I traveled through Bangor airport on August 28, 2024. It was a very busy morning. I had to change my original plans of taking a carry-on after hurting my knee. When I checked my bag at Delta’s check in gate, the young man was very kind and asked if I needed help from gate to gate. He checked my layover times for the two stops that I had in LaGuardia and Atlanta airports. Based on the distance between gates he Requested a wheelchair To get me from gate to gate. Had he not done that I would not have gotten home. Thank you, Bangor!!!! Thank you, Delta, and that young man Who is diligence and kindness was invaluable.

Regularly do business with this location thanks to my current employment situation. Our experiences with this business are varied and, on average, would reflect a relationship of necessity more than one convenience.

Other airports may offer more amenities, but as locations go, you cannot dispute its accessibility.

Very small airport (6 gates). Not trying to tell people to show up at the last minute, but it is easy to go through security. TSA agents are doing their job well with a smile. Very limited options for breakfast so come prepared.

Small Airport. Single Terminal. Even the TSA Folks will chat with you in a friendly way.

Beware: If you purchased Popover mix (or any powdery product) and bring it home in your suitcase, your suitcase will be opened by TSA. TSA views any powder as possible Anthrax, etc. Also, planes are small so most carry-on luggage gets Gate-checked. Pick your bag up at destination on walkway ramp. Security is deadly serious about carry-ons: one small bag, one personal item= 2 items ONLY.

BIA is a great airport! Super friendly staff and TSA workers. It’s a smaller airport, so the prices also reflect the size - there are still great rental car options, even some food and a little shop to enjoy. I didn’t mind the convenient location and the slower, laid back culture.

Bangor is an easy in easy out airport. Plus, the rental car parking is just outside the main door, no shuttle bus to deal with. The parking is also cheap relative to other airports. This is an easy launching point to mid-Coast (Bar Harbor) if you are headed that way. Food options are limited.

Efficient. Can get quick food. If you walk to the attached hotel the restaurant is good. All and all a nice little airport. Friendly. Good parking.

Flew in & out during a visit on 4/5/24-4/7/24. Small airport for a small city. Main floor looks to have been remodeled, while the upstairs untouched judging by how dated it looked in comparison. The day of my departure, had a 6am flight and managed to arrive at 5:25am (walked 4.5 miles from my hotel in Brewer to get to the airport)... the Delta check-in clerk makes a remark about me "potentially missing my flight due to them just starting the boarding process (commonly starts 30 minutes before departure). Its only a 1 minute walk/escalator ride to the TSA checkpoint + only took 3 minutes to get through security + another 4 minutes getting reassembled afterwards.... and still went from the TSA to the gate, then to the other side of the secured area for the only bathroom. Walked down the boarding ramp with 5 minutes to spare before the National airline policy of shutting the terminal doors leading to the boarding ramp 15 minutes before departure times. Definitely proved not only the check-in clerk wrong but also a couple TSA agents that were making remarks to each other about me being "that type of passenger".... which I'm going to assume is "being late" or "missing flights" due to timing and possibly physical appearance as a big guy...... assumed = underestimated. Small airport with more than likely a handful of daily departures + arriving closer to the departure (especially if the airport is small enough/ lack of service that all passengers inside are for that 1 and only flight) means most would have already gone through + having gone through few dozen TSA screenings since 9/11, kinda know what is & isn't allowed, along with how to have certain things presented inside luggage for the scanner that wouldn't require an additional physical inspection from the TSA.

Early morning, super fast and easy process. TSA agents were all friendly and seemed happy to be here... Not like in larger airports! Gift shop was open at 4am, Cafe by the gate also open... Very nice.

Airport is small, clean and efficient. My flight is delayed due to a snowstorm. If you buy alcoholic beverages at the Highlands Airport Cafe through security, you must STAND at the high tops. They don’t provide seats for those drinking. A very attentive and compassionate woman, named Lori, approached me asking how everything was. I said great accept I just had back surgery and can’t sit down with my beer. Turns out she was the manager of the cafe. She went and found me a chair so I could wait more comfortably. Standing isn’t really possible for long. As others poured in and had to stand I felt terrible. I hope they put the chairs back ASAP. It feels discriminatory for those of us who enjoy an adult beverage but can’t stand.

