Sprawling airport with most areas open to the outside, particularly the concourses between terminals. Went to the food court to grab a quick bite since we were taking a l a later flight. All I can say about that is the sitting area to eat your food at was super dirty and nasty. We found the cleanest dirty table to sit at and gobbled down our BK chicken nuggets and made our way to our gate. Overall the airport itself is very pretty and clean.

Very nice airport. Easy to navigate. Easy check in process. The curbside attendant was very friendly and helpful. Pleasant, clean airport. Nice Hawaiian shops. The cultural garden was outstanding. Very relaxing and enjoyable with ponds, fish , greenery. The only reason I gave them a 4 was because my terminal E1 had no phone chargers.

Beautiful Airport. Once you get off your airliner and enter inside the airport, you get that Hawaiian feel. Lots of Palm Trees and greenery.. also, lots of eateries and souvenir shops. However, the food is pricey, in my opinion. All of the major Airlines worldwide, fly into this airport. It's very busy with air traffic, landing and leaving. It's simple, to get over to the rental car area. Lots of taxi's available.. I've been through this International Airport a few times over the years, and I've seen several design changes, all for the better. Overall, a great Airport. 5 Stars Plus !!

Short and sweet since I only saw it briefly as I was in a rush to make my connecting flight. From what I could see in that short time, it looked clean, was very quiet (unusually quiet for an airport) and staff appeared to be very professional. The photos are from my flight headed in to HNL. Hawaiian Airlines was awesome!

Nothing wrong that I experienced here. This airport is a little dated but the zen garden makes up for it when you land. All your airport needs are here. Smaller airport than other big cities but that's ok too. Great airport, great staff, nice terminals, what more can you ask for? Glad it's there for us all to fly in and out of.

Incredibly easy to return the rental car, drop bags, and going through security was a breeze. We did have TSA, but others who traveled with us did not, but it took them the same amount of time to go through regular security. Super clean & not stressful

The airport wasn't as busy given that it's a holiday week. Has a local bus that can bring you into Waikiki, or if you're renting a car, there are a numerous amount of vendors.

The terminal 2 was warm while waiting for the departure. The airport seemed a little bit dated on the inside, so it could use some remodeling.

The infrastructure seems really outdated. So many areas of improvement are necessary.

Check-in. Baggage Claim area. Kiosks. Bathrooms. Food options. It seems really dark.

The Train will be a very nice addition and extremely convenient. Hurry Up! šŸ˜Š

The largest and most busy airport in Hawaii. The terminal is nice in a brutalist style like many buildings in Honolulu. However, the terminals are far from each other and if you have to walk from one to the other, you will have to walk quite a bit. Fortunately, there is a shuttle bus that will shorten this journey. Find more time before departure, moving in the terminals is quite chaotic. The garden in the center of the terminal is definitely worth a visit.

Terminal 1 has been redone nicely with large ceilings, open spaces, eateries, and a lot of places to sit and charge your phone if you're flying Hawaiian. Otherwise, terminal 2 is pretty old and dark, but a lot of outdoor breezeways that connect the gates and a decent amount of restaurants, a food court, gift shops, and even a japanese garden. The rental car garage is right across from terminal 2 departure level 2 and has been nicely redone. The city buses to waikiki and other areas if the island are up on the departures level 2, along with Uber/lyft and other shuttle busses.

At the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, you can find what you need on the inside of the airport. There are a wide range of dining options as well. Some of the hours are shorter and do not reflect the times on Google. I think that there have been lots of good renovations on the restrooms, but there is still more to be desired.

The terminals are old and outdated, but that sort of adds to the charm of the place. After all, it's Hawaii, it's paradise, what more do you really want or need? The indoor/outdoor design is cute, welcoming you with a gust of warm, humid air that tells you that you have arrived.

The car rental companies have been consolidated into a centralized location, which makes it much more convenient in terms of picking up your rental.

