Top Points to Consider
When choosing a parking option, consider the following key points:
Cost vs. Convenience: Weigh the cost of parking against the convenience of location and shuttle services. Sometimes, paying a little more for on-site parking can save you time and stress.
Security: Ensure that the parking facility has adequate security measures in place, such as surveillance cameras and well-lit areas.
Shuttle Service: Check the frequency and reliability of shuttle services. A longer wait time can add unnecessary stress to your travel plans.
Booking in Advance: If possible, book your parking in advance to secure your spot, especially during peak travel seasons.
Read Reviews: Look for recent reviews from other travelers to gauge the quality of service and overall experience at the parking facility.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. How early should I arrive for parking at the airport?
It is recommended to arrive at least 2-3 hours before your flight, especially during busy travel periods, to allow ample time for parking and shuttle transfer.
2. Can I reserve a parking spot in advance?
Many parking facilities allow you to reserve a spot online, which is highly recommended during peak travel times to ensure availability.
3. What should I do if I lose my parking ticket?
If you lose your ticket, contact the parking facility's customer service immediately. They may require identification and vehicle details to assist you.
4. Are there any discounts available for long-term parking?
Some facilities offer discounts for long-term parking or online bookings. Be sure to check their websites for any current promotions.
Conclusion
Choosing the right parking option near John Wayne Airport can significantly impact your travel experience. By considering factors such as cost, convenience, security, and shuttle services, you can make an informed decision that suits your needs. Whether you opt for hotel parking, airport facilities, or nearby alternatives, planning ahead will ensure a smoother journey. Safe travels!
The exterior of the hotel looks dated, but overall, they have done a nice job keeping the inside updated.
Little weird that their shuttle is done through lyft. It works just not something I am used to, and I am sure it impacts consistency. Also, they are willing to get you a lyft to the airport at any time even though the website says 6am to 10pm.
Easy place to stay next to the airport.

The location is great. You're right next to the freeway so it's easy to jump onto a major freeway. You can't hear the street noise though so that's nice. You're also walking distance to several restaurants. Rooms are nice as well, but what's up with the no vents in the bathrooms? It gets so hot and steamy it's terrible! The room and hotel are very nice. Highly disliked the fact that you have to pay for parking daily. That was a major bummer. Although they are very pet friendly and I loved that. They even have doggy bags and lots of walking areas around the hotel. I also loved the security fact. You have to scan a key card in order to go up to the floor levels which made me feel safer.

Not only was this a lovely place to stay and take a training course, the location was really convenient both for short walks and for sightseeing. Most importantly the staff was lovely, especially Addie who greeted us and made us feel welcome after having had two very difficult days of travel. Her high level of kindness turned things around for us and the rest of our stay in California seemed to flow from that positive energy! Thanks!

Great hotel, close to John Wayne Airport and close to the freeway. The room was nice, bed was comfortable. Parking garage attached to the hotel. The only downside for the stay was the pool was undergoing renovations. There is an attached restaurant but we didn't eat there.

Hotel Zessa Santa Ana has a lot going for it, but it falls short of expectations considering the price and the DoubleTree brand’s reputation. The property has clearly undergone recent renovations, and overall, the look is modern and appealing. However, I did notice small details that were missed during the update—like minor paint splatters on door frames and trim. These cosmetic issues aren’t deal-breakers but do detract from the upscale experience they aim to provide.
The beds were another downside for me. They’re on the firmer side, and despite calling ahead to inquire, I was told they don’t offer mattress toppers. I found this surprising given the hotel’s level and the price per night. For guests who need a softer sleeping surface, this might be a significant drawback.
The on-site restaurant offers decent food, but it is quite expensive, even for a hotel. While I don’t mind paying for quality, the pricing seemed a bit high for what was offered.
Lastly, the staff were generally friendly, but I had an odd interaction over the phone before my stay that felt less welcoming than expected. Overall, it’s a good hotel but could benefit from small improvements to fully meet the expectations set by its brand and price.

Check-in with Tanisha was outstanding! Tanisha is professional, has excellent customer service, and is patient when I stepped out of the line to charge my phone. She is welcoming and an exceptional addition to the Double Tree team.
My room was clean, spacious, and in order, however, there was very, very little lotion and no body wash. The sink also needs cleaning to remove the stuck-on calcium buildup.
I love the electric art and welcome screen in the lobby. Plus the delicious cookies and two bottles of water! Thank you for the great accommodations.

The rooms were smaller than expected. Maybe it was how the picture on the website is angled, or maybe it's just me. Either way, the views are awesome. Didn't shut my blinds once. The night guy we checked in with was a tad rude. He wasn't busy but made it seem like us checking in was holding him back from something. The morning staff is very friendly and nice. No gift shop even though there's signs for it. It's not a big deal, but I do love gift shops.

