I absolutely love this airport, this is my first time and so impressed, smooth not crowded. As an international passenger my immigration process was easy and welcoming baggage pickup drop security all are amazingly smooth, I definitely recommend.
And there are no TSA agents shouting 😂 for your electronic devices 😂

Good airport. Delta airlines and spirit airlines flights are plentiful at this airport. Things move pretty quickly at this. The lines are generally not that long. And the facilities are pretty good too here. This airport is better than quite a few other airports out there…the lounge is pretty good too

The Macnamera (Delta) terminal is excellent as far as US airports go. While terminal A is very long, the entire place has a simple layout, new and modern, lots of moving walkways, and an internal tram running the length of terminal A. B & C are close by, but smaller, and similarly easy to navigate. Good set of food choices, though may be a bit of a hike to get there.
Most food seems to be typical airport prices, but I did run across one place with $5 muffins which seemed to be a bit exorbitant, as even Starbucks isn't that much.
If you are changing airlines or not flying Delta, you'll likely need to visit the Evans terminal nearby. I haven't been there. There is a shuttle between the terminals, but likely takes awhile because you need to exit security and take a bus.

Nice airport, sometimes you can find cheap flights from here then from Chicago O'Hare.
Wait times are not long if you don't have baggage. Would recommend doing the check in online. Plenty of options for food/drinks/coffee ☕ .

Huge airport with tons of stores from just regular cloths to things you may need for hygiene. Also tons of places with food and drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. A wide variety of places to choose from and it seems like most of the employees at least during my last visit were pretty nice and helpful.

It’s an airport that’s easily navigable. Only been here for connections and so far it’s been pretty great as long as you don’t pick connections less than two hours. Reason is because it’s a fairly big airport so a slight delay would result in you scrambling to get to your gate, especially if you end up at the end of Concourse B/C and your connection is at the end of Concourse A. The upside to that is there are moving walkways in the tunnel that connects Concourse B/C to A and a tram that goes from end to end of Concourse A. Concourse A is bigger than B/C and has a lot more shops and restaurants to choose from. There are a lot of seating options and it is very airy and bright.

It was my first time here in this city and at this airport. Here i found one of the most nicest TSA staff and CBP. They treat you with respect and do their duty ethically. The airport has amazing art inside the building and it is very clean and well maintained. The restaurant’s are pretty decent with nice food.

Today, I had the opportunity to meet Mr. DEANDRE. He works for prospect in the airport. He assisted me when I needed it the most. He was very mannerable and had the best personality. I'm flying on standby today. He brought another passenger to the same gate and he went out of his way to see if I needed to go to the restroom or get food. I appreciate his hospitality. All transportation specialist should be as hospitable as he was.

Good food choices, easy to navigate, and plenty of seating. I may have just been there at a good time. 🤣 The layover was OK and was just enough time to eat and take a bio break. The concourse had lots of foot traffic but didn't feel crowded.

Delta terminal is modern, convenient and clean. Had good food choices. The in terminal tram is unique and looks cool, but saw just a few people on each run using it...so may not be viable....

The airport is very clean, and terminals are easily accessible. It has well organized Gates access ( A,B,C). My flight got delayed by 2 hours, but it was not boring as I had a couple of things to do such as eating, roaming around, and capturing the flying machines moving into the camera reel.

This is a nice clean airport, they have the cat walks which I think are great, there is a tram for anyone interested to get you around, our baggage was delivered to the wrong carousel not sure why but no biggie. BIGGEST complaint to really all airports, WHY are smoking areas not available to smokers, when you have lay overs and delays it's really not fair to those that do smoke that have to wait over 8 hours. I just feel there should be something available to them!

Better experience than expected and has a very cool tunnel but, unfortunately part of it was under construction at the time of passing through. Only issue I had was the bathrooms being slightly dirty and almost slipped on the floor in one of the McDonald’s so, be careful lol.

