Conveniently located at 1200 W. Washington Street, the Indianapolis Zoo is a mile away from the downtown area. It’s placed in urban White River State Park and accessible by motor vehicle, bicycle, or public transportation. Parking Access will help drivers get there and find a car parking space in the main West, South, or other city lots. Purchase Tickets Online To Save Up to 50%
White River Gardens are closed, but you can gain admission to the Zoo and aquarium animal exhibits. Ticket prices at the Zoo gate are as follows:
- $32.75 for adults;
- $28.75 for children;
- $30.75 for seniors.
Online tickets for adults are $24.75 on most weekdays, but you can get one for as low as $16.75 if you book a few months in advance. There’s also a Total Adventure Package that includes unlimited rides and animal feeds.
Find Parking at Indianapolis Zoo
The Zoo has a large surface parking area with plenty of spots available on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition to standard car parking spaces, the lot provides two spots with EV charging stations. Accessible parking is also available right upon entry.
When you get to the Washington Street entrance sign, follow it to reach the Indianapolis Zoo parking gates from the photo below.
See the following list for daily parking rates and event fees.
Type of Pass | Daily Cost | Event Parking Cost |
Member | Free | $10 |
Non-member | $10 | $20 |
Oversized vehicles | $20 | $30 |
South Lot
On busy weekends or special event days, the Zoo may direct visitors to an overflow lot on Harding Street, also known as the South Lot. It’s a 15-minute walk from the gate, but there’s a shuttle service running to and from the Zoo. The above-listed rates apply.
Additional Options in the Area
If you take a walk across the river, you can take advantage of White River State Park. Park in the main surface lot for $3 per hour, or head to the underground garage if you want sheltered but slightly pricier parking. The park is about a 15-minute walk away.
Several lots are also placed on the streets right west of the Zoo, so some of those might be a good alternative. If you come across an on-street parking space, look for the signs and read them carefully to avoid pricey tickets. Meters in Indiana are in effect between 7 AM and 11 PM every day except Sunday.