Nice airport, everybody was very nice. Now that the flu has gone the shops are open and the restaurants are serving again. Very clean and well run. Good shops and friendly people. Itā€™s got a real nice atmosphere that actually makes flying fun(ish)

My expectations of Daniel K. Inouye Intl. Airport was high before flying into it. However that all quickly dissipated when I saw how limited the airport was. The airport itself is clean, well designed and has good signage. Getting from one gate to another gate is straight forward and can be done quickly.

Their baggage claim area is nice and gets the job done. The lighting in the airport is decent but makes the concourses look dull and depressing. However one of the bright spots to this airport is that it has been remodeled and upgraded as to not show its age. The airport is welcoming and has several memorabilia that honors Hawaiiā€™s history and legacy.

There are strategic locations where you have access to fresh air from outdoors. You can stand at a balcony and feel the cool breeze. Another thing to consider is that there aren't many restaurants or store to choose from so your options are limited.

Overall, a decent airport but it's not paradise, it's simply a airport that's meant to get you to your destination

Quick in and out- If you do any research on your trip, managing the covid expectations is easy and convenient regardless of vaccinations status. The woman at the counter was extremely kind. Our baggage claim was broken and they had to switch to a different one but we were too excited to be there to care! They switched things over as quickly as they could. I do enjoy the open layout though!

This is a very efficient, clean and organized airport. The terminals are indoors, but the walkway to them are covered open-air walkways, so you consistently get a nice breeze. When we arrived, our luggage was split between two baggage carousels, which seemed odd, but it help get luggage out faster actually. Car rental is a short walk across the hall, but still on the grounds, which was very nice. Plenty of signage and decent restaurants inside the airport. Doesn't take long to walk through the airport security either, which was a relief. Mahalo!

How fabulous it is to be a American express platinum card holder. Today we flew from Honolulu to Los Angeles and spent some time at the delta lounge. Absolute fabulous food and service beyond our expectations.

10 people in the lounge, and the same amount of wonderful people serving us. The staff from entering the lounge, to the very accommodating staff was very wonderful. After having our lunch, (the chicken salad was outstanding),

we mentioned how wonderful it would be to have a dessert. 5 minutes later a really cute guy came over with some fresh baked macadamia nut cookies.

I've got to say: fabulous!!!!!!!! Thank you so much Delta and the staff at the Delta lounge in Honolulu. Andree

Personally was pretty happy with my experience here. Yes a little out dated but it has all the necessary things. Best part were the shamble staff and rental car area. Rental car area was right across, very clean and well organized. Staff were helpful, understanding and polite. Only underlying factors were toilets needed more cleanliness and airport terminals were small for bigger flights. The terminals were crowded than usual because of this.

One other aspect was that there was no AC in the airport. It was all open airport.

All in all this airport has its own history and itā€™s beautiful in its own way.

Honolulu Airport: Where the Tropics Meet Terminal 1

As a Canadian landing in Honolulu, you're greeted by the warm embrace of tropical air and the subtle scent of pineapple. Ah, paradise! Then you step into Honolulu Airport, and reality strikes like a surprise snowstorm in April.

First, there's the baggage claim area. If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be on a never-ending episode of "Where's My Luggage?" this is your chance to find out. The wait for your suitcase feels longer than a Canadian winter, and just when you think your bag is lost forever, it appears, fashionably late, like a true diva.

Navigating the airport is like trying to find your way through a labyrinth designed by a mischievous tiki god. Signage is more of a suggestion than a guide. You might end up on a scenic tour of every terminal, which is great if you have a couple of hours to kill and a pedometer to fill.

The airport's decor is charmingly stuck in the 1970s. You half-expect to see Elvis walk by in a Hawaiian shirt. But don't worry, the retro vibes are part of the charm. It's like stepping into a time capsule, only with better Wi-Fi.

Then there's the security line. Think of it as an impromptu lesson in patience and perseverance. The line moves slower than a sloth on vacation, and just when you're about to lose hope, you finally reach the front, greeted by a friendly TSA agent who probably moonlights as a comedian.

