I have grown to really appreciate this airport. I used to fly out of Buffalo all the time, but as they keep adding more and more flights, I really enjoy flying out of here. It is a great, low stress airport with updated scanners so you don't have to take everything out of your bag. The TSA agents are very kind and help. My youngest son is tall for his age but is still 12, and they didn't give us a hard time going through the metal detector. I happened to forget to take my fitbit off, but they were calm and patient with my mistake. The facility is really clean and bright. They have lots of seating to relax even before you get to the terminal. We also appreciated the selection of food options. Also, driving into and picking people up is super convenient. I look forward to the next time I can use this location. I will also recommend this place to anyone else.

I love this airport. I got here about 09:30 for a domestic flight to Boston. Bag drop was easy. TSA security check was quick and efficient. I found my gate very easily. A couple of concessions were closed but I understand that. I really enjoyed using this regional airport. Well done Rochester.

Great airport. Almost never lines when I'm flying. Fun things to do. Good food and drink selections. Wifi. Airplanes. What not could you ask for?

This is a shout-out to Marie, from Visitor's Service, at the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport! Our family was in Cancun last week for my son's wedding. We live in Detroit; my brother lives in Rochester, so he was flying alone. My brother has Parkinson's, hasn't traveled in a very long time, and gets confused easily. When he finally arrived back in Rochester (he had a layover in Chicago, where he missed his connecting flight), he had lost his small personal item (a toiletry bag) somewhere in his travels. In this small bag, were his car keys, so he had no way to get home from the airport. Marie helped my brother look through his suitcase (his checked baggage) to make sure he didn't have a second set in his suitcase - she did this while on the phone with me. He did not - both sets were lost. Not sure how to get him home, Marie said that she would walk him out to a Taxi and explain the situation to the driver. My brother made it home safe and sound. Marie, wherever you are, we are forever grateful for your kindness. The world needs more Marie's!!! Thank you for being our hero last Monday!!! We appreciate you more than you will ever know. xo

Before going here, I had the presumption that it would be an old, run-down airport, but boy was I wrong! Maybe they renovated recently? In any case, I was impressed by the modern décor and cleanliness. The security line was short, so I got through within 2 to 3 minutes.

Nice small airport. They even have arcade games to play.

I've been to many airports in the US, and I'd say this is my favorite one. The security waiting time is almost none, and the staff is amicable. They have, if I'm not wrong, two full-size Computed Tomography luggage scanners, so passengers don't have to put out electronic devices. We enjoyed our time at this airport!

I love the renovations! It’s so beautiful and the old school video games for free by Airside B were super fun. Giant TV Pong, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, PAC Man. Mrs PAC Man. Wow!!! I stink and thought I’d “still have it”. The only suggestion I have is to drop the security queue line when no one is there. It was so silly to go back n forth 7 times. The other minor thing was that the person looking at the X-ray didn’t push my bag all the way through, so I waited a while for the “next” person. Kind of silly.

But, I’m not complaining. Just explaining 4 vS 5 stars. Go Bills!

Easy check-in and quick security, typical for a smaller/regional airport. Flew to DTW headed home to LAS. They have a small exhibit from the Strong Museum with classic video games that I thought was pretty neat.

Very nice, very clean, very small international airport. I wish all airports were this nice. There's plenty of tables and plugs for laptops/tablets/cell phones.

My first time at the airport picking someone up. Never been on a plane so you will not get any comments about that other than the fact the only wings I will be flying are the ones in heaven! The airport was very quiet nothing like you see on television. The person I picked up lost a bag but they were extremely courteous took her in formation explain to her that it would be FedEx to her the most convenient address and if it was not returned she would be reimbursed. I find out hard for the airports to make any kind of money should this happen to almost everybody that comes and goes. Looking forward to seeing how this actually pans out.

This is actually a very nice smaller airport. It is very modern and quite spacey. There is amble seating room in the gate area. There are a few restaurants and artwork to keep visitors attention. Baggage claim is spacious and rental cars counters are in baggage claim area and car pick up right across the street in the parking garage

It's good to be home. Efficiently run airport. Smelled like a belt was burning in the baggage claim carousel area. Easy pick up and drop off area. It's a small airport, but good enough for our size market. Doesn't have the amenities of a hub, but really doesn't need them. It works for us.

The airport is smaller than what I'm used to, so it was refreshing to navigate through very easily. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking is cheap in comparison to other airports. The airport is extremely clean. Spotless even.

Love the redesign, especially at the outside. The landscaping is fabulous; whomever designed it got it right. Not the same old mall plants but innovative. And...renaming it after Frederick Douglas was so overdue. Bravo!

Easy in and out. I also had car rental. It was a quick process. Except check everything before you drive off. Gas for example they tell you bring back full. Well upon start up below last quarter. Of course I went back and told counter person. They were going to give me another car went computer crashed because lights in terminal flickered. Way to go RG&E! Told her just credit car to be returned at same spot not full. She told me I was good to go. Well see how rest of trip goes.

This might just be my first airport review! ROC is super easy to navigate, and I really appreciated the installations from the Strong Museum when my flight was delayed. I think my only complaint is that the dining options closed before my flight departed (a beer would have been a lovely consolation!).

Rochester Airport is pretty chill and easy to navigate. ✈️ It’s not huge, but it has everything you need. There are some solid restaurants and cafes to grab a bite or a coffee. 🍔☕️ Plus, there are a few shops if you need to pick up anything last-minute. There’s also free Wi-Fi and enough charging stations to keep your devices powered up. 🔋 Bathrooms are clean and the staff are friendly. 🚻 It’s a relaxed spot with all the basics covered—perfect for a smooth travel experience!

