Snowbird Ski Resort
Snowbird is an attractive holiday mountain resort that offers world-class skiing. According to its visitors, Snowbird is one of the best-loved ski resorts in Utah! It’s only 25 miles away from Salt Lake City and has the longest ski season in the country. Visitors are delighted with fresh powder and well-groomed trails, which are suitable for all levels of expertise but especially apt for advanced skiers.
Apart from challenging runs, the mountainous 2,500-acre terrain offers comfortable lodges, restaurants, bars, and magnificent views from the snow-capped peak. So, don’t hesitate to take the tram to the top of the mountain! There’s also a tunnel that leads to the Mineral Basin side; this unique feature is a must when visiting Snowbird. The resort is connected to Alta, and the connection gate is between Snowbird’s Mineral Basin and Alta’s Albion Basin. To visit both resorts, we suggest purchasing the AltaSnowbird ticket that allows you to access both resorts’ terrains.
Over the years, a range of diverse events and concerts has been held here, as well as numerous competitions. The Snowbird event calendar can inform you of the upcoming events for the season 2021/2022, and this guide will introduce you to Snowbird parking services. Finding a convenient parking space can be nerve-racking if you’re not familiar with the area. That’s why we’re here — keep reading to discover all your options.
Snowbird Parking Options
The resort can get overcrowded in peak season, and that’s when parking may be challenging. If you get there early, your chances of finding a spot will be much better, and so we recommend showing up early if possible. However, there are over a dozen parking lots with plenty of parking spaces, and after reading our guide, you’ll easily find a spot.
The Snowbird parking map shows the locations of each car park. As of April 5, car parking reservations aren’t required. However, a couple of parking lots allow pre-booking your daily parking service. Scroll down to see the general parking rates and parking availability in these lots.
Free Snowbird Parking
The ski resort provides free parking in several parking areas, and this is your most cost-effective option. Snowbird parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Look for a complimentary spot in one of the listed lots, which are marked in green on the map:
- Entry 1 Lot
- Upper Gad Valley Lot
- Wilbere Hill Lot
- Main Lot
- Chickadee Hill Parking
- Superior Lot
- The Bypass Road Lot
Note: parking along the side of SR-210 is also available but only when conditions allow. The availability of this option is determined every day by the Utah Department of Transportation.
Pre-Paid Parking Reservations
To make an advanced reservation and don’t waste your time circling the resort, use this option! Both self-parking and valet parking structures usually allow pre-booking, which is the most convenient way to start your day up in the mountains.
Reserved parking is available in the Lower Gad Valley or Pond Preferred Parking Lots, while valet service is provided by the Snowbird Center and The Cliff Lodge. Valet is available even without a reservation. To book a self-parking spot in advance, visitors pay up to $25 per day.
Preferred Snowbird Parking Pass
A limited number of preferred parking passes have been obtainable for purchase since April 15. This type of pass gives you access to the Lower Gad Valley, Pond, and Bypass Road Lots for the 2021/22 season. The price is $699, and it’s ideal for year-round visitors who enjoy skiing whenever their schedule allows. Find out more by calling the Snowbird Office at 801-933-2215. For additional information on Snowbird parking in general, send an email at parking@snowbird.com.
Bottom Line
Overall, Snowbird provides a wide range of convenient parking services and a great number of free parking spots. Yes, locating a free spot in peak season can be difficult, but it shouldn’t take up too much of your time, especially if you come early in the morning. On the other hand, visitors who don’t want to waste their time searching for parking can reserve it in advance or purchase the season parking pass. So, there’s something for everyone!
