A new sports and entertainment venue, UBS Arena, opened its doors in November 2021. Replacing the Nassau Coliseum, it’s home to the New York Islanders, a popular NHL team. The arena is situated at 2400 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont, NY 11003, which is just east of New York City’s borough of Queens. UBS Arena Parking Lots & Rates
The arena operates multiple parking lots, which are placed within walking distance and open two hours before the start of an event. Car parking structures are divided into four event parking zones:
- Diamond Parking
- Silver Parking
- Emerald Parking
- South Parking
Diamond and Silver parking areas are just east of the venue and offer the most convenient parking spots. The South Parking lot is a large, surface parking lot located right across from Hempstead Avenue. If you opt for Emerald Parking, you’ll need to take a 15-minute walk to the venue or use the free shuttle service. UBS Arena recommends arriving early and reserving parking ahead of time. Pre-paid parking passes will reduce your costs since event parking rates will increase by $5 when purchased at the lots before an event. The venue suggests using Ticketmaster, but it currently offers Emerald Parking only, and the fee is $30. To lower the costs, purchase a UBS Arena parking pass in advance through Vivid Seats—you’ll be able to find a spot for around $20 or less!
ADA Parking
Accessible parking spaces for guests with disabilities are available on a first-come, first-served basis in all UBS Arena parking areas, except the South lot. If you book parking in this lot and require an accessible spot, the staff will direct you to the Diamond or Silver lot. All UBS Arena parking structures also offer ADA-accessible shuttles to and from the venue. Displaying a valid disabled parking permit or placard is mandatory.
Public Transportation to UBS Arena
Hopping on a train is the most painless way to cut your costs and avoid parking hassles or traffic jams. The Belmont Station is the closest rail station, but you can also exit at the Elmont or Queens Village Station—both of them offer shuttles on event days. Additionally, LIRR offers two special trains that run between Belmont and Jamaica Station on New York Islanders’ game days. Alternatively, you may catch a Q110 or Q2 bus, which stops near UBS Arena. A single-ride bus fare is only $2.75.
Aside from public transit, Islanders fans can request Uber or Lyft rides before and after the game. The designated area for pick-ups and drop-offs is on the north side of UBS Arena, and you can access it via Cross Island Parkway Exit 26D. If you’re searching for a reliable airport transfer, find and book a JFK Airport Shuttle; the ride from the airport will take less than 15 minutes.
Tailgating Information + Nearby Bars
Tailgating at UBS Arena parking lots is prohibited. If you’ve planned to have a drink or grab a bite before the Islanders game, you have a few alternatives. The nearest fast food restaurant is Wendy’s, but there’s also a deli called Talk of the Town, which offers tasty food a 10-minute walk away from the venue. If you’re traveling by train, go to a bar before hopping on a train since the area around UBS Arena doesn’t have cool sports bars.
