The Neal Kocurek Memorial Austin Convention Center hosts various sports and entertainment events in the heart of the city. Austin Convention Center Parking Garages

There’s over ample parking for Austin Convention Center visitors, and just the two official garages provide nearly 1,700 convenient parking spaces. Although they are perfect for any guest headed to any event, note that overnight parking is prohibited. Learn more about each Austin Convention Center parking garage below.

  • 2nd St. Parking Garage is located at 201 East 2nd St. and offers 1,000 spots just a 5-minute walk from the venue. The 10-story garage has two entrances—on Brazos Street and San Jacinto Street. The maximum height is 6’9”.
  • 5th Street Parking Garage at 601 East 5th St. is within a 3-minute walk of the convention center. The 5-level garage has hundreds of covered parking spots ideal for attendees of any event. The height restriction for oversized vehicles is 6’11”.

How Much Is Parking at Austin Convention Center?

The first 30 minutes of parking are free, while the total cost depends on the duration of your stay. See below for the complete list of the Austin Convention Center parking rates.

After entering a garage, be sure to store your ticket in a safe place; you don’t want to risk paying the $60 lost ticket fee. Also, note that the 2nd Street Garage doesn’t accept cash—pay with your credit card at one of the automated machines.

ADA Parking

The two parking garages offer accessible parking stalls near the elevators of every level. Each vehicle occupying an ADA spot has to have a disabled parking permit or placard displayed. While standard parking rates apply for most guests, disabled veterans are entitled to free parking. Look into the Accessibility page to learn more about any accessible entrance, ramp, elevator, etc. Scooter rentals are available on Level 1 of the Business Center.

Electric Vehicle Parking & EV Charging Stations

The garage on Brazos Street has 30 preferred parking spaces for hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as three electric vehicle charging stations. These spots are placed near the elevators and are obtainable on a first-come, first-served basis. Don’t hesitate to reach out to the garage parking staff if you need any assistance.

All parking facilities are close to the convention center; the walk may take up to five minutes.

Street Parking in Downtown Austin

Downtown metered parking is available on several streets around the convention center, and it’s enforced on the following days:

  • Mon-Tue: 8 AM–6 PM
  • Wed-Fri: 8 AM–12 AM
  • Saturday: 11 AM–12 AM

The cost is $2 for the first two hours, $3 for three hours of parking, and then $0.50 per hour. If you come across an available spot near the venue, be sure to read the signs carefully to avoid pricey Austin parking tickets. If searching for free parking near Austin Convention Center, you might find it on Sundays, when street parking is free.

Take MetroRail to the Convention Center

If you’re coming from Leander, Cedar Park, or North Austin, hop on MetroRail’s Red Line 550 to the Downtown Station for $3.50. It stops right next to the convention center and will make your trip more convenient and inexpensive. If you live in another neighborhood, check out the system map to plan your trip. In addition to MetroRail, several bus lines stop near the venue, and the MetroBus fare is only $1.25.
