The Liberty State Park parking hours are from 6 AM to 10 PM, and most lots are free of charge. However, if you want to park near the ferry terminal or rail station, fees will apply—learn more about these below.
Liberty State Park Ferry Parking

Operated by SP+ Parking, the Ferry Lot at 30 Audrey Zapp Drive offers parking for the historic RR Terminal, Liberty Island, and Ellis Island. It also serves as an overflow parking area for the Science Center. While admission to the park is free, the Liberty State Park parking fee at the Ferry Lot is $7 per car. The cost for oversized vehicles is $10.
Liberty State Park Light Rail Station Parking
The Park & Ride Lot provides easy access to the HBLRT system, Liberty State Park, and the Science Center. From the New Jersey Turnpike, turn left to take the first exit ramp at 14-C eastbound to reach the lot. The daily parking rate is only $3.45, while the monthly fee is $57.50. Note that overnight parking is prohibited on weekdays.

- Free parking in Liberty State Park is limited but available at several locations. To avoid parking charges, park your car in the Pesin Drive West or East Lot, near the playground, or across the street from The Interpretive Center.
- The Boat Launch Lot is ideal for vehicles with trailers. This boat ramp is not too busy and offers low-cost parking and a lovely view of the Manhattan skyline.
- Accessible parking stalls are obtainable on a first-come, first-served basis in several parking lots, including the Ferry Lot and Nature Center Lot. A disabled parking permit is required.
Taking Public Transit to Liberty State Park
If you plan to visit the park on a weekend or holiday, public transit is a better option than parking in Liberty State Park. The Liberty State Park Station is on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail system, connecting Bayonne and Jersey City with Hoboken, Weehawken, and Union City. It’s near the Liberty Science Center, but the walk to the Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal would take half an hour. A one-way rail fare is $2.25.
