Polar Park Parking Options
Over a dozen car parking structures are placed within a 5-minute walk of the venue, and there are almost as many lots about 10 minutes away. For a ballpark of this size, having a few thousand spots in the area is more than enough. The City of Worcester and WooSox suggest using one of the several parking garages that allow pre-booking and save a lot of your time! See the Polar Park parking map and then check out the list below to find the top five garage parking options in the area.
Preferred Parking
The most convenient way to get safe and low-cost WooSox parking is by reserving a spot in any listed Polar Park parking garage. Other parking lots have similar rates and are great alternatives, but their rates haven’t been officially displayed. Here are the top options recommended by Polar Park—the rates start at $5, and all of them allow pre-booking:
Parking Facility | Event Parking Rate | Address | Walking Distance |
Federal Plaza Garage | $5 | 570 Main Street | 7 minutes |
Pearl & Elm Garage | $5 | 20 Pearl Street | 12 minutes |
Worcester Common Underground Garage | $10 | 3 Eaton Place | 9 minutes |
Union Station Garage | $15 | 225 Franklin Street | 8 minutes |
McGrath Library Lot | $15 | 40 Salem Street | 5 minutes |
You could look into sites like ParkWhiz or SpotHero to book a spot in a nearby short-term parking area. Note that they usually charge a low booking fee and don’t cover all the city lots.
Accessible Parking at Polar Park
Handicapped parking spaces are available along Green Island Boulevard near the baseball park. Starting three hours before the start of the game, only vehicles with disabled parking permits or license plates will be able to park on the street. A visitor with such a permit can also park in a metered parking spot at no cost and without penalties. This way, any physically impaired guest will get free parking near Polar Park! Note that parking is obtainable on a first-come, first-served basis.
Useful Parking Tips
To make your game-day experience smooth and stress-free, we offer a few hot tips! Check them out and use them to save your time and money:
- Try to avoid driving through Kelley Square before events or arrive early if you have to take that route
- Don’t hesitate to use any private parking lot, but check the posted rates before entry
- If passing through the Canal District, be sure to stop for a drink or dinner
- Pre-booking a spot will save you time and possibly money and allow contactless entry
- If coming off of I-290, Worcester Common Garage and Union Station Garage are the easiest garages to locate
Non-Game Day Parking Near Polar Park
Finding a suitable spot on non-event days is much easier and more affordable. The city has been installing new parking meters, and—in addition to downtown parking lots and garages—you can park your car on a street. The time limit between 8 AM and 8 PM is two hours, and the hourly parking prices are as follows:
Duration | On-Street Parking Cost |
30 minutes | $0.50 |
1 hour | $1.00 |
1 hour 30 minutes | $1.50 |
2 hours | $2.00 |
You may use the Passport Parking app to pay or extend parking easily. Off-street garages have higher rates during the day but lower after 5 PM. Federal Plaza Garage, Pearl-Elm Street Garage, and Union Station Garage have an evening rate of only $1 on non-game days between 5 PM and 3 AM. To find a budget-friendly Worcester monthly parking space, look into off-street lots.
Transportation to the Park
Public transit is your go-to choice if you want to lower the costs and avoid the frustrating search for a convenient spot. Taking a train is the best way to avoid busy traffic, and the MBTA Framingham/Worcester line runs from Boston to Worcester. It stops at the downtown Union Station, which is an 8-minute stroll away from the ballpark. Check out the MBTA timetable and use the Trip Planner to calculate the fare for your journey. On weekends, use the Commuter Rail for $10—the weekend tickets let you travel across all zones and on all lines. Alternatively, hop on a WRTA bus that also stops at Union Station and has the standard cash fare of only $1.75.