But letā€™s talk about the food. Ah yes, the culinary delights of Honolulu Airport! If youā€™ve ever wanted to try a $12 slice of pizza that tastes like it was made during the last ice age, this is your chance. Or perhaps you're in the mood for a $7 bottle of water ā€“ a true delicacy that will make you appreciate the free tap water back home in Canada.

Despite all its quirks, Honolulu Airport has its moments. The aloha spirit is alive and well, with staff who are genuinely friendly and always ready to help, even if you're hopelessly lost. And let's be honest, any airport thatā€™s a gateway to the stunning beauty of Hawaii gets a pass.

So, if youā€™re flying into Honolulu Airport, prepare for an adventure. Embrace the quirks, laugh at the chaos, and remember: paradise is just a short shuttle ride away. Mahalo!

Very beautiful and well maintained airport.

Very good parking options for the car if you want to fly to the other islands for a day or two. Shuttle available to the rental car.

Decent dining options, being an island. Not too much traffic to and fro to the airport.

Bath rooms are decently maintained.

One of my favourite international airport.

Itā€™s half open air and half air conditioned so you get to experience the Hawaiian breeze when you arrive and depart.

For avgeeks, this place is a gem, you get to see and hear the airplanes up close in some parts and photograph them without a glass in front of you.

Be prepared to spend some time in line for TSA clearance during peak travel periods.

Bit of an old airport, brings back the 80s and early 90s charm.

One of the best airports I've been! Easy for departures and arrivals. Friendly knowledgeable staff, signage is accurate. It is a bit run down bit no matter getting off and on planes even to car rental a breeze! Didn't park so not sure how that area is but all else easy breezy:)

One of the more enjoyable airports to go through! The flow of traffic is quick and easy and the layout allows you to get around to shop and eat while waiting for your departure.

The biggest highlight is the outdoor Cultural Gardens. As you can see, the large, outdoor area gives you plenty of space and options to walk around and enjoy before your flight. You almost forget you are at an airport when sitting in the middle.

The Gardens are tranquil and can be easily explored, with loads of Koi and ducks as well. A great distraction if you need something else besides shopping and eating. A definite MUST to visit when at the airport!

Review for January 2021. In flight to Oahu Hawaii. I was here during the middle of the pandemic. And it was somewhat desolate and Erie. But nevertheless, I enjoyed the in-flight and arrived safely at the airport. I really appreciate the help from other flight attendants and the hospitality I received. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience. Will definitely visit the beautiful island of Oahu Hawaii again.

The traffic can be a bit hectic and the space is limited. However, the staff is very helpful and efficient, so you can get through quickly.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the bathrooms were clean and equipped with hand dryers on the faucets. It was a nice touch.

As for the rest of the airport, it's pretty much what you'd expect. There weren't any major issues, but nothing stood out as exceptional either.

A nice size for an International Airport in Hawaii. Not sure if my memory was incorrect the last time when I came was about 10 years ago and the airport had no air conditioning, now that it seems to have some doors that block out the air from the outside doing the walkways and then some portion of the airport have air conditioning inside where the gates are.

Further upgrades are still required, better signs and indications may be needed since to start with arrival our Uber driver and we had trouble knowing where our checking Gates is even though I saw the airline on the big screen at the smaller portion we couldn't find the airline name. After checking in we had trouble knowing where do we go through customs there was a person at the entrance waving at us but no one approached there. However, there is a sign pointing to number 3 and 4 for security customs. Lastly we had trouble finding the airport lounge as I couldn't see any signs that point to it. We had to ask a staff to help on locating it even including the lounge description on how to locate it. It felt like a treasure hunt I have to look behind a food court go behind some specifics their way and then up and down to find it. No general Direction with arrow to help locating the area.

A surprisingly smaller airport than I expected. It's compactness though is a plus, if you take a United flight you'll most likely have to walk on the overpass to your G gate. The airport is open air, so I saw a mourning dove and several house sparrows in attempting to find food. The prices are high for food, I spent over 18 dollars on a Whopper meal, small size. Tried the Fanta fruit punch, didn't care for it, and went with a Coke. Airport is well run, and boarding and the whole flight experience was pleasant. Nice big boards to read.

