This is my favorite Southern CA airport! So convenient and easy. Less stressful than dealing with LAX. Just be aware of flying in late. There is a strict noise ordinance that will not allow planes to land after a certain time at night so if your flight is delayed and it is scheduled to arrive after 11pm, they may have to reroute the plane elsewhere. Also applies to takeoffs after 10pm.

John Wayne Airport truly exceeded my expectations! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the airport's cleanliness, modern design, and efficient layout. The staff were friendly, helpful, and professional, making my entire experience smooth and stress-free.
Despite being a smaller airport, it offered a good variety of dining and shopping options to keep me entertained during my layover. The ease of navigation and shorter lines made for a more relaxed atmosphere compared to larger airports.
I would highly recommend John Wayne Airport for its excellent facilities and top-notch customer service. Can't wait to fly through here again!

Medium sized airport. TSA security lines are short. Very clean areas with multiple shops to buy those last minute memorabilia. The waiting areas near the various gates are a bit small and crowded but has power outlets all over the place. One thing to note is that if you are planning any trip into Los Angeles from this airport, it will be at minimum, 1 hour from this location.

This airport was super clean and managed. Their rental drop-off is downstairs and departure is on upstairs. It took me 5 minutes after dropping off the car and heading back to airport by walking. So easy and quick. Also, the departure of the bags was super quick. They have plenty of eat and drink options at theirMarketPlace area, from Starbucks,McDonald's, CarlsJr, Qdoba,Jamba , to many other local shops.

I love the easy departures. From the 55 freeway directly to drop off. Arrivals are just as easy. A stop by Starbucks in the airport never hurts early morning.

This is my 3rd time ever flying into John Wayne Airport. It is small but big enough, but depending on where you are flying from, you will definitely have a layover. There are plenty of shops and spots to eat here. The setup to drop off and pickup is simple and not too crazy like LAX is. Overall, it was a good airport and had zero issues with bags or service.

John Wayne airport is a small airport with reasonable number of stores and restaurants but everything closes quite early. So if you're flying a red eye just be aware. Otherwise be convenient to Anaheim without having to worry about how long it might take you to get to LAX from this area especially if you're traveling to and from Disneyland. Very easy to get a rideshare just make sure to follow the signs to the pick up area which is in the parking deck.

Great airport!
This is the preferred destination to fly into the OC area. It’s clean and easy to navigate.
Plan on a faster than average path to your departing flight.
The rental car center is tucked away a little not on a subterranean level across from the terminal.

Expertly run small airport near Anaheim Ca. SNA is not open early and is not open late. TSA is quick and efficient. Parking is close by and easily accessed. Car rental is on the property with easy pick up and drop off. Not a lot of places to eat or shop, but what’s there is better than your average airport.
Best alternative to LAX.

Have three decades of experience with this airport. It has always been a pleasure regardless of departing, arriving or picking up visitors. Exceptionally well maintained, managed well with appropriate manpower for time of day and always feel safe. TSA moves quickly and there are plenty of options for refreshments while you wait for a flight. If arriving; have never experienced a problem with baggage claim and their taxi service area runs like a well oiled machine with very fair pricing. What's not to love?!

I agree with another person giving a review saying that that gates are fairly close after you get past security. My wife and I travel a lot and it's always a pleasure to fly in and out of the John Wayne Airport. Ample parking, very very clean facilities (including restrooms) and a wide variety of dining options including full meals, coffee shops, health drinks, and alcohol. Keep up the good work to all at the John Wayne Airport.

This airport was quite interesting as it was closed when I arrived for my 7am flight. As a SNA newbie I learned that residents in this area dictate air traffic control, their departure time and noise ordinance.
Did you know they force airlines to cut their engines 800 ft up for sound reduction?
Anyway, glad I don't live amongst those people, not sure I'd fly out of there again, perhaps that's there intention. 🤣

Small and quiet airport with helpful staff both indoors and outdoors of the airport, including the Uber/Lyft waiting area. Plenty of restroom areas (cleanliness was hit-or-miss) as well as a nice variety of food and small shops. Security at TSA PreCheck lines as well as gate staff are organized and orderly.

It’s a great airport small security lines, baggage lines, etc. Lots of overpriced stores. But if you are near this airport looking at flying anywhere I recommend this airport.

The airport is great. But, the security 😐 I arrived last night, around 10:30 pm, and I was the only person there! No security, no people. I felt like I was in The walking dead tv show!