Very nice and clean airport with a lot of options. I was impressed when I saw the train that’s actually inside the terminal. Don’t think the other terminals are as nice but deltas terminal in A is very nice

Most food options for Delta are at the A gates and NOT B or C concourses. Also, most gates are small amd shared, so there's not alot of seats available for sitring. You can tell they take pride in their airport by keeping it clean. Some construction is happening throughout. Chick Fil-A near A- 75 gate.

I have never been to DTW airport ever in my life, or anywhere in Michigan for that matter, until recently. My wife and I had layovers at this airport on 7 Feb 2024 and 10 Feb 2024, and I'll say upfront, this airport is surprisingly nice. I had it in my head that this airport would've been dirty and/or have the appearance of falling apart, due to what I've heard and read about this city itself.
During my layovers at this airport, I had the privilege of trying a couple restaurants; one of them is Leo's Coney Island and the other is Chick-fil-A. Although Chick-fil-A is nothing new to me, it's still worth mentioning since I did experience it here at this airport. Also, I rated and posted a review to both restaurants individually via Google if you're curious about my experiences there. Links are below:
Also, since my hometown airport is in Las Vegas, I'm accustomed to having slot machines everywhere and having that modern look to the entire airport. It's weird to not have any of that entertainment at DTW, but it was also refreshing because it was a lot quieter at this airport. The tram going back and forth in the Delta terminal was cool to see and I was shocked at how quiet it was while in operation. Overall, this airport is nice - I definitely wouldn't complain down the road if this airport was my layover again in the future...or if this airport was my final destination.

Recently rated the best airport (in the largest category) in the country. I've been through here several times before and it's one of my favorites to connect through. Very clean and up-to-date, easy to navigate, typically not too crowded. The McNamara terminal is a mile long, so there is an air train that runs nearly the full length. And it's quiet, too. Several upscale stores near the center and numerous dining options throughout. There was a pianist performing on my most recent visit. If you have a choice of connecting through here, I'd recommend it, although several of Delta's hubs have left positive impressions over the years.

This is by far my favorite airport to fly through in the Midwest...smaller than Minneapolis and Chicago and really easy to get around. It's usually not as busy, is clean, and the employees are friendly. The bathroom stalls can be narrow, but that's most airports if you're hauling around a carry-on and personal item.
Oh, and the fountain is awesome--see my pics.....

Absolutely Fantastic 💯! 5 stars! Easy access plenty of patrons and foods, especially good. This is a magnificent airport that is easy to get around in. Everyone is friendly and nice. All types of services are available, and there's plenty of room for growth. Travel around Detroit and other cities are easy to get around to. Put this airport on your next layover. You will not regret it. 🤩 Be Cool 😎 Remember to check out my bio. I left a Thank you note for everyone. I appreciate your support. Follow me!

Clean and organized with good clear signage. There is a monorail train on the second level between terminal gates. Food is hit or miss based on the traveler's reviews.

Very nice architecture, gorgeous calming fountain with great views of planes. The tram is a great to get around the airport quickly if you're pressed for time.
The tunnel looks awesome but sadly it was under renovation when I passed through so it was only working at minimum.
Beautiful large open spaces and very well renovated.

Good experiences every time I come to this airport. Friendly staff, super shiny, and always clean. My only complaint is how often TSA precheck is closed, but it doesn’t matter too much, they always get you through security lickity split.

Lots of good restaurant options and bathrooms were clean, which was great for a long layover. Unfortunately, the layover was longer than expected with new delays every time we got close to the takeoff time. However, the pilot was super professional and did his best to inform us and stayed polite even when some passengers weren't. I did take advantage of the extra layover time to get in a walk in the terminal. So long there is a tram from one end to the other. Much nicer than walking in circles in other airports.

DTW is an excellent clean airport! Concourse A is so long with many food and shopping options! The bathrooms are clean and private! The concourse is opened space on both sides of the moving walking floor! Highly recommend this airport! They even have a tram car !

Very bright and modern. This has to be my favorite airport to fly through. Plenty of space to relax during layovers and plenty of restaurant and shopping choices. The tunnel that links the main terminal with the others is pretty neat with the colorful light displays synchronized with the music. A layover here is definitely a must if you have the option.