Some of the terminals are a bit dated. I liked how ticketing at the older terminal was indoors yet open to the outdoors as was some walkways to some gates with a garden. Hawaiian Airlines does have a newer terminal but shops not finished yet. The rental car center is updated and makes it easy to pick up and return rental cars.

There are parts of the airport that will welcome you with the tropical heat of the outdoors so be aware of that. The food court in the airport does not have an array of options so if you can eat before arriving to the airport. Very accessible points for ride share when landed. The staff are very friendly and professional.

Thereā€™s a new main terminal thatā€™s fancy and then thereā€™s the old part thatā€™s kind of run down but with fabulous outdoor seating overlooking the courtyard. The new part could be in any city but Iā€™d recognize the courtyard any time. Lovely to sit out while waiting for flights. Unfortunately the old part is also a hike to get to a bathroom. Be prepared. Not a lot of food options either.

Lucky I flew in from neighbor island. Direct flights from mainland plane parks half way round the world from baggage claim. Neighbor island flights right below. I like our airport though.New terminal expansion is beautiful. Can't wait for food shops to open up.

One of the prettiest airports I have been in or to. It has the culture of the Hawaiian people all over it. The deck from where you exit the plane is just beautiful. You do not get lays when you enter due to covid but they are available for purchase for $15 to $20. (Real flowers). They have restaurants and all kinds of shops. It's all around a nice environment and beautiful airport

This is the international airport for Oahu. Very well and ingeniously organized. The airport runs several levels to cater to various services. Especially impressive is their organization of rental cars. No need for a shuttle (for Delta, American Airlines did require a short shuttle drive. But a common shuttle for all rental cars).

It would help for them to provide more signs considering that most of their clients are tourists. We had to ask for directions a few times to get to departures.

Overall a great experience!

This is a great airport. I went here and was immensely satisfied with my experience. This airport is easy to navigate, has plenty of amenities, and has a beautiful outdoor garden. I arrived here on a Delta flight at the D Terminal, which only has two gates. This terminalā€™s two gates are in closed off rooms adjoining a hallway connecting the A, B, and C gates with the rest of the airport. I didnā€™t have to wait very long for my baggage. The rest of the airport is much nicer. The A Terminal, home to Hawaiian Airlines, has plenty of check-in counters and a quick security line. This terminal has multiple fast food and dine in restaurants. It has a beautiful new all glass concourse with great views of the apron and mountains. Thereā€™s a shuttle bus connecting all of the terminals. Hawaii is outside of the US Department of Agriculture zone, but the D-G terminals are, so passengers have to get there bags scanned while going there. Thereā€™s duty free shipping in the D Terminal but only for international passengers. This airport has an outdoor garden with a pond, stream, and pagoda. This garden is lined with multiple airport lounges, including the Korean Air and Qantas lounges. I gave this airport five stars because itā€™s laid out well, has great amenities, and a beautiful garden.

An Extremely well organised airport where there are great facilities for the comfort of passengers. The check in is fast and security and passport control speedy with very polite and helpful staff. Equally impressive were the immigration and customs counter with efficient staff.

Aloha! This airport is easy to arrive at and depart from. It offers several shops and restaurants. The restrooms are clean. Security lines move fairly well. The staff is friendly, especially at curbside check-in.

Tip: Avoid Lahaina Chicken. The smell of delicious fried chicken wafting through the concourse is tempting, but the chicken lacks flavor.

Checking in to AA was a breeze. Ag inspection and TSA quick. Lots of history in this airport and nice exhibits.

They also have a little privacy pod for nursing mother. Thatā€™s a nice addition. Daniel K. Inouye exhibit and photos are cool.

Life the garden and the big trees inside the terminal. Airport is kinda old, but still quite charming. Thereā€™s a public bus for USD 3 to the city (no 20 and 303). The bus stop is located in front of the lobby 4 (2nd floor). Bus donā€™t run often (about every half an hour).
