This airport was incredibly busy. The terminal seating is extremely limited compared to the size of the planes and it is very very crowded all the time. The bathrooms are clean and there's plenty of places to get snacks and eat. All of the staff is very courteous and professional.

Boy oh boy! This place has outgrown itself . As soon as I got in I saw big crowds and construction. It may have to do with time of the day and the day. I am here on Sunday around 2pm. Big lines to the bathrooms that are too small. I should have used it at the Admirals Club but it has a funky smell so I left. Bathroom at the airport has bags with trash piled up. I heard one of the airport employees say that they are understaffed . They have interesting murals that I enjoyed. The airport is under construction and the TSA is very very slow , as in one minute plus per checking on a bag . My recommendation: bring a snack so you only need to buy water, allow a bit of extra time , around 2 hrs before domestic flight or so. Once again it maybe a single occurrence. And yes self - check out “place item” scale did not work , just bring what you need :-) and hope that it will be faster than it is for me . I am here on time and I got here about 1hr 45 mins prior to my flight. I just didn’t line up to buy anything to avoid crowds. Safe and happy traveling !

This airport is under construction like every other one on earth. Unlike most it is still easy to navigate with adequate signs and information areas. One nice bonus is the information desk right next to the security checkpoint. Most important the bathrooms are kept clean and the staff are kind and helpful. The rocking chairs are also super comfortable and a nice touch.

I used this airport quite a few times for departure, arrival and transit. This is one of the largest airports of the USA, nonetheless I had to walk a lot while in transit this time and I was about to miss my connecting flight. It was good that I was in a group of travelers of more than 20 persons, the flight made delay for few minutes for us. Very nice airport having a lot of shops snd restaurants. Very well-maintained and nicely decorated airport. The downtown and hotel areas are not too far. Staffs were friendly. Outside of the airport is also good.

Really nice and easy airport to go in and out of. I really love the estimates to reach all the different terminals that all the signs have.

The people working here are pretty nice and easy-going. The American Airlines desk here has trouble with organization and staffing. Since this is predominantly an AA airport, that's kind of disgusting.

Some shops open up here earlier than advertised. Definitely my top mid-sized American airport.

Charlotte Airport is a lovely airport although it is in a perpetual state of construction. Big airport and plenty of options for good food. Lots of lines here on a Saturday afternoon. My advice for flying in is to tell your ride to pick you up at the departures instead of arrivals... much less traffic at departures and much easier of an exit. I'll post an update when we leave Charlotte.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport is a nice airport that serves its purpose well. While it may not have the same level of modernity and amenities as some other airports, it still offers a pleasant travel experience. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the airport is generally well-maintained.

The signage is clear, making it easy to navigate around the terminals. Although the dining and shopping options may be more limited compared to larger airports, there are still decent choices available to satisfy hunger or pick up last-minute essentials.

Overall, Charlotte Douglas International Airport provides a comfortable and efficient travel experience, making it a convenient gateway for air travel in the region.

Very nice and small airport. I came back after 6 years. It’s changed a lot and the interior looks very rich, bright and pleasing. Almost like Dubai or something. A little congested but fine.

One of my favorite airport to fly into. Their terminals have so much space, it never feels crowded. I love the rocking chairs they have. They have the best variety of food spots to pick from. Their restrooms are always well maintained.

Considered American Airlines second-largest hub in the U.S., it was my first time to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) last Thursday on my way to South Bend. With 1.8 million square feet, it’s big and bright, centered around a single terminal building as the heart of the airport, connecting travelers to five concourses, A through E, for both domestic and international flights through 114 gates. There's more than a variety of restaurants, stores, bars, and entertainment. From Gate A to Gate E, it was about a 16-minute walk. Despite its bustling nature, the airport maintained a sense of calm and order, with clear signage and helpful staff ensuring a smooth flow of passengers. Unfortunately, throughout the entire airport, seating can be a premium. Overall, it’s a good airport for connecting flights.

