The Franklin Park Zoo houses hundreds of exotic animals on a 72-acre land in Boston, approximately a 20-minute drive from the city center. Franklin Park Zoo Tickets
The zoo guests must reserve admission tickets online and in advance, while members can check in using their member cards and valid IDs. The list below shows the ticket prices that vary based on the Franklin Park Zoo visitors’ age.

The zoo is open daily (except on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day), and working hours vary according to the season:
- From April 1 to September 30: 9 AM – 5 PM;
- From October 1 to March 31: 9 AM to 4 PM.
Note: In accordance with the city of Boston’s requirement and the Franklin Park Zoo Health Safety page, all visitors must present proof of at least one dose of vaccination.
How To Save Money on Admission

The Franklin Park Zoo admission with an EBT card is only $4 per person and applies to four people. WIC cardholders get the same discount. When purchasing tickets online, use the code LION to receive the discount.
Franklin Park Zoo Parking in a Nutshell
The Franklin Park Zoo offers free parking in three surface parking areas placed around the zoo. We listed all the locations, while the map below shows the area.
- Giraffe Entrance Parking Lot on Pierpont Road
- Zebra Entrance Parking Lot between Franklin Park Road and Blue Hill Avenue
- Parking Lot on Circuit Drive/N.Jewish War Vets Drive
The Blue Hill Avenue parking area also offers valet parking at an additional cost during events like the Boston Lights.
Accessible Parking
The zoo is handicap-accessible, and it offers a limited number of ADA parking spaces, which are also available at no cost. The most convenient option is the Giraffe Entrance lot, and we suggest that you arrive early since these spots quickly get full. Each person occupying an ADA stall has to own a disabled parking permit or placard.
Helpful Tips for Saving Time and Money
The main parking area fills up earlier than other lots, so we suggest that you head to the Rear Parking Lot at Franklin Park Zoo. Admission lines also tend to be shorter at the Giraffe entrance because fewer visitors use it.
This is especially important if you’re going to an event like Boston Lights; traffic and parking are hectic, so be sure to arrive earlier than you’ve planned and head to the Giraffe entrance. During events, valet parking is undoubtedly worth the cost.

Take an MBTA Train or Bus to the Zoo
The MBTA provides reliable and cost-effective public transportation, which is an ideal alternative to parking. The closest train station is Four Corners/Geneva, which is within a 10-minute walk of the zoo and is served by Fairmount Line. Alternatively, you can take the Orange Line to the Green Street station or one of the multiple MBTA bus lines. Several bus stations are located around the zoo, including but not limited to 14, 22, 29, 32, and 36. Rail fares vary from $2.40 to $13.25, while the MBTA local bus fare is $1.70.
