This hotel has seen better days. Carpets frayed and plenums water-stained. Pool small and tiles dirty. Reception friendly, but a minor change made through Expedia a full day before had not registered, which meant that the second room on my reservation had an issue upon check-in. No elevator, so assignment to the second floor requires a walk-up. On the upside, nice breakfast and dining room. Friendly and affordable bar. Room comfortable, though the bathroom is rather small.
Upon arriving, we were given a room that felt physically wet when you entered or touched the sheets. This was fixed with a switch to a new room, but it didn't help the constant smell of tobacco and marijuana throughout the halls.
Our new room didn't have any major issues until the key stopped working after ~24 hours. We got them replaced and didn't have any problems for the next 2 days. Neither of the full-size ice makers work, so the entire hotel is sharing a single-family size ice maker.
The closer we looked, the more issues we found. If you look closely at the carpet you can see the accumulation of dirt and dust in the corners. The bedsheets had stains on them. The landscaping hasn't been maintained in what looks like months. Weeds are growing higher than the shrubs in many places. None of the key-card controlled exterior doors actually work. This means anyone has access to the hotel, at any point, through any door.
The only redeeming qualities are the dirt cheap prices and that the A/C in the rooms can effectively go down to 60 degrees.
Despite their no smoking policy, the rooms wreak of cigarettes. I can deal with that, but it was the man trying to break into our room this morning that was it for me. We are pretty sure he was staff, but he tried entering our room 2 hours before checkout, and when he couldn’t get past the security latch that we’d placed over the door, he proceeded to stick a metal wire through in an attempt to remove it. At this point we jumped out of bed and told him to leave, to where he mumbled something about towels. Shouldn’t staff be aware of which rooms are occupied and the checkout times? I did not feel the safest staying at this hotel.
Out dated with no elevator. Super small bathroom with way to short of a toilet. Staff were polite. Indoor pool was very cool. Worth the money but would not do an extended stay
I would recommend getting your tetanus shot before staying at this place. It's absolutely filthy! The sitting area outside of the pool hasn't been cleaned in I would say a year, there was an extreme amount of black mold on the bathroom ceiling, the room smelled of regrets and disappointment. The hallways smelled like the cheapest weed a person can buy. I honestly don't know how anyone could work there! Do the Best Western hireups even know about this place?
This hotel has so much potential.
its in a great location.
However the pool was pretty nasty!
Its what we go to hotels for these days and although the receptionists were polite they had attitudes and seemed overworked.
The sheets on pullout couch were not changed. The grounds are not kept up properly. The court out back was littered with cigarette butts, grass over grown and trash EVERYWHERE.
They stole my hotel belongings inside the room and they assure that they can do nothing about it because their cameras never work. The last one to enter the room was the housekeeping staff but they can't do anything either. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. Bad service, I don't recommend everything. it happened, 29 April 2021
Do not stay here! Terrible smells in hallways, various characters randomly hanging about inside and outside and prebooked room I was given after a long wait was already occupied. Luckily they were not in room when I used my key to access their room, just their half eaten pizza and belongings. Go next door for same price or down the road anywhere else, I booked a nice room elsewhere via app in their parking lot.Definitely not the same condition as when it's received 3 stars.
Certainly understand why the room was below $80.
Nearly the entire room was outdated, and the towels and wash clothes were not bleached, but looked as though they had been stained brown, especially once they got wet.
The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows small. (Like half the size of a normal twin sized pillow)
Breakfast was not what I usually experience at Best Western brands across the country. The only warm options were toast or bagels. Where were the eggs, sausage, hot cereal?
Further, the folks in the neighboring rooms seemed to be having a party on both sides of me, and when I mentioned it to the staff at the desk, nothing was done, nor was a remedy offered. I was left to myself to knock on the doors on either side of my room to ask that they keep the noise down. I ended up sleeping with music playing through headphones in order to drown out the sound coming from either side of my room.
I am certainly going to try a different hotel near the Albany Airport on my way back through. I expected more for my money.
Changed rooms once, had I not been so tired would have changed hotels. This is unacceptable during any time let alone when people are suppose to be so concerned with cleaning. Pillows half size on king bed. The part best was finding a condom wrapper on the floor they forgot to pick up.
Very helpful staff that works hard to make you feel more comfortable in what can only be described as a well outdated building. The lobby is beautiful and the breakfast very good. The selling point is the indoor pool. A small but deep enough pool ..adults prepare for an invasion of children ... It's the reason I stayed a few extra days. Wifi was a hassle to set up but once things clicked it was quite fast. Only loses a star for age, smell, wear and tear ..to be expected in this old Best Western Albany Airport.
one worker working entire hotel. 45 minutes to check in 4 rooms. During that time a drunk driver hit a parked car in hotel lot. A customer broke hotel window and i got offered drugs in hallway. Front desk finally came back 45 minutes later, she claims she was "looking for towels". Hotel was disgusting. Claims to be a 3.5 star. I would say 2 star at the most.