Possibly one of the airports I ever flew in that offers comfort and good food courts to passengers with long layovers. Between terminal B and C there’s a huge area where people can find rocking chairs and tables to sit while enjoying food. The downside here is the narrow halls for gates, it can get super crowded during rush hours, to a point you can barely walk without knocking people over.

Brought my daughter to charlotte airport so she can take a "unaccompanied minor flight" so she can go to NY for the summer to see her mother. The flight attendants were very helpful and professional. It didn't take long for my daughter to take off an land in NY the kids were the 1st ones on the plane an then last off the plane.

The ambiance is excellent and always makes my layovers here more enjoyable. There are rocking chairs under a row of trees, rocking chairs on the 2nd floor of the atrium looking out the large windows, and live music (pianist).

I only pass through for layovers, so I cant speak to the security process. Gates are well labeled, and I appreciate the variety of shops.

Cool airport. Looks like a bid shopping mall lol. Very spacious, and very well organized and maintained.

Lots of shops and restaurants to choose from. Most of the stores open up around 6 am.

There is a USO for the military folks!

We were there for a connecting flight to Jacksonville, Florida. We had to walk from terminal C to A, and it didn’t take more than 10 minutes.

Despite being a crowded airport the flow of traffic is very smooth. It has a couple of good food stalls and the rest rooms are well maintained and clean.

I enjoyed the rocking chairs line up in the Atrium, its comfortable and I managed to get some much needed shut eye

One of the nicest and smoothest running airports you'll visit. There's more than a variety of restaurants, bars and entertainment. As most airports prices are inflated as far as shopping goes. The signage is easy to follow and get from terminal to terminal.

This airport is the greatest one I have ever stepped foot in. The sheer amount of restaurants and stores rivals that of the largest in the nation, while still having a deep commitment to customer service. Every member of security and the flight team were some of the most wonderful people I have ever met. The waiting areas were luxurious and comfortable. I would live here permanently if I could. My experience here has forever changed me and made me a better man. Every time I fly, I will fly from this airport.

Even though I've actually arrived and left from Charlotte, I've had multiple layovers here, and it's one of my favorite airports to be forced to spend a layover at. There are many of food options and rotating art displays in the Atrium, the central area of the airport, along with a long row of comfortable rocking rockers. I think this airport is more charming than others, and I adore the original artwork that is shown in each terminal. There isn't another airport I would prefer be forced to spend a stopover at, though I can't comment to the accessibility of the public transportation system or navigating security.

This review is coming from someone who had a 9 hour layover here, so I got to know a lot about this airport. It’s a really beautiful airport honestly, I love the trees and natural lighting that were incorporated in this airport. It’s very peaceful if you need to relax, or if you need to sleep. This airport is good for that too with there minute suites located in the central part of the airport. The airport has some nice food, and friendly people. Not a bad place for a long layover.

Been traveling through this airport a good number of times now, and here are my observations:

Size & Terminals : decent size, with A-E gates sections clearly separated and labeled.

Amenities: self service areas, pet relief area, chocolate stores, coffee shops, limited selection of restaurants and various, lots of rocking chairs spread throughout but always occupied.

Services overall is adequate.

USO: one of the busiest, always packed.

Priority club: located right before A21, not too small, fairly clean, full bar service…BUT, foods here are not good at all. After stopped by here a good number of times, the food selections never changes: simple salad section, 2 desserts, nan bread + taziki sauce, hot foods has always been soup, rice and beans, never changed. And there is always a long wait list.

This is definitely a busy international airport. But going through customs is not too bad, compare to many other large airports custom process time, here is not super lengthy.

Love this airport! Much less hectic then Atlanta and Seattle. Do a bit of construction, but it's not bad. And traffic flows smoothly. TSA moved fast. Was able to go outside and get fresh air on my layover.

