Great international airport and I did a layover to get here.

Really great airport! It may be small, but was able to get through security fast and efficiently, without much hustle and bustle! The airport staff was also very friendly, and helpful in assisting with check ins, and boarding in a timely manner. Overall, a great little airport that makes traveling to and from Des Moines as easy as it can be!

The terminal experience was great. Low volume of people, quick check-in process, and light walk to the terminals. As for the flight, it was delayed due to technical difficulties. Overall, it was a good experience with the service provided.

My top priorities in an airport is safety and speed. Des moines does awesome at both. Getting in and out of this airport is smoother than nearly any other that I fly through. The food options and amenities inside are limited, but those are lower priorities for me and don't really matter. Well done Des Moines!

I loved this airport. It was small and cozy and you could find where you need to go easily. Not crowded at all, so just a really good airport.

I was born and raised in Des Moines so maybe bias, but this is my favorite airport. The airport is small, but does have a great restaurant with local beers on tap. The service there is always prompt and friendly. You def. do not need to show up more than an hour before boarding or you will be waiting around for awhile, security is quick and all gates are super close.

It's one of the better small airports. Fast, efficient, not a lot of food options or shopping. Prior to the security line, the escalators, is a good spot to consolidate your belongings into your carry-on; it helps speed you through security whether that's regular security or TSA pre check.

The airport is nice and I was pleasantly surprised that the water fountains had cup dispensers that actually had cups in them.
The seating in baggage claim was comfortable, which was appreciated as I had to wait 5 hours for the next Delta Flight that had my luggage.
Delta will be my last choice, instead of first choice from here on out. It's not the wait for the luggage, but their lack of concern for the inconvenience it caused. I was picking up a vehicle I purchased and planned on driving towards home (Louisiana), immediately. The delay caused an extra hotel stay as well as set me back on time. All they could offer was to send the luggage to ahead. This however would have meant driving without the contents of the luggage which made the trip safer and more pleasurable. I am an Amateure Radio Operator and had my radios, and navigation electronics in the delayed luggage.

A small but nice airport. Ticketing and baggage claim are mostly the same area, rental car lot is just next to baggage claim and easy to navigate. Coffee is right after TSA as are the restaurants which seemed nice but limited if any options for those traveling with dietary restrictions.

Great airport. I have always really enjoyed flying out of Des Moines. Short wait times to get through security. People working are almost always nice. Wish every airport was like this! Only downside is that sometime TSA Pre check isn't up and running. Also, huge positive is how cool the toilets are.

The Des Moines airport is pretty small and easy to navigate. Checking in does not take a lot of time and neither does going through the airport security.
The place is tidy and has a lot of labels so you will not miss your gate.
I am not sure how ticket fairs are compared to other airports. Will recommend buying tickets way ahead of time if you know your travel plans.

First choice when flying is always DSM! Closer than MSP, easier to get in and out of, better parking, and not a crowded mess. Parked and through security within 20 minutes usually. The new terminal construction has started and improvements have already been made to parking and to the new entrance. A great airport for Iowa!

I fly in and out of the Des Moines Airport often. It is a smaller airport, but it is clean, and the people are nice. The shuttle bus is efficient and pretty fast. TSA and security checks are usually pretty quick as well. I love that they have filtered water stations to fill you water bottles.

For being a small city, I find this airport laid out very nice. Getting through security usually doesn't take very long. I like the new errs they are testing out. The times I have went through the airport, I have not had to remove my stuff from my backpacks.

Manageable small airport, but big on customer service! Security, baggage pickup, etc were all quick. Every time I've flown in and out of this spot has been zero hassle. This was easily the most seamless airport experience that I have ever had.
Although the airport is small, I felt it was easy to navigate, and generally clean. From the time I checked in to the time I made it through security and was sitting at my gate on the way home, it was not long at all. I like how they have a designated escalator for TSA PreCheck travelers and the standard TSA line; this seemed to cut down on passenger congestion in that area.
As far as the employees, everyone I encountered seemed friendly and helpful. An interesting thing was that the man who checked me in for my flight/printed my boarding pass at the front of the airport, was the same man who was the gate agent for my flight in the terminal later.

Super easy airport to fly out of or into. Lines are always minimal and the check-in and screening process are always very efficient. Have never had any issues at this airport and can confidently say that it would be a hard airport to get lost in due to it's size. You can find a couple of food and drink options in the airport to fit most tastes.

TSA was hilarious today. I got flagged in the line, said something on my chest set it off… I have no piercings, wore no bra, and have no medical devices. 😂
Makes me wonder how updated and accurate the machines actually are.
After my pat down the rest of the process was fairly quick. Facilities were clean. Airplane took off on time.
Smaller airport but everyone who I spoke was helpful and polite.