First front desk hung up on me when I called, called back the woman was very rude. Asked to speak to a manager she told me on a Thursday she wouldn't be in until Monday. I called Monday booked with the manager. Came for my stay asking for a room next to family, they originally put us in a room on the opposite side of the building. We got that sorted out went to the room stains all on the sheets, brought to front desk and they gave us a new sheet to put on. When flipping the blanket, blood stains on the backside of it. They didn't even offer a discounted price, with all inconveniences. I have never dealt with anyone or anything like this with a hotel and competely disgusted. Definitely not recommended!
I am so beyond disturbed with not only the quality of this hotel, but the service. Lady at the front desk is incredibly unprofessional and rude. Stayed here for two nights and had to be moved to a different room the first night because the TV was broken so we had to pack up all of our things and go to the front desk just for our keys not to work at the second room. When we finally got to our second room, the heater blew cold air, the bathroom was disgusting, and there was hair in out beds. We thought we would at least try to use the pool but there had been 10+ kids in there all day long that we could not even use it. When I kindly asked the lady if we could just swim for 5 minutes after it closed because the kids had finally left she was so incredibly rude and yelled at me. There are so many hotels on this road, stay anywhere else. I would even recommend the red roof inn next door over this place.
The hotel's standards are so less. I stayed at this place for 4 days over the past weekend and I had a really bad experience. The rooms are really out dated and bathrooms are too small. I had a hot water problem for an entire day. I had one more day of stay left and there was a power outage in the hotel. I tried to call the hotel to check on the power but there was none near the front desk to even contact. There was no proper breakfast pickup service as well during this pandemic.
I had to cancel my last day's stay and ask for a refund. Overall this place is pretty bad and I don't recommend this place. This place really needs some makeover.
The purpose of this review is so you can make an informed decision.
I needed a hotel near Albany med while my son saw a surgeon for a follow up to a surgery that occurred 2 weeks prior to our stay.
Our room was clean
We did not use the indoor pool but it was open.
The price is good but the place isn’t that nice rooms outdated and bathrooms old looks this place really needs a spruce up,
When you walk in the hotel looks clean tidy and comfortable but it’s rather different once you have your room, it was cool and the window was left open I checked in at 2200 and the room was cold,
So heating on to take the chill of the place and on the walls the have a odd decor of waves very strange bed was comfortable which was good.
The bathroom was small and very outdated ceiling water damage walls damaged in the sink no hot water and the shower was Luke warm and was leaving at 6 am.
I had a great time and met some very nice people during my stay... Whenever I go to Albany I will attempt to stay here... It's clean comfortable and close to everything downtown.
The staff was very courteous. The beds were very comfortable, they feel like the beds in the Hampton Inn. I liked that the refrigerators had a freezer that you could actually use, bigger than the compact size. The room wasn’t immaculate, but was clean and cozy. The pool was clean and was a good temp. Instead of a hot breakfast, they have a few options to grab and go. Overall I would definitely stay here again.
Bathroom light was out. They promptly fixed it when notified.
Stained sheets. Weird smell in room. The outside doors are accessible to anyone.
I hope they are in the process of remodeling and updating security measures.
They allow pets and the price is what we expected for a Best Western.
The staff is friendly.
Bathroom light is out. Plaster crumbling in bathroom. Dirty grout.
Stained sheets and towels. Floors not clean. Outside doors don't lock. Weird smell in room. I hope they are in the process of remodeling. I think we will find a new hotel tomorrow, staff is nic.
Nice. Only stayed one night. Room was clean, bathroom was a little dated and small. There was no pressure at shower head and shower curtain wouldn't stay closed. But other than those minor things great stay.
A family member has been staying here recently and they tell me the staff has been wonderful and helpful. Thank you for treating my family as if they were your own!
The hotel itself is very clean and well-appointed, although the colors are a bit drab. The 1 issue the I have is the $150 hold on your cc for 'incidentals'- seems like a slightly shady way of manufacturing incidents to make some extra $. Because if someone lays with a cc, they have the # anyway; if damage is caused, just charge them
Outstanding Customer Service BIG Shout Out to the Manager who took time out of her day to drive shuttle so we could be picked up and dropped off. This type of above and beyond customer service is few and far between these days and is greatly appreciated. As far as facility the only two changes I could recommend are 1) better floor house keeping in lobby and restrooms “could be cleaner” and 2) Better Breakfast option. I realize with the Cov19 it’s difficult to have what use to be considered “Normal” but the current Breakfast options leave little to be desired. Bananas & apples can be pe purchased at any grocery along with a pack of muffins. I don’t believe that would be too difficult. Over all I do recommend this location and will be more than happy to stay again myself
Place is a disaster. Definitely a nogo for me from here on out. The smell of Skunk weed was everywhere in this place, loud parties, and general chaos. Do NOT recommend
Don't come here. Worst hotel experience ever. Room smelled of chlorine. Kids in the pool room screaming past 11 at night. No hot water to shower. Broken power outlets.