This is a great airport to fly from or fly to. The parking is super close to the airport entrance. Plus the airport is right next door to the highway.
Once checked in, going through security, especially with TSA Pre is super fast.
If you fly United the gates are right by the security entrance and the United lounge is there as well.
When flying in the luggage usually arrives super fast.

Very clean and modern, at this airport things seem to move quite efficiently. Had no problem making our flight and returning the rental car. At times traffic can get thick but it seemed most drivers were very courteous. TSA were also very courteous.

This airport is very easy to pick up & also drop off people. The parking lot is easy to get into if you need to use it. We've used it for picking people up when we wanted to meet them at the baggage claim. Plus we've used the parking lot when we dropped people off because they needed help getting their luggage to the airline check in. It's also a very clean airport. If it was a little closer to my mom's house I would definitely be using this airport more often, especially over LAX.

Nice airport, shops, car rental services and nearby gas station to fill up prior to car return. Live music is awesome! There’s even a piano to play. Quiet areas at times, nice long walk along the terminal with ADA, nursing room, and pet relief areas. Plenty of artwork to see.

So for those of you that don't know TSA does not open until 5:00 a.m. so showing up before then is kind of pointless. So the ticket counters for the airlines don't show up until 4:30 a.m. to check bags. Make your own decision on when you want to arrive.

Parking and access to terminal logistically perfect. Ticketing? No Problem. TSA? Well, it’s still TSA but it’s not a long wait. I’d rather drive further to fly out of here, any day.

Really nice airport. Very clean in the terminal and bathrooms. All of the staff is friendly and helpful. This is my favorite airport to fly in Southern California. It is close to everything. Not crowded as other airports.

Great airport, with almost no queues anywhere at all. The Hertz car rental at the airport was amazing too. The airport is easily walkable end to end, and has a food court and many other small stores. We saw a bar and Starbucks too that weren't too busy.
Would recommend if you're flying to/from the area, and want a quieter airport than LAX!

Really nice airport, rental car is attached to airport. Returned rental and walk to terminal in 5 minutes. Great food. Not as busy as LAX

Excellent airport. Hardly any wait time at the security line. It’s a breeze through. Very clean. Lot of good eating options throughout the terminal. All amenities & a very convenient airport. No hassle.

I've flown in and out of John Wayne Airport many times. Very easy to access and navigate through. The TSA checkpoint usually moves quickly and without delay. If you are picking up or dropping off passengers it's very easy to navigate through but can get a bit heavy on traffic at times but nothing like LAX.

John Wayne Airport is a clean, efficient, and easy-to-navigate airport. Security lines are usually short, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Parking is convenient, and the proximity to the beach and nearby attractions makes it a great choice for Southern California travelers. Overall, a hassle-free and pleasant experience!

This is the first time that I have flown from John Wayne and I loved it! First, airfare was about half the cost of flying from Ontario and LAX! The airport is easy to get to. Parking was very easy with the lot right next to the terminal. The kiosks made printing boarding passes and luggage tags very easy. And, finally, there was not one person in line on front of us at the security screening. I think John Wayne will forever be my preferred airport to travel from!

We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the airport. It was much larger than we thought. The airport was nice and convenient full of shops and restaurants. It was easy finding our rental car which was directly on the airport property. It was easy finding the airport on our return visit from Huntington Beach and the LA area. TSA airport screening was quick and easy. It was a busy Friday evening but we made in through in about 20 minutes.

Used this airport 🛫 couple of times, it's nice airport very clean and small!! Which makes traveling very easy.
Couple of things need to be careful of, which I believe it's everywhere is the TSA line as it's a small airport it gets really packed easy so if you are running late you need to keep that in mind, they only have TSA pre but not Clear which is another thing you need to keep in mind.
And for airport lounges they only have 1 lounge in terminal B, and lots of restaurants!
But honestly overall very nice and clean airport.

The TSA at in airport is very helpful and get you through really quickly. They are starting to expand their food options with a variety of different places. I found the bathrooms always to be clean and to have more than enough stalls. Recently, I’ve seen a good amount of delays so thank goodness there are a good places to eat.

I have great experience every time of traveling to Orange County through this international airport. It is a bit smaller but because of that there are not very many people. Going through security usually takes just a few minutes; sometimes no line at all! The facility is very clean. This is absolutely the number one choice for people traveling to OC.