Impressive airport! Plenty of neat planes coming around including military, cargo, and lots of private flights. (Antonov An-124 pictured as seen from the road leading to the Bangor Fire training facility off of Odlin Rd)

This is the friendliest airport I’ve ever been to. From the delta check in to TSA, such a good, easy experience. I’m not used to not being shoved and rushed through and this airport was a pleasant unexpected experience, especially at 5:30 in the morning when people tend to be less awake and not as friendly. We arrived at 4:45 for a 6 am flight. We were the only people going through security with our 4 year old. Literally everyone working TSA said hello to all of us, even those on the other side who weren’t helping us said good morning and gave my daughter a sticker. Airport was clean, and a little breakfast/coffee/snack place was open at 5 am with some healthy options. Love this tiny airport!

Small, pleasant and fast. Welcoming and accommodating to military. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood. Could use a few more restrooms and water fountains.

I love that there is a ' waiting zone' before the pickup area when there isn't enough room in the pickup area to wait.. or if you're there early to pick pick somebody up :)

Parking overnight is a little pricey but it's an airport so understandable

Small and fast to get through. Nice TSA, way nicer than any airport I've been to so far. Only thing is, my ticket said gate 3, I went to gate 3 and they were boarding for Washington DC with America airlines, their flight person was so rude when telling me I had the wrong flight. I tried to show my ticket and ask if any more plans were coming to this gate, he said I don't know, go over there, next... Found out we were in gate 1, despite the ticket saying gate 3. I wasn't the only one who got lost either. If my flight had taken off before I found out I was at the wrong hate, we would have been stuck. This isn't necessarily the airports doing, but that needs to be addressed before someone does miss their flight.

Conveniently located airport right in-town. Fast and helpful security. Plenty of seating in waiting area and a lot of open space to walk around. My only complaint is that I wish they made it easier to get from the East Coast to the Midwest. A destination like Minneapolis or Denver would be nice. I'm also disappointed that there is no longer service to Boston on Delta. I hope that is brought back. Also another airline like JetBlue or Southwest would help lower fares as it can be expensive to fly in and out of here.

Small and quick! I was sitting at my gate and having a drink within 10 minutes of being dropped off! But like any airport, make sure you give yourself at least an hour just in case the security line is a little slow.

Timely pass through of TSA process as well as airline check in.

We flew Alligiant, One star!! ⭐.

Alligiant was a terrible vendor. They should be kicked out!

While going through security we were denied access and told we needed to check an item as it wouldn't be able to come into the plane. So we left security, went down to the ticketing desk to pay for a checked bag. But surprise... no one who worked for Alligiant was at the counter!

United told us that Alligiant didn't have staff and so no one would be available to help us from Alligiant. The United worker called up to the Flight crew and the workers said they wouldn't send anyone to the desk to assist us.

So we now give 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ to the #UNITEDAIRLINES worker. They took care of our family. The worker we spoke to said she would PERSONALLY mail our unchecked item to us!!! Someone who profited zero from our situation mailed our items to us on her own time!

Thank you United. We will be booking with you for our next flight to BGR.

Alligiant was such a cost cutting hack.

On the way up our plane was over sold, they switched aircraft and moved our seats, but only informed half of the passengers. So there were 3 people groups all fighting for the same seats. It made boarding slow and irritating for all the parties who were trying to get on.

A few hours before our return flight we received messages saying Alligiant over booked our flight and needed volunteers to give up their seats. We called for information and an automated recording said our tickets were automatically changed to the next flight! Which was exactly what we needed to avoid!! After being on hold for an extended period of time we were told we could still remain on the same flight and they would simply get other people to give up their seats.

When we got onto the plane at Bangor again our seats were changed. There was absolutely zero leg room. I am 5'8 and my knees were touching the seat in front of me. My feet didn't fit in-between the seat in front of me and my seat and I had to have them on top of my small backpack on the ground and in the isle. The chairs were dreadfully uncomfortable and there was no arm room, and I am a skinny individual! This company has cut all the corners and are making millions in profits. I wouldn't recommend. We got to our destination safe, but the journey was not pleasant.