Icing on the cake was that their cleaning people let our dog out of the room when we went to get our complimentary breakfast. We caught him running down the hallway on our way back to our room. It wasn't even 9 o'clock yet. Don't come here.
Room was dirty, bathtub was absolutely disgusting. Room was outdated and had no modern amenities like USB charging. Room had a strange smell. Staff was relatively friendly, but they left the place short handed so they had nobody to run the shuttle during the times it was supposed to be running.
Great articles of Masonry and interior design... You will get lucky at this Hotel🏪🏩🏘️🏨
Nice hotel pool was clean perfect temp hotel staff were pleasant nice place to stay
Smooth checkin and rooms were very clean
Reminds you of the shinning movie lol but good rooms does have an inside pool which is kind of rare for a lot of hotels/motels..... Does have a gym but not operational as this moment during the Covid-19 pandemic
Hotel staff is extremely rude and degrading. "Regulars" get special treatment and others are treated poorly. Don't bring your dogs here because they aren't actually pet friendly. Left a night early on a 5 night work trip because I just couldn't take it anymore. Luckily other hotels in the area were available and much cleaner.
Very nice place free breakfast and it has a good size pool right off the interstate 87 on Wolf Road
Staff was friendly but the rooms were terrible. Had to change rooms because there was a giant hole.in the wall and the new room had some pretty terrible stains in the bathroom. This hotel needs to be updated in a badly... Will not recommend or stay again. 8 hours of sleep and we are gone, not even staying the night that I paid for.
Older style rooms. Creepy hallways. Does have a bar open till 10 pm and a great breakfast
We got this place due to the indoor "heated" pool and its location/pricing. It was too good to be true. The rooms were dingy and smelled awful. The pool area felt about 40 degrees or less. It was like standing outside in winter. The pool was freezing!! The kids shivered as did I and I was clothed on a chair. I made them get out and we checked out in less than an hr of checking in. It took 2 weeks to get a refund and many of phone calls. Also I was changed over $70 when the woman in the phone told me $54.xx. The manager was rude on the phone.
Love this place, clean, comfortable beds, awesome pillows, water pressure fantastic for showers, coffee all the time in lobby and in your room. Friendly and just amazing will be back for sure
Nice place. Had to stay there because my flight was canceled. Great Staff and friendly.
Slippery parking lot because of ice cover that needs to be salted, beds are saggy and uncomfortable, heater points at bed so it was blowing dry air in my face all night, the pool area is cold and miserable. This is the worst hotel I've ever experienced. However, it was not very expensive and allowed us to have our dog stay.
Very nice place. Good beds, nice staff, variety of goodies for a delicious breakfast.
This hotel is terrible. The hallways stink and everything is dirty. I've had to stay 3 times over the last couple weeks for work and every single room had mold on the ceilings. The last time I stayed, there was also mold in the shower!
None of the outlets held my charger in place, it fell out on every one but one so o had to unplug the TV for it to charge overnight. The shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while and the knob for the shower barely worked. Also the customer service at the front desk was less than pleasant.
Clean and magnificent staff. Centrally located affordable and pet friendly. A++
Very good place. Everything was great. Restaurant has great food. Free breakfast is also very good.
Decent budget hotel. Wasn't looking for more than a reasonable place to sleep while attending a conference. Room was well appointed (including small microwave and refrigerator). Pool was in a nice indoor courtyard. (No hot tub, though.) Breakfast is where Best Western shines, eggs and meat, pastries & bagels, cereals and made-to-order waffles.
Only downside, furnishings and walls have noticeable damage and wear.
Great location and very clean. It has the best continental breakfast I've ever eaten in. Staff very professional and courteous.
The staff was very rude. Rooms falling apart, but it looked nice at first. There were stains on the sheets, the ac was horrible. The pool room looked nice but was over 300 degrees. Breakfast was good, on the brighter side there was a hole in the wall. The sink was so close to the blow drier. Found ants on the wall too. Staff hung up when I asked for a towel
Friendly, helpful staff. Pleasant lobby with complimentary coffee and tea always available. Our guestroom was attractively decorated and had plenty of outlets for electronics. Good variety of food at the complimentary breakfast. Airport shuttle service was prompt and efficient.
