was nothing good. The hotel is in such disrepair that it should be torn down and remodeled from scratch! I arrived at reception and couldn’t find a baggage cart and asked at reception if they had any. The woman at reception told me she’d get one down shortly. We’ll, I waited awhile and nothing happened so I ended up taking the luggage up by myself. Then upon arrival to the room, the ‘clean stay’ tag on the door had already been ripped apart, meaning either it was put on initially from the previous stay or someone opened the door without replacing it with a new one. Then you go into the room and it smelled, was dirty from scuff marks all over the walls and the 1 bed and chair in the room had stains on them. The bathroom had to be the smallest bathroom ever in a Hilton. My wife and I could not move around it at the same time like most bathrooms where you can and so we had to be in it separately.
As one other reviewer wrote, 2 of the 4 elevators were out of commission. Upon checkout, there was a $25 charge for parking our car in their lot.
Oh, at at the reception desk at the busiest time of the evening there was only 1 person checking people in and so it must have been rough for the woman checking everyone in. Luckily we checked in via the Hilton app.
I cannot recommend this hotel at all and would actually tell potential clients to stay away.
I stay at Hilton affiliated hotels regularly and use their app so unfortunately they don’t rate their hotels on the app, unless I’m missing it, so you never know what to expect. Next time I’ll check the Google reviews first before booking.
Zero stars. This was the worst hotel experience I have EVER had.
I checked in, and all went well.
When I got to my room after dinner there was a party happening in the hall. Very loud and boisterous. But fine...
I placed a request for a wake up call around midnight.
Approx. 3:00 a.m. I awoke to my door being opened!
Thankfully I had put the swinging door lock on, so it didn't open fully.
There was pounding on the door and someone shouting.
I went to the door and asked what they wanted. A man shouted "Who is in here? This is the manager. This room is supposed to be unoccupied!"
I told him I had paid for the room and was given a key. He asked my name and I told him. He then went away.
The next morning (less than 3 hrs. later) I went to the front desk as I left to catch the shuttle for my flight. I told the man at the desk that someone had opened my door and yelled at me during the night. He said it was him!!! He had done that.
He explained that I was given the wrong room when I checked in.
HOW is this MY fault? In what world was opening my door in the middle of the night the reasonable response? What if I hadn't had the swinging door lock on? I would have awoken to a man above my bed yelling at me??? (I swear to God that would have resulted in the police being called and a lawsuit!)
I called the hotel when I returned home and spoke with another assistant manager. She said that she would reverse the charges and the manager would call me the following day and apologize.
It has been 5 days now, and the charge is not reversed and I received NO apology.
Unconscionable and unacceptable!
When first arriving to the hotel, the outside and lobby look nice. We checked in at the front desk, and proceeded to our room. The carpet had holes in the floor. The walls had missing paint and holes. With no refrigerator or even microwave. When telling them this information they moved my room & offer me parking. The hotel smelled like weed everyday in the elevators and floors. Also have to request housekeeping “and hope they can find someone”. Every night we would have to park in the far back of the hotel because cars would be parked all over. Comes check out day, they tried to charge me $35 each night for parking. Not only did they guarantee me parking. How do you pay to stay at a hotel than charge your guest to park on premises... stay was awful..
The front desk clerk charge me 25$ plus tax for parking and all night long the gate bars were left open and no parking security available. I feel like if the hotel going to charge for parking than I should feel like I'm paying for something safe and secure. She charge me for the card and I not once had to use it to enter or exit the lot. It really felt like parking was free. I was charge for parking because I mention it to the front desk clerk. So I Would like my money back
Great stop. Had a flight early out of Newark International Airpot the next morning so I thought I would keep it close in case I over slept or something. Front desk ladies were great even allowed their personalities to show up so it wasn’t just transactional. I like that. The room was clean with a view of the New York City skyline. It worked out great. Highly recommend this hotel. I’ll definitely be back when in town again.
Put it like this, I Missed my flight. I was leaving on time, super close to the airport.. The elevator was not working and traveling with multiple bags, down 11 flights alone did not help. Tried to call the desk, using every single button on the in room phone. No one answered. Not one line, I was trying to see if the freight elevator was an option. 830 flight became 3pm stuck in the airport. Seriously just terrible.
My room didn't have the seal on the door. I had to fix the cold water faucet nut underneath the counter to stop the faucet from moving around. Noticed a lot of staff not following mask policy or enforcement of guests. I cancelled my breakfast twice and just ordered coffee when I saw from my seat that the cook in the back didn't have a mask preparing food. Elevators were gross, never felt clean. I saw the same gross grease stain or some smear on the glass for 4 days straight. As a diamond member, I didn't really get to enjoy the diamond amenities, but I understand. Didn't live up to the Hilton standard I'm used to seeing.