I stayed at the Santa Ana - Orange County DoubleTree for one week from August 21 - 26. The location is nice, upscale. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Neither the bathroom sink nor the tub were clogged or slow to drain. I hate it when that happens. I enjoyed breakfast at the hotel every morning and one dinner meal. The menus had a variety of items and all the servers were very attentive, friendly and their service was awesome. I travel a lot for work and this was one of the nicer hotels I've stayed in.

We stay here everytime we go to Huntington, Laguna, etc. Found it on Priceline but made a mistake. Cancelled and ended up going straight through the hotel. Got a better price and an upgrade when we go there. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was excellent. The only bummer was I purchased a room that included breakfast but because there weren’t enough guests we didn’t get the buffet and ended up having to spend $90 on breakfast at their restaurant the next day. We’ve been there June, July and August. Hopefully one more time before the summer ends.

I love this hotel + the location! Me and my kids stayed here during a trip to Cali for a basketball tournament. The rooms + the entire building was clean, tidy and up to date. The staff was sweet from the front desk to the room services workers. Breakfast is not free, but affordable and taste great. No pool but about 30 mins from the beach. The stay was affordable but parking is $27 per day in their underground parking garage. Location is near restaurants, Starbucks, gas stations.. everything + they have a restaurant in the hotel that is good. I will stay here again and again.
Oh let’s not forget the free Double Tree Cookies was my favorite part !

GREAT staff of friendly people! This is a very nice and beautiful hotel and recently went through renovations. The rooms are super comfy and nicely decorated. We stayed longer than originally planned and the staff (Feb 20-23) was incredible. Oscar is the best and I wish I had kept all their names to thank them personally.

Place feels dated. Carpets are little worn. Overall clean but interior needs remodel and freshening up.
Front office and other staff I ran into all were polite and friendly.
It's close SNA and for shopping there is South Coast. Beaches are 30 minutes away. Right on and off the freeway is good.

Everything was absolutely perfect! From the front desk staff very friendly and professional, our suite was fantastic! We stayed in suite 223, it was immaculately clean! All the sheets had that crisp fresh clean scent! The 1 bedroom suite also has two bedrooms! Genius! The breakfast buffet one of the best we’ve ever experienced great food, friendly and accommodating staff, parking was a bit tight on Saturday night but otherwise everything exceeded our expectations! 💖 We are very picky! The management at this property knows service excellence! Congratulations not easy to accomplish post pandemic! Amazing experience we will definitely be back!

Although tight in and out to the underground parking garage, if you take a ticket and press the help button on the way out, most of the time they will just open the gate and out you go, for free!! Great staff!! Good location but high traffic area, little far away for Disneyland or Knotts Berry Farm. Yet, if you are coming to the OC to just vacation and would rather be close to the beach and shopping, this location is a great choice!!

The family and I stayed here just for one night but the experience wasn’t as bad as some of the previous reviewers claimed. Unfortunately I don’t have many pictures on my phone but The location was pretty quiet and had nice view of planes taking off from the air port much to my kid’s excitement. The room itself was nice, clean. Shower control was little confusing at first but after an unintentional ice cold rinse, got the warm water flowing. The staff at front office were very helpful and even gave recommendations on close by restaurants since the one in hotel was closed for the night. Had breakfast there and was quite good but coffee was little too strong for my own personal taste. Only three cons about and first is the elevators. It works but gave a loud squeak at lobby floor as slowing down, and having people in it among the luggage cart, it doesn’t give you lot of elbow space. Second con is actually the underground parking. It’s really a narrow entrance at a angle so if you have larger SUV, van or truck, it’s going to be tight squeeze. Lastly is you need your room card-key to exit the garage so it’s best to move vehicle before checking out; I didn’t know this but thankfully I only had to wait maybe a minute for another person to leave and I was able to get out.
Bottom line; decent hotel and will go again if ever in area.

Hilton Honors members are honored and the hotel is considerate of its guests. The location is good and close to many sites near Orange County. Alex at check-in was very hospitable, professional, and understanding. I had a positive impression of my stay here.

The Good: The staff was pleasant and helpful. The restaurant was actually pretty good for the money. I ate there several times for both dinner and breakfast. The location is quite good, but be aware of GPS navigation. It has you do some odd turns. The room was clean and roomy enough. The bathroom is showing its age and there are hard water issues, but I never felt unclean or found the water distasteful when brushing. Room service was great.
The Bad: I chose a room when I checked in online, but someone decided to stay, and I lost the room. I was given the next room over which was fine, but it would have been better if I was given more options to choose from. Also, the room I was given wasn't ready when I arrived. The hotel handled it by giving me a couple breakfast vouchers which was okay. However, the bad part is that the room I was given didn't have properly functioning AC. It kind of worked, but wouldn't let me choose a temperature I wanted. There was no microwave in the room. I imagine you may be able to request one, but not sure. The parking is $27 a night, but the gate in and out was a bit fickle to get to work properly. Finally, the digital key really struggled to work properly. I ended up having to use my card every time.
The Ugly: Nothing was so terrible it would prevent me from staying here again.
5/19/2023 Edit: I stayed here a second time and was upgraded to a suite (see new pictures) and it was in better shape than the previous room, but the curtains didn't close completely shut, and there was light bleeding in under the door. Minor nuisances, but I'm very sensitive to light when sleeping, and others may find it perfectly fine. I also had random authorizations every day of my stay. I brought this up to the desk folks and they said it was fine and normal. I've been traveling the world to Hilton properties both in big cities and tiny towns for 9 years and never experienced this, so I was a little concerned. Thankfully, my bill was accurate at checkout. The digital key still struggles to work, so I recommend a physical key as back up. I'll be staying again next week, and I'll leave another update, good or bad.