The airport is usually clean and very well designed. Usually special events like coke-cola sales and orchestra performances. Deltas terminal is really nice especially their bathrooms since they are very clean, never a line. The Tram is making my life so much easier, however between 11pm and 3am the tram doesn’t usually operate. Great airport, not huge but really well designed and has very good airlines that operate out of the airport. ( mainly Delta ) The Cat walks/ moving walks are never out of service so you can also count on those if your gate is close.

Out of all the places for an international, hub, I didn’t expect Detroit to be in the list. We arrived from Tokyo-Haneda to here and immigration was smooth. We went to the McNamara Terminal and it was the best terminal I’ve ever seen. The views of the planes were beautiful and the whole terminal was huge! Detroit has surprised me!

Took me flying to dozens of airports to really appreciate the Detroit one. Spread out and well thought out. They have a nice monorail that runs the length of the terminals so you can just hop on and off. Slick and clean. Several delta skyclubs with great options and views. I'd does peak at high times as any airport would but very spacious and open feeling.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport with friends and family and had a pleasant experience. We stopped for a connecting flight and were greeted by some friendly and professional employees who offered to take us to our next gate, which was on the other side of the airport. The young lady inquired about us eating and provided us with the best options that would meet our needs.
We recommend traveling through Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport so you can receive the same wonderful service we did.

Big airport, walkways very clean, and has a lot of much-needed signage. Couldn't find a gender neutral bathroom, which was annoying. Men's restroom fairly gross. The moving walks are very helpful, though. Tunnel was really cool. Overall a positive experience.

Nice spacious clean, I love how it's easy and smooth to navigate. I had a 2 hours wait between two flights and I absolutely enjoyed the walk. Lots of stores and food.

Detroit Wayne Airport is a large and modern airport that offers a variety of amenities for passengers. The airport is well-maintained, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Here are some pros and cons of DTW:
Pros:
Large airport with a variety of amenities
Convenient location, just outside of Detroit
Served by a variety of transportation options
Friendly and helpful staff
Cons:
Can be crowded during peak travel times
Long security lines can be a hassle
Some food and beverage options are overpriced
Overall, DTW is a great airport for a layover or a connecting flight. The airport is clean, efficient, and has a variety of amenities. However, if you are looking for a more relaxing airport experience, you may want to consider flying into a smaller airport.

First time at this airport. Didn't have much of a layover, so not much to comment on. There was plenty of moving walkways and all the terminals were spacious. No problems.

The McNamara Terminal is huge: 78 gates in one straight line. That’s good news if you are on a long journey and want to stretch your legs!
Or you could take the red elevated train which has stops at the ends and the middle of the terminal. It is fast and driverless, yet it never has an accident….
A feature I appreciated a lot is the reflection room at the center of the terminal, where you can pray or meditate; a silent spot away from the busyness.
The selection of restaurants is OK, but there are very few coffee shops. This could be improved.
I like the charging poles with USB ports that are widely available while you wait at one of the gates.
The terminal is quiet and and pleasant on your ears.
The water feature at the center of the terminal was nice the last time I was here (with intermittent spurts: cool!) It is being redone and hidden from view. Who knows what will pop up when it’s finished!
Delta has a nice new service: scan your boarding pass at a special desk in the center hall and your flight info appears in big letters on the big screen above your head, only for you to see; everyone else sees a blue screen with a plane only.

Simple enough to navigate. Clean all-over and had comfy seats. I really liked the art from the museum throughout the airport. This is the only airport where I have ever seen the left luggage, clothing or personal items we are warned to watch out for... And there were a lot of them, I spotted 5 unattended personal items, 2 of which were backpacks. When I reported a left backpack in the ladies restroom to the janitor cleaning the men's restroom, he didn't seem to care, like it's an everyday occurrence. And I sat and waited to see if someone would go on and check on it, it was over 10 minutes before the lady janitor came and I don't think she came for the backpack. Odd.