Easy breezy inside and outside seems like Security is a little zealous, but nevertheless, I guess it's better to be overly cautious than not cautious enough.

Check in luggage and security checks are fast and the staff are helpful

Few restaurants and convenience stores are located in the airport.

Absolutely awesome and beautiful airport near the Rochester area. The gate staff and TSA staff were friendly and fast, the airport was clean, plenty of places to eat, and easy to locate your flight. There are 2 concourses which makes it easy to locate your flight and the airport is just the right size. The airport was also easy to locate and the rental car process was also easy. Overall, I highly recommend flying to this airport!

The overall experience was great for my first time on a plane since I was a teenager. But the security was crazy though. They definitely upgraded and go to extreme lengths to keep us safe. I just wish they would've told us about liquids and gels on a carry-on and that I had to check my bag before I went through security.

Renovated a couple of years ago and looks great! Lots of games from the Strong Museum area. They even have some decent food and snacks. Small airport is easy to navigate, TSA prechek line often moves fast.

Amazing airport with great flights for the area. Most major carriers use their regional affiliates for routes to hubs via smaller jets, but budget carriers do fly larger jets into the airport occasionally. Great airport for planespotting as there are many places to watch both private and commercial planes take off and land. Ever since the renovation of the terminal, the airport has seemed fresh and alive, and the newly announced entryway renovation should finally complete the amazing new look of the airport.

Clean bathrooms. They have water bottle filling stations. Massage chairs, area for dogs, small area for kids to play, vending machines, mini convenience store area, multiple selections for food. Medium sized airport.

Easy drop off easy pickup not a lot of staff at ticket counters Not a lot of businesses other than food in the airport. Seating is terrible and uncomfortable when you're waiting for a delayed flight. PA system is absolutely terrible. You can't understand anything the gate agent saying. It's not as bad as some other airports but there's a lot to improve

Great, but NO united lounge. It is not too busy though. Please add a United Club lounge & a Priority Pass Select associated lounge. The security (TSA?) workers are polite & some friendly. this is my hometown airport, from my youth, that is. I appreciate the remodeling & upgrading that is going on there. The staff here are all very nice. Quite so. I look forward to eating a Rochester Garbage Plate before a flight.h. I'm back. The remodeling is coming along nicely. It's beautiful. Cosmopolitan. I went back to Rochester in 2/19. Wow! The remodel of the airport is beautiful! Nice, stylish, and fancy looking. Posh. I liked the Taste of Rochester too, but I did not see a Garbage Plate offering on the menu. I just read it's at the Flight Deck diner near concourse A & costs $12. I'll pay that to get stuffed. The remodeling of the airport made me happy, & the nice covered walkway from the airport to the garage is great! ROC needs more direct nonstop flights: to: Denver, Albuquerque, SFO, LAX, Vancouver, Montreal, &? A few more nonstop direct flights away from North America too: LHR & Frankfurt please. Please consider adding a small Aritaum store at the airport that sells Amore Pacific products, such as Sulwhasoo, IOPE, & Laneige. Aritaum store always gives you free sample sized gifts with purchase, which are perfect sizes for packing in carry on luggage. I was back here in may, 2019. The airport is beautiful! $$ well spent on the remodel. Now they need to add a longer runway & get a new international airline to make ROC a hub. I was just in Toronto in June, 2019. PLEASE add back the ROC to Toronto puddle jumper (but use a tiny jet!), but don't make the round trip price more than $100. It was too expensive in the past, & most folk don't want to sit on propeller prop planes. You do not need a car in Toronto, & it is OUR world class city so close to Rochester. Air Canada & United Air should have the flight & continuously promote it & its no more than $100 round trip cost. Also promote all the nonstop world destinations from Toronto's airport. The small jet planes would be full. 10/28/19: another relaxed nice experience at this airport. The remodel job was wonderful. I even like the rocking chairs. 1/1 /20: the airport is very nice looking now. Not busy today. 6/7/21: After 1.4 years of government travel restrictions due to COVID, I'm 🔙! I'm so happy to come in & go out of ROC. 6 am: No long line at the United counter. Easy fast TSA Pre check security line. The airport has been beautifully updated again. It's a high quality nicely decorated airport with nice, polite, & friendly workers. April, 2023: They have new xray machines. Their staff are courteous.

Looks newly renovated. Clean modern bathrooms. Decent variety of food vendors for such a small international airport, Hertz vehicles are a very short walk for pick up and drop off, and overall enjoyed my short stay.

Arrived late at the airport. Getting to a gate was very quick. The airport was very clean and practically empty when we arrived. By the time we got to baggage claim, our bag was ready to go. Car rental was fast and overall a pleasant experience. This airport seems really nice. Most things were closed when we arrived, but we'll see how it is when we fly out.

Nice airport. Restaurants have reasonable prices. I love medium sized airports. No working for miles to get to a gate. The restrooms are nice and well maintained. There were lots of areas to sit outside the boarding gate.

Beautiful airport, and all of the employees in their various teams were friendly. It was clean, oranized and offered so much art. My photos lacks the really beauty of the area which goes over the cars to keep you dry and another demention. Also a beautiful stain glass work piece sits in - again because of the time my photo lacks capturing the breath taking piece of this masterpiece art.

Clean, beautiful and friendly staff. It was a nice experience and the TSA was not bad, even though they combine precheck and non-precheck into one line. The other thing I like is that the gate number will light up when there is a plane at the gate.

This airport has improved significantly in the few years I’ve lived here. Facilities are cleaner and updated. Big enough to have flights where most customers need to go, but small enough that there aren’t huge crowds and lines all the time.

Lovely little airport! I highly recommend visiting the Airfield Observatory. If you need a drink or a bite to eat, go see Suzy at "On the Rocs!"