I personally was blown away at this hotel. It’s beautiful, with a VERY comfortable bed. The staff is friendly. They welcomed my daughter and I with a complementary cold water and warm cookie. I saw some complaints recently about the elevator and room service. The elevator is operating now, and the staff does inform us upon check in that room service is by request only. (I personally don’t like room service anyway. I don’t go in and clean my house every other day, so I think I’m okay going a weekend without them cleaning after me.) my only complaint would be that there’s no microwave in the room. I know there’s a cafe in the lobby but I’m not here on vacation, and I just can’t afford to order food on top of all the travel expenses. I bring my own food for these trips. It was unfortunate but if you don’t need a microwave then I’d say you’ll love this place.

Stayed the night and the room was very cozy and clean. The best part of the stay was the young lady working at the kitchen/bar. Her name is Liu and her service was excellent. She made sure we were taken care of and happy with service. A genuine smile and laughter. Parking was tough though. Overall excellent experience

Nice hotel but missing common amenities that most hotels have. The hotel itself is clean, staff is friendly and accommodating. Interior decorating is aesthetically pleasing. Rooms don’t have microwaves, the fridge is hidden in a cabinet under the tv that you have to open the cabinet to get to the microwave. If you are traveling for business and need to print something out, there is no office room with printer but the staff will let you email them and they can print out for you.

Hotel was not as bad as I thought it would be based on some of the reviews I read.
Pros: Room was surprisingly quiet even on the street-facing side. Was not bothered by cars, and the blackout curtains worked great.
Staff was awesome
Bed and pillows were very comfortable
Dispensers for all toiletries
Cons:
One of the two bath towels the room came with was filthy. Easily fixed, but pretty gross
No direct access to parking from the main elevator, which wasn't very convenient. Not the end of the world though.
No fan in the bathroom = a short hot shower fogged up the entire room.
Parking is expensive, but I knew that going in.
Location was great. Didn't use any of the amenities except for the restaurant, which had a nice continental breakfast. It was included for my stay (corporate offer) but you could obviously do better if you have to pay and have time to leave the hotel.

The front desk staff was more than accommodating. The parking was underground, and if felt very safe. The property can use a refreshing and feels dated. I'll be back either way because of the staff.

Great hotel in a very central location. Stayed here the night before the OC Marathon and really enjoyed my room. The team members were very friendly and were kind to give me late checkout when I was late coming back after the race. Check this place out for sure.

I was here from Friday - Monday. I was able to checkin early. A co-worker picked me up from the airport, but the hotel has a free shuttle to take you within 3 miles. If it's not available, they will pay for a Lyft for you, which is awesome.
First, the staff is amazing. Really nice group of individuals. The hotel looks like it has been renovated recently.
The room was pretty spacious, assuming if you pay for it, you'll have a better view than I did. Three "issues" with the room. 1) no iron or ironing board. I don't like to bother anyone so I didn't ask. 2) The fridge is great to have in room, BUT this one froze everything in it no matter what setting it was on. 3) There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom. This means after a shower, you're wiping off the mirror or waiting a bit.
Meant to go to the gym, but never had time. Didn't go to the restaurant because while they had V (vegan) at the bottom of the menu, there wasn't anything but one side that seemed to actually be non dairy/plant based. If you're vegetarian, there seems to be options. BUT there are so many non dairy/plant based restaurants in the area that will deliver to the hotel.
Lastly, they give you two bottles of water when you checkin. I ran out and needed to grab from the cafe downstairs. I gave them $20 and the change was $11.26 which is insane for a bottle of Smartwater (the only water they sold). So just keep in mind, the beverages there are very over priced.

Great Hotel with helpful staff who go out of their way to ensure all your needs are fulfilled.
Location of hotel is excellent. Easy access to the freeways which makes all the difference when travelling. Super safe area also.

The hotel itself is nice and the rooms spacious. The decor is nice and modern and everything feels fresh and new which is, I believe, because it was recently renovated. My one complaint is that the breakfast represents terrible value for money. $25 for very little choice with only a few hot options, some fruit, cereal and baked goods. Honestly at that price point I would expect a lot more and the quality of what was there could be considered average at best.