Short trip here. Airport seemed warm to me but it could have been from all the construction going on. Got through the airport ok. A little confusing coming back through to leave. Hard to navigate to the upper floor to get to departures. But overall not too bad. Avis customer service was spot on. Nice people overall.

Airport is so nice and big. It is an international airport. American airlines runs large number of flights from here. Airport is so crowded and the airport is very clean and good. American Airlines runs the small flights which has seating of approximately 50 the flight is conjusted and it have to be improved. Airport has shopping, restaurants, coffee shops, starbucks, dunkin, bars and soon. Airport has many gates so we have to check the gate number on the display to check correct gate number where will be depature/arrival of flight. Because sometimes gate numbers will be changed by airlines. Airport has wifi but it have to be improved. Washrooms are very neat and clean. Large space and chairs for sitting.

The airport is really nice in terms of food options. The restrooms are very clean and well maintained. Only problem is that space is very less in front of the gates. Most of the people were sitting on the floor. Not enough charging points. Requires a bit of face lift.

Really nice airport.

Lots of signs with helpful information like how long your walk is to each section. Lots of food options available during your wait. Airport staff is friendly and helpful. There is also some shopping available. The terminals are easy to navigate and not confusing. Lots of flights going in and out of this airport. Not a bad airport for a layover.

Airport expansion construction underway but still a great airport to travel through. It has tons of convenient upgrades to make your travel smooth and comfortable. My favorite is the large gate area seats that are super comfortable and have built-in wireless charging on the armrests and 110 outlets underneath. No need to search for a charging station for your devices.

What a great airport — easy with all the necessities covered. Can’t tell you how many times I have gotten to an airport super early with no food or beverages. I got in at 7am to a beautiful sunrise and kicked back with a toasted bagel and a cup of coffee and a rocking chair.

Not a bad airport..I like the set up and it's laid out nice. They have lots of food options tho not many chain restaurants which usually do have better prices. I appreciate that they have a lot of directories thru out that help you know the options and how to navigate the airport. It is a bigger airport so definitely give yourself a little time to get to your gate.

I thought it was a really nice airport with a million restaurant and shopping options to choose from. Sure, Concourse E is basically a construction zone, but in order to have nice, modern amenities, there must be construction first🙂 All restaurants, shops, and gates are still open during the construction so it's not a concern at all.

I wandered around the airport a bit, checking out the other concourses, and everywhere seemed very clean with large open spaces, similar to other modern airports I've been to in the US.

Other reviews seem a bit harsh about the construction, but I say way to go Charlotte for improving and modernizing your airport! 5 🌟!!

Charlotte Airport : Ohh gosh

Crowded crowed crowded all the time….. Zero planning when it was designed, passengers are literally hit each other when they are trying to Catch their flights. Runway are also some time lined up with planes IN and OUT of the Airport.

The plaza near entrance of E terminal are new nicely designed.

During my last few layover to this Airport I did see some expansion as departure area actually making bigger and wider which is in positive side. About the Airport.

Car rental across the walkway are new and nicely well organised. impressive.

Charlotte Douglas is a huge airport in Charlotte, NC. They have lots of signs to let you know where to go! There is even a cell phone lot so you can wait to pick up a passenger without paying for the hourly parking if you want! The hourly parking is $8 an hour. You can make a reservation for Daily parking if needed as well as long term parking. There is a easy to navigate app that can be installed on a smart phone.

The airport is beautiful with many restaurants, plenty of seating, shops and even a long row of rocking chairs in the main common area to enjoy! There are 5 wings A through E. This is a very busy airport since itnis an international one, but it is easy to navigate!

Excellent place with easy access. We enjoyed the family room with a bunch of snacks. Staff was friendly and excited for us to use the family room. The USO was right in the middle.of the airport on second level. The convenience and wonderful spread of snacks, bagels, and drinks made our family feel very special. In my view thus is the model location and bravo to Charlotte and North Carolina for stepping up and providing our military community VIP treatment. BRAVO to USO, their staff, and Charlotte Airport.