WOW... disappointing on so many levels. Checked in with the breakfast park n fly package. Was not given coupon to use for breakfast, then wife drove in after work and parking was added to room. Ordered breakfast and told attendant it was part of our package but... she charged it to room anyway. Missed airport shuttle getting everything fixed. Worst of all... no cookies at check-in! Was only there 14hrs but they couldn't mess anything else up.
My truck was stolen off of the lot. DO NOT STAY HERE AND LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE for park and fly. Their lot is fenced in, gated with security cameras. The manager claims that they helped me, but they will not help me because they can't see who is driving my truck outta their lot! I was in Florida! The manager sees someone driving my truck out of their lot! Seriously?
I stay at this place from Oct 21st through Oct26 start from front desk was very rude and trying to give me the other room even I booked one month ago, after he gave me the room I went and saw the room was dirty and still i try to call but no answer, after 3 hrs. later that person was gone and one lady was working at the front desk and change the room and this time bed was not change and one roach was on the desk crawling so I went back again and they change to lower level, I requested for refrigerator but there was no refrigerator or microwave. Even i booked to executive level but they finally gave to lower level and charge me for executive level price , when I complain to Hilton customer service there also I have wait on phone around 25 minutes after some one came and took the info only not even ask what happen after 2 days property manager just send the apologies email and that's it...I highly not recommended this place they have roaches in this hotel.......
Best part about this hotel is 24 hr shuttle service to the airport every like 20 minutes. Would be 5 stars if they got their elevator act together. Everything else was great including the breakfast.
A hotel nearby the Newark Liberty airport and they offer shuttle from the airport to the hotel but it’s a long wait . The rooms were clean and neat but no room service . I stayed for 4 days and it was not cleaned at all in all these days. Food was good , but the restaurant was not operating as usual due to COVID. Even the pool and the gym were shut. The rooms seemed to be very dark , lighting’s can be improved. The staffs were very polite and helpful.
if there was an option of no star at all, that would definitely be my option... I stood, matter fact I am still here because my trip was pre-booked with my family, of me my husband and my children, I was denied a rolled up be to fit my child, as well as an additional comforter at least, they said I had to wait until morning time to get the comforter and there was nothing they could do for me. Being a mother and a wife who cares for the well being of my family i can definitely say I will no longer stay at this inconsiderate staff teamed place ever again... oh and by the way I requested house keeping yesterday and arrived at an untouched bedroom! walked in into a unmade beds and no towels at all to shower... wrapping it up with 2 words... NEVER AGAIN!
I had a very good time at the double tree The staff was excellent very friendly Help me out we all the details and how to get around Memphis I had to stay in Memphis again it it will be at the double tree What else I can say 5 stars
I don't understand why my food delivery person can't deliver the food to my room. I paid for this room and I should have the right to invite people up to my paid for room. When I order food to be delivered, I give the delivery person permission to deliver the food to my room. What is the point of the "pickup your food in lobby policy" for and how is it different from that delivery person delivering to an apartment or house. It's actually more safe in hotel because of all of the cams in the hallways. So if I paid for my room and I'm the guest, the hotel have no right to tell me who I can allow to my room. I paid for service. I don't pay to inconvenience me.
We love this place with my friend! But I heard last time the shuttle drivers start charging $10 to take ppl shopping i don't know why,
It's okay. Bring your own sanitizer lobby were empty. Three day stay not filled once.
I loved how close it was to the convention center which is connected so I didnt have to get out on the cold. Everything was modern and the beds were comfy. LOVE IT!
Really clean, great view, decent prices.
This is a really nice hotel, but if you want convenience or walking distance somewhere downtown is more of a stay. The staff is very polite and helpful because of covid they have cut off all vending machines which makes is kinda odd since the ice machines are full effect. But B for effort.

Almost luxurious! Easy check in. Professional staff. Very clean and comfortable for a pet friendly facility.
This place have a very courteous, friendly and helpful staff. We would recommend it to anyone and hope to be able to come back soon. This is what we especially liked about our stay. Accommodation: very spacious and fully equipped with everything you need and more, extremely clean with a nice balcony, good Wi-Fi and air conditioning. They also have an awesome pool and terrace area. They would offer free water, motorbike rental at a reasonable price - daily cleaning and fresh (beach) towels - tour and restaurant tips. They also served delicious breakfast at reasonable price. Strongly recommended!
The hotel and staff were very nice. Although the rooms passed the "black light" test, there were no indications that extra cleaning measures were done. The room doors were not sealed or the remotes were not wrapped. As always, I suggest taking your own Lysol and wipes to reassure you are safe
I am currently staying here I booked this hotel and paid extra because it was the Doubletree by Hilton. All the Amenities that are list are not in service. No pool. No breakfast. I had to take the shuttle with my six year old to the airport to get food. Then wait an hour for the shuttle to return. At 1:00 am my Room had to be changed because I was being bitten by bugs and the air conditioner didn't work. To top it off they had a seal on the door saying how clean it was. This is a JOKE! The Doubletree Hilton refuses to take any responsibility.