I have flown in and out of this airport many times. Always an easy process. I did have one TSA agent one time that was a total doosh, but other than that, it has been a good experience.
I have also dropped off and picked up friends and family flying in and out.
I really like the "cell phone waiting lot". It makes picking up really easy.
I also enjoy the exit lane that dumps you right onto the freeway. Well thought out and I appreciate that.

Only 10 minutes from my home. Airport is small but very efficient. From the time my husband dropped me off at the curbside to getting through the TSA security, only took me 10 minutes. There are some eateries inside this airport, including California Pizza Kitchen, Coffee Bean, McDonald's, but they were very crowded. My Air Canada flight was at 2pm, so it was about lunch time when I arrived at the terminal.

My experience at this airport is phenomenal. Picking up and dropping off is always a great experience. The cleaning staff works extra hard to keep the places extra clean and organized. I've picked up at LAX and LBA but this airport is superior to those 2 airports.

Easy access parking. Right to terminal B from parking and quick across the street to inside. Easy setup to Alaska airlines window. TSA pre check was simple check-in and just scan id and no bodyscan. Place your bags to be scanned and walk through. Everyone was friendly.

John Wayne Airport is an airport in Orange County, California. The name was Orange County Airport when it opened in 1923, but the name was changed to the current name John Wayne Airport in 1979 when John Wayne, the godfather of the Western, died.
Since a new terminal was built and expanded in 2011, the airport facilities are quite good, and it is the closest airport to downtown Anaheim and Disneyland, so it is a condition that can distribute traffic from Los Angeles International Airport, but the runway is cooperative The body is too short to float, and the airport is surrounded by buildings, so it is impossible to expand, so there are not many routes in service despite the location conditions.

One of the Best airports I’ve been to! This was my first time ever in California and I arrived at night and the car I had rented was ready for me as soon as I grabbed my luggage.
The distance from the Airport to the parking lot is incredibly close and it’s not overcrowded (Day or Night) like other very busy airports.
On the return back which was during the day, I explored the shops and restaurants- so much selection that I spent enough time wandering the airport and then my flight started boarding.
Definitely one of the best airports around! John Wayne!

Very nice airport. I have traveled quite a bit and this one is always pretty clean and not too busy. Getting through security isn't too bad and I love that it is a smaller airport. ALSO parking is convenient too. Highly recommend coming here instead of going to LAX or the SD airport

This is the place to fly in and out if you're going to Disneyland or anywhere in the Anaheim area.
Small and functional airport, easy to get in and out of. No big line ups. Compared to LAX it was a dream flying in with my family and the drive to our resort was faster than coming from LA especially if it is rush hour.
Next time you're booking a flight into LA, have a look here, obviously your options will be less but if you can find something that works out its a much more pleasant trip.

First time flying out of this airport. It has its own designated exit from the 405. Such a efficient small airport. I like how the gates are pretty close to security. No hassle and it's very clean and very good shops and brand restaurants that deliver to your gate. Will definitely be flying out of this airport again!

I like this airport. Cleaner and newer feel...but not that new. I remember when this was a "dirt road" airport back in the 70's/80's. I had to walk to my plane and it was nothing but rural feel. But now it grew into a beautiful large clean well run airport. So much better than LAX!

Relatively efficient airport. Nice and clean and not too big. Even so some of the gates seem to be fairly far from restrooms.
A bit more exciting fly out of this airport since they have to get higher faster due to some city ordinances.

It's a very convenient and small airport in the area!
I like the fact that I can go through the security fairly quickly and they are nice too!
I used it when I went to CA from TX and from CA to TX! Very smooth transaction! Recommended! :)

This hidden gem of an airport is the perfect way to get to Anaheim and back. Although it is quite a distance from LAX the airport is small, very clean, no delays in takeoff, and fast baggage claim. TSA lines move fairlly quickly.
Ground transportation right outside the front door. Flew Southwest so I was in and out of terminal C. Was an easy walk without the hustle and bustle. Definitely the closest airport to Disneyland, Costa Mesa, and the beaches.

This is a really nice airport and is centrally located with most of the attractions Orange County has to offer in close proximity. It is extremely organized which makes drop off and pick ups very easy. It is beautiful and spacious on the inside and the staff are pleasant and very efficient. You can shop and grab something to eat while you wait for your flight or if you are just arriving. You will definitely enjoy your trip.