Great airport. We were stopping over here on our way from Tampa to Munich and we were surprised how close everything is. Our connecting time was 54 minutes and we were more than certain that we wouldn’t make it. Big surprise - connecting was no problem as everything is so close and nearby. The airport was a bit packed so be prepared for huge masses of people rushing through. If this doesn’t bother you, a great airport to be using for your travels.

If someone blindfolded you and walked you into the terminal, you'd swear you were in an Upscale mall. Loved it! And since I'm a foodie, definitely loved the food court and restaurant options. Two thumbs up to the gentleman at Carolina Pit BBQ for recommending the Chopped BBQ Chicken. It was Excellent!

One of the nicest airports I've been to. I had an 8 1/2 hour layover and it was great. Awesome places to eat with something for everyone! I sat in the white rocking chairs and watched people walking by and listened to this nice gentleman play the piano! It made a very long trip enjoyable!

Amazing Airport! If you get stuck here, be sure to look upstairs between the D and the lounges for the prayer chapel and wonderful rocking chairs. I even took a nap here and it was great! The American Express centurion lounge is amazing with wonderful staff. They had great food and because our flight was delayed allowed us to come in multiple times. We arrived at 8 AM for an 11 AM flight and family left at 6 PM. However, we found excellent eating choices in the plaza. I recommend going there.

It was my first time making a connecting flight through this air port. My mother had a wheel chair . 3/5/2021 We had a Jamaican fellow named Howard ( who I ran into on my way back through the following evening 3/6/2021) who took Mom around in her wheel chair. very personable and very nice fellow . We talked about Bob Marley ( I am a musician) seems like he enjoys what he does. It's said the quality of a business is only as good as the people who represent it. If everyone else is even half as good as Howard, this place should always get five stars. Please if you read this, please say hello to Howard for me. The Charlotte airport is one of the busiest American Airlines hubs in the US. This airport is quite long, and unfortunately there are no good transportation systems besides moving walkways to get between terminals.

As always, the airport is packed. One of the nice things though is that they have many different food choices if you get hungry. For example, they have a main food hall right in the center of the terminal with several fast food chains. If you walk a little further down to terminal D, there’s another full fast food hall that also includes Shake Shack.

For those looking to relax and a lounge, there are two Minute Suites locations (one in the center of the airport by the main food court, one near terminal D). Both of these fill up quite fast, so it is very important to go there as soon as possible and get a quiet room to relax.

Right now, only one American Airlines lounge is open in terminal B. This is an extremely small lounge, and to get in, you have to wait in a line outside. The reason for this mass congestion is that the main lounge located between terminals D & C is currently under renovation. This lounge is the massive one that can easily seat several hundred people without feeling overcrowded.

Overall, I like this airport in terms of the amenities, but if there was someway to solve the congestion within the airport itself, that would make this even better.

Standard airport international airport. I would say fairly large has plenty restaurants, even gift shops. New stands your typical things that also has the express walkways inside that help you get to where you need to get to faster. Well lit decent decorations, large signs so you can find your gates. Everything seems to be in english. They even also have a shoe shine stand if that's what you need

This is a really good airport, another one of American Airlines' major hubs. The food is really good here, with plenty of delicious options to choose from. This airport can be pretty difficult to navigate at times, but theirs plenty of maps and helpful staff to get you where you need to go. The E concourse is under construction currently and doesn't look the best, but there is still the same stuff there always was.

This is an amazing airport. Very very busy. They have so many places to eat and even with in the gates areas. It is an American Airline hub. Chairs have wireless charging although at the time it didn’t work. I have never seen that in an airport anywhere in the world. They have seniors volunteering at the airport should you need or get lost. So in summary it is a good place for a layover.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport has everything you need to be prepared for a nice flight. The retail shops and restaurant options are exceptional. There are many bars, fudge, deli, and coffee shops. There is a shoe shine booth, currency exchange, mother's room, pet room and more. The only flaw I found was in the cleanliness of the restrooms.