Very disappointed! Expected better. The room has no refrigerator, the shower is poor. Hallways smell, main elevators out of service, had to use service elevator. Over priced for this kind of service. Won’t see me back here ✌🏾
The experience was great. The room was very clean and the soft welcoming bed was a plus.
Staff is awesome, treated us like family, beautiful hotel, good food, and room and housekeeping was excellent!
Our daughter’s bag was lost at the airport today and she has an early report time tomorrow morning 5:00am. We called at 12:00 am and Erica at the front desk jumped into action. In a matter of minutes, Erica made sure that our daughter was able to get a Phone charger and toiletries. She also called to inquire about the delivery of the bag and was able to clarify the approximate delivery time. When I asked Erica about letting her manager know, she didn’t want any extra accolades and simply said, “ I understand being away from home and I want to make sure that everything is ok.” The level of customer service that we received from this professional allowed my wife and I to rest easier because someone was looking out for our daughter. Although we may never meet you, Ms. Erica, God bless you and your family and thank you for your service.
The staff was friendly, the entire hotel was extremely clean and accommodating. The room was very clean, and comfortable. I would recommend to friends! Extremely pleased. A+
So glad I stayed here! Staff was fabulous, room was PERFECT! The restaurant were a nice addition, and very kind service.
I had the poorest experience during my 6-night (20-26 Feb 2020) stay at DoubleTree - Newark Airport. Sent them my suit to dry clean but was returned shrunk and bubbled like blisters as if it was thrown in the washing machine or something. Unfortunately I only found this out after I had checked out, when i put on the suit, but by this time i was already in Toronto. I tried calling front desk but no one was interested to help (bounced around various departments) or get the manager to return my calls. So when I returned to Singapore I continued trying.
Finally the night manager responded on 2-March but said it had to be handled by the day manager and so day manager was informed (by email). I didn't hear back though, until 8-March after i followed up and was told again that it would be looked into but never heard back until 19-March after I chased up (again).
On 19-March the day manager finally gets back to me but said she couldn't do anything and I had to ring the dry cleaners myself. I expressed my disappointment to said day manager but that was the last correspondence between us, haven't heard from them since.
Tried contacting the dry cleaners in hope for someone to be reponsible, they too have ignored my emails and calls. So I guess I'm left with my damaged wedding suit.
Beautiful hotel with spacious, comfortable rooms. The gym is top of the line with everything you need and the breakfast is a much. I enjoyed the executive lounge because I was the only one in it and I got alot of work done.
I used the Double Tree for long term parking and did not spend the night here. First thing I thought was why does this place offer parking when it can barely accommodate the cars already in the lot. The lot was full of cars! I mean full. Cars parked everywhere, on the curb, next to trees and definitely not in designated parking spots. I wish I would have taken a picture! It must be some kind of safety hazard?? I did eventually get a spot because luckily someone pulled out. If not I would have missed my flight or gotten swiped because I had to park on the grass or next to the curb. Secondly. Front staff. Awful. Both the ladies that helped me when I arrived and the young man who helped me tonight when I returned we’re rude. No hellos or how are you. Very strange customer service. There was a woman named Edith (I think) who gave me instructions on the phone on how to get to the shuttle pickup area at the airport. She was very polite. Shuttle driver on the way to the airport was awesome. The guy who picked us up tonight, not so awesome. Drove kind of wild for my taste. So overall, not the best experience for me. Maybe other people will be luckier. But for me I will not be using this lot again. I’ve always had such pleasant experiences with Double Tree hotels (staying and long term parking). Wonder what happened to this one....?
Friendly people, rooms were clean! Beers a lot higher 7.50- 8.00 a bottle. I guess we should be bringing our own next time ! Shuttle Service is on the money! Hope this helped !
Hated when I stayed there. The customer service is horrible, there was no mini refrigerator in my room, and you have to pay extra to park in there parking lot. On the bright side they have an inside pool the lobby looks nice and the room looked decent. That was my first and last stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Newark Airport.
Waited awhile to check in although only 2 people were in front of me. We I got to my room there was a bedbug on the shower which put me off. The only reason I'm giving to stars is because my room had a nice view over the indoor pool area
I'm a Hilton honors member and I don't want to sound silly but they forgot to give me water iwhen I checked in I asked three other time before they finally gave me my bottle of water and I don't have any bottles of water or water in the room... So far I've been here 5 hours. Let's hope the next 43 hours get better. My experience changes I'll change my review.
One of the best airport hotels I've stayed at!