DSM is a tiny airport. They have grown recently, but still have a total of about 10 gates. This is great if you have airport anxiety, but it can be very tricky if your flight is delayed or canceled because there are not many flights coming in or out each day. Also most of the flights are regional, so if you are making a longer trip out of or into DSM expect it to have a connection. Additionally there are not many food options, so if your flight is delayed or if you have a very early flight you will be eating from the vending machines. On the upside the airport is always clean and never crowded. TSA is the worst at about 5am because the highest density of flights is around 6 each morning.

For a rather small airport is good, very organized and sometimes you can pass the check point quite quickly. You do need to be there quite early because the waiting rooms are small and seats are taken quickly if it's a full flight.

We had to take our family member to the airport at midnight so they can catch their flight at 5am. while when they were there, they shuts off couple lights above their head so it wouldn’t be so bright. I truly appreciate it! Thank you whoever did that!!

Nice small airport, easy to get in and out, one security line, total of about 14 gates. A few okay places to get food inside. Rental car is easy, across the drive in the bottom of the parking lot - but - you have to go to the counter first .

This is one of my favorite airports! It's small and not very crowded, so it takes practically zero time to get through security. I've never missed a flight here. All the staff I've encountered have been friendly and helpful. And you don't have to take stuff out of your bag for security!

Good regional airport with large number of flight options and destinations. Convenient location with lots of parking at reasonable rates. We tend to use Southwest Airlines out of DSM and of course they are great. The food options are pretty limited past security so you will want to eat beforehand if you have a long wait. Otherwise fast and efficient with a clean and modern facility.

One of the best airports to navigate through. Security is usually a short wait, and with the new TSA scanners, lines move quickly! Parking and shuttles work very efficiently, and food choices in the terminal are great for how few gates there are. Can't wait to see the airport expand!

Missed our flight but the facility was lovely.
However, as two beguiled travelers sat in the austere confines of an airport terminal, we serendipitously unearthed a clandestine vantage point from which to marvel at the captivating spectacle of airplanes ascending into the heavens. Each departure unfolded as a meticulously choreographed ballet, an exquisite defiance of gravity, accompanied by the sonorous symphony of engines among scorched earth. Within the bustling milieu, the tarmac transformed into an unfrequented theater stage, where the human drama of dreams, reunions, farewells, and untold adventures unfurled beneath the boundless expanse of the cerulean sky.

I flew in and out of the airport for the first time and was thoroughly impressed! It was small enough so that you aren't walking forever and it's very clean. There are plenty of food options including a nice dine in restaurant/bar. If you are picking up and dropping off a rental car you don't have to use shuttles. There are plenty of places to sit and charge your phone throughout the airport. I noticed a sign that improvements are coming soon, so I guess it will just continue to improve!

It always seems to be fast to get through security here. During busy travel times I've never waited more than 30 minutes. The line consistently moves. They get you through. They will make you take all electronics out of your bag (phone, laptop, tablet, kindle). Easy to navigate terminal and has always been clean.

Flight got delayed from 2:55 to 10:50, everyone was super friendly to me. I was kept updated regularly and all the staff and security took time to talk with me and give me a smile. It was nice to have the friendly faces and good conversation while I waited alone in the airport.

Clean airport! Restrooms are spacious. Easy yo navigate to your terminal/airline. The only downfall is that the pickup and drop-off area is right in front of the airport and gets very disorganized with cars stopping and car doors opening in the middle. There are only two lanes to use. Shuttle has two lanes as well and is not used as much. Good news is the airport is going thru a major renovation, and the improvements so far are awesome! Hope they plan on improving the flow of the pickup and drop off traffic. Suggestion would be to offer free parking!

Flying in and out of Des Moines is easy and often more relaxed than most airports. Mainly because it’s small and cozy.
I’ve flown when the weather is very bad and when it’s really great.
Not thrilled when the ice cometh but glad that the experienced teams at the airport tarmac keep everyone safe.
This airport always has clean restrooms when I’m there and plenty of room to relax waiting for flights.
There’s a nice cafe. The food was good. I’ve made purchases at the gift shop and got sundry snacks before I board in my way elsewhere. All good.
There’s a Starbucks at this airport when you’re coming and going but not inside the terminal.
My favorite part is the welcoming local arts and sculptures to enhance my travel experiences.
Each visit meets my expectations.

Able to park with ease. Pick up and drop off a breeze. Comfortable chairs to wait on your passengers to come in. And you can stay with them before they get up to board. Wonderful wonderful friendly airport.

Thankful that this is our home airport! Friendly people, a good TSA staff, and multiple places to get food and drink once you're through security. After deplaning, it's a quick walk from any gate to the curb. There is ample parking, and there are good long-term parking shuttles, too. Parking is affordable, and entering/exiting the parking facilities is quick. This airport has been the starting point of many memorable journeys!

I never have any issues at this airport. TSA can be backed up, but that's at every airport. Try Arugula & Rye; great food, and even better staff. There are plenty of things to look at and fill your layover time. Smaller than most, but it does the job without too much traffic.

Good sized airport with ample amenities. Not so large that you feel like you won't reach your gate in time. Easy to find rental cars and restrooms.