Charlotte Douglas Airport impressed! The rocking chairs were a delightful touch, and the overall newness of the facilities made the layover enjoyable. Everything, from the rocking chairs to the bathrooms, sparkled with cleanliness. Be warned though, this airport bustles! During peak hours, finding a seat at a restaurant or grabbing a spot in the lounge proved challenging.

This report was incredibly busy. The terminal seating is extremely limited compared to the size of the planes and it is very very crowded all the time. The bathrooms are clean and there's plenty of places to get snacks and eat. All of the staff is very courteous and professional.

Very easy to get around. Almost like a mall atmosphere with directions instead of telling you where the stores are also including where your gates and terminals are as well. No complaints. For a small short layover I was able to get something tasty to eat and drink and if I really wanted to I could have had any nice mixed drink or two. Bathrooms were easy to find and clean. I have no complaints.

Charlotte Airport is huge!! This airport is lovely, my only complaint is some of the airline staff could be a little friendlier. TSA was great and did their job with professionalism: The airport itself has so many restaurants, stores, nap pods, and many other things to explore. As a Dog Mama, I really loved the but relief rooms. Anyone looking to get a beer or glass of wine - no worries Charlotte Douglass International Airport has all your needs covered!! Download their app for map and other information regarding all your flight needs.

Very nice airport that is local to me but infrequently visited. Of the times I’ve been here, I’ve been impressed with the wide variety of food options and retail stores. There are many designer stores as well. It’s like a mall inside of an airport.

The restrooms are clean and well maintained.

If you’ve never been here, just a heads up that it’s a big airport. Lots of walking required from concourse to concourse. As is always the case with travel, wear not just comfortable clothes but also comfy shoes.

The Charlotte Douglas International Airport is not one of the super large mega airports, but is large enough to provide great service and to be very accommodating. The floors are clean and the bathrooms were very nice. We found this an easy airport to navigate with lots of signs and large monitors available all over. The staff was also accommodating and friendly making the experience very positive.

Passing through Charlotte Douglas International Airport on my way to Birmingham, Alabama, and what a busy airport as always. There is a lot here from.shopling, seating, and relaxing. From Gate B to Gate E, it is about a 14-minute walk if you crush it. When I traveled it was nighttime so a lot of shops and restaurants were already closed. This, the airport needs a but of a renovation as well. The carpets look like they are from 1980. There were not many charhers either by the seats waiting for the flights. This airport is always packed, so if you are connecting, get ready to move to your next location as there is no tram or shuttle between gates.

Charlotte’s airport is a sprawling affair with plenty of ground to cover if you’re connecting between flights. It’s a few decades behind on design but newer parts of the structure make for a nice “reveal” if you are traveling through one of them. From old school sconce lights to boring 1990s tile on the floor, this place is stuck in a variety of eras and you’ll see some of that in my photos. The American club is a highlight for sure and seems reasonably updated and kept, despite how busy it is!

A jaunt from any gate to any other should take under 15 minutes in 90%+ of cases.

Of course the facility acts as a hub for American so you’re likely to come through here at some point if you travel with this airline. A bit of the delightfully modern end of terminal D is included in my photo set. Will upload more from the other areas next time I visit.

Why 5 stars? The airport seamlessly achieves what it sets out to achieve and without much fuss. It’s not a glowing review, but I’ve seen much worse and left lower rankings accordingly. Maybe it’s no stunner but it’s also no slouch.

By far one of the cleanest, quickest and seamless airport services and facilities. I arrived and departed from Charlotte Douglas Airport twice in the last 5 days and the experience was nothing short of seamless and efficient (although there’s massive construction going on and the entire layoff is changed currently). The airport is spotlessly spic and span, the stores are quick to check in and move out and the lines at security as well as ticket counters is quick and professional. All in all a good airport.