Haven’t been to the airport in awhile. They’ve made quite a few updates and it looks nice. The TSA are a lot nicer and the lines move very fast. The only issue is the airport is very dirty in certain areas and could be worked on. Other than that still one of my fav airports to travel through. Also, love the artwork shown throughout the terminal walkways. 10/10 :)

Clean airport with many food, shopping and service options. Tram for easy movement from one end of terminal to the other. I would prefer a layover here to most other airports! 🛫

Not as bad as I expected. I departed from the Evans terminal. Very simple. The line for Frontier baggage drop off was pretty long though (not the airports fault). TSA was not terribly long either.
When I returned home, I arrived in the McNamara terminal (Delta). It's quite a long walk to the baggage claim. So, take the Delta shuttle if you need to.
If you leave your vehicle in the blue deck long term parking ramp, you have to take a shuttle from the McNamara terminal. They were down one shuttle so the green lot shuttle driver had to pick up both passengers. It did make the wait a little longer, but he was quick and efficient. His driving was definitely some Detroit city driving, but we lived.

Service was on point 👉. From the beginning, by getting my family side by side rooms during during multiple college graduations. Food was also amazing, our server Martell was inviting and attentive to a table of 10. The artichoke dip appetizer shall I say is a hearty dish took it over the top for a professional that works and trains in the service industry. Keep building and maintaining the standards 👌.

Overall this airport wasn't bad for a connection. Seemed relatively easy to navigate through considering the majority of it is just one big terminal. There are not as many food/drink options as some other airports I've been to, but it gets the job done.

This is one of the nicest airports I've traveled through. Would definitely suggest if you get the chance to eat at the PF Changs as the service and food were remarkably good. As far as the cleanliness, I give it a 4.5 for WELL ABOVE AVERAGE. KUDOS DTW thank you for a smooth transition.

One of the best (if not THE best) airports in North America. Clean, spacious, lots of seating, convenient shuttle train, easy to navigate, etc, etc.
This last trip we were travelling over the holidays, and they had a musician playing a piano near the wonderful water feature. A nice, festive touch.
Even my teenagers commented on what a great airport it is. Well done DTW!

I loved this airport. I had a fabulous steak dinner at the Longhorn restaurant. I believe Pamela was my waitress she is awesome. There are plenty of places to relax and enjoy yourself while you're waiting for your flight. I am grateful for the massage chair 💺 money well spent.

I flew in and out of McNamara with Delta. Everything was clean and tidy. The announcement are clear. If there is a gate change - they let you know. People social distance themselves for the most part. Quick through TSAPre-check. Bag also arrived quickly. 5 star!

Not the best airport in the world but definitely most simplest airport you can find. Simple and easy, you can’t get lost in the airport, only 2 terminals delta terminal (McNamara) and the (north) terminal. There’s is a tram that goes to one end to another to get to your gates quickly. Great airport overall.

My last experience at Detroit Metro was amazing! I flew right through security with no problems. I didn't even have to take anything out of my bag, everything was smooth and fluent. my flight was able to take off early which meant I got to land early in Myrtle Beach. Two thumbs up!

This is a large, clean, busy airport. There are many interesting shops and food venues to visit. Plenty of comfortable seating with charging stations.
Many public places in the US have signage and announcements in English and Spanish. Interestingly, here it is English and Chinese!
The water fountain in Concourse A is my favorite feature to visit and spend some time watching and being entertained by. There is a piano in an area adjacent to the fountain that often has someone playing very relaxing music to soothe and calm the hectic traveler.
This is not a bad place to spend a layover. It would be nice if more of the city was a reflection of its airport.

This is a very modern, and very big airport. And even though there are signs everywhere instructing you where to go, I noticed people still got confused just because the airport is so big and there's so much going on.
It was quite the hike from my gate to the rental cars, even though there's a moving sidewalk. I didn't notice until later that there's a big red tram above that I might have been able to take had I known.
However, I convinced myself that walking is healthy, especially after a 4hr flight. If you have a disability, I'd look for alternatives or help.
Rental cars are outside and each company has their own shuttle. My shuttle came right away. And unlike the other parts of the country where there's a car shortage, there were plenty of cars to rent. And very little pressure to use their insurance.