This quaint airport offers efficiently while still delivering the home-y and friendly attitude of this area of Maine. Everyone was so kind and patient. There is a pet relief area and a small play area for kids. The airport features a local gift shop called the Grasshopper and a small cafe with decent pricing, unlike bigger airports I’ve been to. The TSA line was more like an empty maze than a “line.” I would definitely fly in or out of this airport again.

Got delayed at JFK for 6 hours because Delta didn't have a parking spot for their plane, which caused me to be late to Bangor and everything went smooth at Bangor International Airport. And the young man from Hertz Rent-a-Car was still there and I was able to get my rent all right before they closed very nice young man:-) great experience

Easy to get around and they are pretty helpful if you have questions. Maine is just a Beautiful state itself- the location is close to anything you will need and although Bangor itself is not the best the airport is nice.

Best airport in the country? I’ve been through here several times, to visit family in Sanford Florida and it’s never busy.

You can arrive 20 minutes before boarding and still be 15 minutes early 😂

This last time I set a timer to see how long it took to get through TSA security.

They took my license, scanned my belongings, patted me down, I put on my shoes, and I’m still under five minutes! Best airport.

I would Love, absolutely love to thank the many residents of Bangor who come out to show their support at the airport when the military comes through on their way overseas as well as the way back! I was with the US Marines in early 2007 when we flew into Bangor for the first time ever. When we departed the plane and began down the corridors of the airport, it was quite an eery feeling. The feeling of the unknown. Take a left here, a right then left here.. it seemed to never end. The further I walked in line with hundreds of other Marines, I could begin to hear a noise that got louder the closer I got. Then boom, that last right or left turn, there stood the most welcoming people I've ever met. On both the left and right sides of the hallway stood, many of the residents of Bangor, Maine. All of which volunteered their time to come out late at night to shake each and every one of our hand's and to show their support for us.

This hallway seemed so long, and the number of people I could not know seemed to go on forever.

I shook hands and spoke to all of them as I entered, as did we all. Rhen we sat and stood around getting to know you all. The bar was open and some beers were drank and it was just an overall amazing experience. Finally 17 years later... I'm able to give thanks for those that were there. THANK you. Sgt. Lomax. HMLA-369. Gunfighter rule!!

Bangor is my local airport and I use it for almost all of my flights. I love how I never have to wait two hours to get through security (like at some other airports). I've never had any issues here, until my flight last week. I have a medical device that won't allow me to go through the newer scanners. Since this is the first time I've flown since my diagnosis, I contacted TSA ahead of time to let them know that I need to go through a metal detector or be patted down. TSA responded that they'd be ready for me. Instead, on the morning of the flight I got a woman who told me that I can go through the scanner and that the letter from my doctor is wrong. She said that the metal detector wasn't an option and I'd have to be patted down. The man who did the pat down was much more professional than her. The hassle I received from her (and her insistence that she knows more than my endocrinologist) is why I removed a star. I was shocked that my treatment at Reagan National Airport was much better. I'll be flying out of Bangor again soon and I hope my experience is smoother this time.

Cool small airport, the size I like. Rental car drop off was a breeze, check in painless. Only downside was the airside food offer, but it is a very small airport with a grand title 'International'.

Small, uncrowded airport with minimal surrounding traffic. Easy car rental. The several TSA officers I encountered were all very friendly and professional, which is appreciated. There are few meal options, but assuming people don't connect through Bangor, one can be in town in about 5 minutes.

Great small airport. Clean, efficient and very convenient. Serviced by most major U.S. airlines which is great for connecting . The only inconvenience is the lack of food concessions. There is only one small cafe/ store after security selling mainly cold snacks. They should consider adding more options for dining and services as this airport continues to grow.

Great service and nicest airport security I’ve seen! They check throughly but are very friendly and professional. We brought lobster meat home for gift in a cooler. Needless to say they had to open the cooler to make sure the ice was still frozen. And they taped it back for us nicely after checking!