The rooms are big and comfortable, and staff are friendly and helpful.
Will definitely stay here again.
This was a nice place to rest your head for business, and sometimes you can get a pretty darn good rate at a real Hilton. I love the view, because it shows the broad broad shoulders of central New Jersey. The airport is just crazy awesome piece of human accomplishment and then behind it are the truly awesome Newark docks.
Stayed one night, but, left my car there for 8 days. Can't beat the price.
Huge room, king bed. Very nice looking place, great breakfast.
Free airport shuttle.
Beautiful hotel. I stayed there during a weekend conference and the facilities were nice and the food served at the conference was really good. Very convenient to Liberty Airport. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and modern. The only problem was that the elevators seemed to have problems that caused delays in opening and closing the doors. Sometimes the elevator would shudder weirdly before stopping at a floor and sometimes the doors would open and close partially a few times before opening or closing completely. I suspect that the switch that controls the doors and possibly on some floors, the switch that tells the elevator that it has arrived at a floor may be broken. It's probably not a safety issue, but it may be the kind of thing that gets you stuck in an elevator with doors that won't open. For us it was annoying because it almost made us late to catch a shuttle to a meeting we had to attend.
If I wrote a novel about a person in purgatory, this is where the story would take place.
The room service staff has apparently moved to a location where they can't be reached by the phone. I'm serious, that's what the front desk said when I called them to ask why no one is answering the room service line.
The breakfast included is inedible. Not joking. It is rancid and disgusting, and offered in a conference room that looks like something out of the shining, only designed in a palette ranging from poop-brown to Newark concrete Grey.
The check-in took over 30 minutes (there were three people in front of me, and three working at the check-in desk). But no worries, they offered me a cookie.
Good travel or layover hotel. Luck at the front desk started us out right with a warm, kind reception. The renovations look great.
I was an adult chaparone with a large group of band kids that stayed earlier this week. Rooms were nice and clean, beds/pillows were comfortable, and the breakfast both mornings were excellent. At checkout, a girl in my group had lost a shirt in the towels that housekeeping had removed the previous day. The nice gentleman at the front desk took its description and my info in case it was found. In the meantime, when returning home, my son (also on the trip) lost a bag of dirty laundry when he was packing to leave. I called to check if it had been found, but the woman who answered the front desk line was short with me, and transferred me to a random voice mail. I don't even know if it was housekeeping or not. After attempts to get back to the front desk, and being continuously blind transferred, I left a message. I guess you have to be there to get helped.
The hotel itself is very nice. But late check in at 4pm. Try to get them to validate parking. Very clean but took forever for them to have my room ready. We changed our days staying cause it was so much confusion about our room being ready. The room was nice and clean. And the cookie was tasty.
Updated and modern. Great service. Big comfy and clean. With all the amenities you'd expect from a modern day hotel. I highly recommend it.
My flight arrived at 1 am. Got to the hotel and was greeted with warmth and cookies. I was exhausted, and with out having to ask, I was given an extended checkout without charge. The room was clean and quiet. I love the Crabtree and Evelyn bath products. I ate lunch at the restaurant in the main lobby and it was very good. It took a bit longer than expected, but I was happy with my Cesar salad and salmon. The house chips and onion dip were good as well. The hotel has a great gym and pool as well.
Located near the airport, this company has a shuttle that runs every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day. It is nicely decorated and has a pool. I wish I had more time to explore rather than a 7 hour layover. The cookies are delicious but contain nuts. The staff and were a bit rude with each other at times in front of guests and our room had a bit of a smell upon entering. Although it appeared nice and clean, it almost had a staleness and cigarette smell to it in a non smoking room. If you can get a good price, overall it seems like a good place to stay.
Staff polite, welcoming & helpful. They deserve 5 stars however, the room we were assigned to was OCCUPIED! Fortunately, no one was in room, we didn't enter, beds unmade & suitlcases insight.
The food & service at the conference was EXCELLENT! The chicken, carrots, mashed potatoes & asparagus were cooked to perfection!
Visited from Toronto with the family to explore New York City. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the rooms were great. The beds are super comfy! My only complain would be that if you get a room where the balcony is inside overlooking the hotel lobby, you’ll hear people talking. Especially over breakfast. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay! Thanks for having us!
we had a very happy stay at the hotel. Erika at the reception went far and beyond to help us check in and stay welcomed; the rooms are also very clean and spacious. Overall they made a long trip seem stressfree with the relaxing and yet family friendly atmosphere. I love this place and would definitely visit again.
Free airport shuttle. Greetings with a warm cookie as soon as you walk in. Comfortable bed and good water pressure. It's limit outdated, renovations would be welcome. Very busy at the time I went. My room was facing inside, view on the bar and it was noisy. I would recommend room facing outside for quieter stay.
